I tracked the run with Strava and it had me at 6.3 miles with 1746 feet of elevation gain. Not sure if the Strava App got confused or the All Trails app is wrong. Signs say it’s 3.4 to the top from the trail head.

I got it done in 73 minutes, and I’m not very fast. It’s mainly mellow switch backs all the way up, with a couple little flats in between.

There’s Two cool little bridges going over a creek that was very active due to recent rains. Awesome views between the trees that only get better as you go. Obviously the views are spectacular at the top. Some of those awesome rock stacker people have been playing there as well. Keep an eye out for their work.

Don’t be intimidated by this run. You got this!

Gets SO muddy in the rain! Went when it was pouring today with my puppy. She was in heaven! I was slipping and sliding. Limited parking for when the weather is actually good, but I’d definitely do this hike again

Great hike, very limited parking at the trailhead

Beautiful, moderate hike that can be chilly in spots. Go early, not a lot of parking. Views are spectacular. Bathrooms at both parking spots top and bottom.

Expect the unexpected here.. this was pretty challenging for me! But the clear views on a perfect day made it one of my best trail runs!!

Beautiful trail in San Jose but feels set apart. The park ranger was super friendly too!

Very well maintained. Great parking. Amazing views. Bathrooms at the trailhead and at the peak. Great view of the big cement box all the way up as motivation

great views, gate open at 7. try to be there at that time to get the best sun rise views and also get parking spots. parking at bald mountain lot is limited but there is much more on the summit. the trail is easy and would not categorize moderate. views of the San Jose valley and other areas are great. good rest area on the summit. overall I would rate it 5 only for the views. to get a better workout start from the Hicks road intersection parking lot. that would be a 15 mile roundtrip hike but would be worth it.

Amazing in the winter with rain and fog. I expected it to be a bit tougher but maybe with the heat of spring or summer it earns that hard rating. I’d highly recommend doing it on an overcast day like today though.

Great hike. Views are amazing at the top.

fun trail under 3 miles but has a decent incline to make up for it. good if you're interested in a quick one. not very crowded after 10:00am. dog friendly.

It was a moderate hike with beautiful panoramic views all along way. Almost entire path is shaded unless it’s midday.

Nice hike. But, only some of it was shaded and watch out for the bikers.

Nice gradual incline to the top with a great view of the bay especially on a clear day. Saw a rattlesnake near the bottom so be careful. Make sure you get there before 830am so you can get a parking spot. Small parking if you wanted to do the incline first but if you want to go downhill first then you can drive to the top which had more parking.

Well maintained, shaded trail for 85%.
Vegetation not as gorgeous like you find in forests but still nice, different.
Pretty decent ascent not hard at all.

Well maintained paths and spectacular views of South Bay. Parking is tough so go early.

Good trail for a morning workout. Parked at Prospect road lot. Was very crowded when I arrived at 9.15am but luckily got a parking spot. Parking gets freer during later hours. Trail was well marked. Not shaded in quite a few places.

Very easy. Great to get away from the hustle and bustle of Fremont.

Amazing views at the top.

Nice hike. Shaded all the way. One thing i don’t like is that it opens late; it says open and closes at sunrise and sunset, so you won’t be able to go there to see the sunrise. Bummer!

Tough for a beginner, all uphill, but a great trail!

Decent trail for casual evening walk. Very little shade.

I did this trail early in the morning and because of that there was so much fog, and couldn’t see much but the birds and ducks were enjoyable to see. The walk takes you along the lake and to Niles Beach which was nice. I prefer walking in the woods so that’s why I gave this a 4 Star.

This is a fairly straightforward hike. The trail is well maintained and not too heavily trafficked, especially early in the morning (i.e. 7am). The ascent is very gradual to the top and not strenuous with the exception of a few sets of stairs to reach the summit. The summit gives some great views of the surrounding area and some information on the history of the area.

Overall, this is a good hike that can be done fairly quickly and offers some good views.

It was a well maintained, shaded trail. There were a couple of really nice scenic view points...and deer! Caught glimpse of a creepy, rusted wrecked car on the way back...did someone drive off the main road and roll down the cliff?? I wish the building at the summit was open to wander around in...but overall a good hike!

Very nice trail, shaded most of the way. Elevation gain is graduate and not too steep. Beautiful recreation spots at the top: picnic tables with lots of shade, placards to teach about the place, the Indian tribes who lived here (and still have ceremonies here) and the history, beautiful overlook, even a restroom at the top (also at the beginning). took us 4 hours with lots of stops and breaks.

Nice trail for the first half until you meet Jones Trail. The trail beyond there is marked (private) on the map and is fenced off and not accessible.

Nicely shaded out and back. Not a lot of parking and seems to be a popular trail with mountain bikers. Initial steep climb for the first 1.5ish miles but steady gradient with lots of switchbacks after. A challenge if you push for speed on the uphill, but also not too difficult to maintain a 10min mile pace for the entirety if you’re just in the mood for an easy run.
