lets hike Map

This hike is fantastic - some of the best views I’ve ever seen. The trail is long, but not too difficult in terms of being steep. I found the incline to be gradual. The trail is very doable. Slow and steady wins the race with this one!

It is not the hardest hike, but it is a classic hike with an epic photogenic rock and view. The hike works any time of day as the view is northerly so the sun never gets in the way of your shots. Although it is not that difficult of a hike, when the weather is warm it pays to bring extra water. Parking is plentiful, so no rush to get there early.

We hiked up the Cedar Run Trail which was strenuous for the entire way up (about 3 hours). This was a good trail to go up because there were a lot of smaller waterfalls and a steady stream. When we got to the top, we got a little turned around and accidentally went the wrong way. So make you’re reading your map carefully. We went down the White Oak Trail which was beautiful. The waterfalls were huge! Great photo opps. Trails were well kept even with the recent windstorm. The whole hike took us a little over 6 hours.

I did this trail at the beginning of March before the leaves came out. It made the views better all the way along the trail.

MAKE SURE YOUR DIRECTIONS ARE CLEAR! We followed the GPS directions (from the All Trails app) and never found the trailhead or anything. We really wanted to hike it but we gave up after driving around lost for about 30 mins. We would like to try again sometime though.

My 18month old daughter and I mastered this trail today. It was such a beautiful day. It was a little confusing starting out, but once we found the trail it was a piece of cake. Pay attention to the trail markers... we missed the waterfalls by a mile because we were following the blue markers. Follow the white markers. It will lead you down about 250 stone stairs right to the waterfall! If you’re backpacking (like I was with our baby carrier) it’s HELL getting back up! All in all it was a beautiful hike and I am so happy we did this.

Kind of a climb but once you’re at the top the view is so spectacular you won’t even remember the climb

Super nice trail hike, beautiful 270 degree view at the top!

I hiked this loop counter clockwise, starting at the ranger station off of Weakley Hollow Rd, on 3/10/18. Due to the recent wind storm there are a couple of trees down across the trail on the White Oak Canyon side of the loop, a couple across the fire road, and around 6 across the Cedar Run portion. Overall though, this is a great hike with lots of beautiful waterfalls and ponds.

It’s called Five Overlooks...not peaks.

Was not expecting the beauty of that waterfall! The rest of the hike is easy getting there, but when you start that descent to the falls it’s a whole other story. The ropes are useful, definitely take advantage of them. There were quite a few people on the trail including families with children, not a trail for all kids-those kids were beasts! The falls were well worth the heavy breathing!

Went when it was foggy so not much to see, but moderate climb with a few switchbacks to make your way up. Path was rocky so watch your step, but our dog was fine! Will definitely be going back to see the view!

Walked whole loop with my son, in Sept 2017. It was beautiful. Not a lot of scenery due to foliage. It was a great experience. Started at campsite: took Bluff Mtn Trail, down the mountain on Flat Rock Ridge and then back up mountain on Cedar Ridge Trail and then back to campground.

True to the Description listed on the post. Well marked and maintained trail. Took Tower up and Backside down - I’m sure would be great the opposite way too. Backside has many steps near the top. Have to be careful with pups/ kids at the summit as there are many steep cliff sides at the lookout points. Beautiful views!

Nice hike!

Hummmmm. I have a lot of thoughts about this trail. It does have a little bit of everything. The Hebron Falls were very pretty - although difficult to get to. I like a little of a challenge, but oh the MUD!!! This trail needs some major improvements. If they could “raise” the trail with gravel that would be a huge bonus. The ladder climbs are fun and different from most trails I have done. However the multiple stream crossings need (at least) a small bridge. The local scout troop could do that in a few weekends.
Overall okay trail. I was tired after I finished - although the day before I did Cone Manor (also ~6 miles) which is a much easier trail.

One of the best views I’ve seen on a hike

Very nice hike - nice view from the Cone Manor, but most of the trail is a great walk through the woods and around the lake. We didn't know the trail as well as most - and since the trail really isn't marked clearly - it's easy to cut out the "maze" section of the hike and go up to the "apple barn".

Not hard, per se, but a sure heart-pumper if you take the loop trail first and finish with the direct descent back to the parking area. Definitely worth the payoff view at the top.

Had a blast on this trail, it is very diverse in the different biomes that you experience. The northern half is very beautiful running along the beach for a few miles, it also has a good amount of elevation change. The southern half is a little easier however if you go after there has been rain be careful of mile 5-4 or 4-5, depending on the direction you are going, it is extremely wet and muddy. The camps are well spaced apart and are great spots to set up for the night.

I did this hike in January after a bunch of rain\snow. The falls were flowing great! it was a nice hike! A few inches of snow on top of the mountain but none at the bottom. Cedar Run was not too spectacular in my opinion, but I loved white oak canyon so much I took my 5 year old daughter the next weekend to hike a small portion of it. only one view to speak of near the top of white oak canyon. It's gorgeous! not too strenuous if you're in decent shape, but will definitely leave you sore the next day.

Basing my stars on Stone Mountain, BUT I am going there in two weeks, which direction should I go for the quickest route to the best features? What are the best features? Bluff Mountain and Alligator Back shelter. Thanks for any info:)

Beautiful me and my girlfriend did it in 4 hours.Spectacular view at the top would do it again in a heartbeat!!!!

Beautiful views and great camping.

Great hike, well maintained, excellent views, and not too busy. Better views at the north summit than the south imo.

Loved this trail! Super rocky on the way up... a fun challenge! Great view at the top!

Nice quick hike in Feb.
great views from atop.

Nice Trail....It was a little busy but nothing too unexpected for an easier trail. Well maintained and easy to follow.

Did this yesterday. Loved it. Nice little workout and definitely beer/cheeseburger worthy! Will have to go again when I can spend more time at the river. Pack a lunch. I don’t think it’s kid friendly unless they are experienced hikers

The views are absolutely beautiful. Very peaceful hike. Did not find it to be too challenging but just the right amount of a work out. Well worth the visit even if you don't do the whole trail.
