Fun quick little hike, definitely recommended spikes or poles, both would be great but I didn’t have either and was fine.

Went there in January, without snowshoes we lasted about a mile. It was serene, looked like some folks went before us so we just followed their path until we couldn’t walk anymore without falling thigh deep into the snow. Would go again but with snowshoes.

Lots of switchback at the beginning. Gradual climb to Elephant Rock. Trail well packed from heavy used. Didn't need to use snowshoes or chains

Pretty in the snow. Would be a good spot to snow shoe, I was able to hike it today with just boots because the trail had been walked in already. I saw some wild turkeys.

So beautiful in the winter. Only 1 spot with a little ice. Perfect winter hike!

Great trail to get used to the altitude, first part is a little difficult for out of staters like myself but even with a few breaks you can reach the reservoir fairly quickly. Great mountains views up top and great views of the city valley on the way down. Great quick Christmas hike!

Trail almost completely covered in ice right now so it is a little hard to navigate.

Not the hike we expected. "Best used" through October is more than a suggestion. Once Brighton resort is open for the season, hikers need to take the "uphill route" on Milly Access / Lost Maid and then exit the Wren Hollow gate to out of bounds. We looped around Dog Lake and made it up to the overlook of Lake Mary. Didn't have any backcountry gear/beacons and definitely would have wanted them if we were to go any farther towards Lake Catherine.

Great hike. Not many people. I saw deer both times I went.

Our first hike in the area! Waterfall Canyon did not dissappoint. There is snow on the ground pretty much the last half mile which adds to the difficulty although it's still an easy enough hike. Falls are frozen pretty good at this point and make for great photos. Thank you to the property owners who let the public on their lands.

Beautiful hike, shaded in the summer, open to the sun in some spots in winter.
Small bits of the path are icy/slushy right now, but most of it is nice fluffy fresh snow. Took about 3 hours up and back.

Nice moderate trail with some switchbacks to get up to the rock. Some benches have been put up at the top, which makes for a nice place to stop and rest. The trail is especially breathtaking in the fall. Accessible all year long. The trail is also really fun in the winter with the snow. Lots of people hike and bike the trail though, so watch out for bikers!

I just moved here fro Oklahoma. This is a great short hike to start reaclimating to the altitude. First .5 miles is rough but the rest is amazing. Would like to see the trails marked better. I got lost but it was easy to get back.

We hiked this trail on September 5th and it was a beautiful fall hike. The trail was mostly dirt and it varied between loose and hard packed on the hike up. The lake was very pretty and we saw a mother moose with two calves drinking from the lake. While the trail doesn't have an official end to it, the views on the way up were amazing and I look forward to hiking this trail again.

I got plastered by artificial snow makers trying to find the trailhead by the Brighton Ski resort, but once found it was a great hike! It was fairly quick, even with the snowfall on the ground. I loved skipping rocks on the frozen lake and hearing those cool Star Wars noises.

Beautiful and short trail

Did this trail yesterday, it hard to follow the trail with the recent snowfall and quite slippery due to icy areas, but worth the challenge and inspiration for capturing both visually and mentally the solitude of this area. Simply beautiful.

I loved the trail. It was lightly trafficked mostly with hikers and a couple of mountain bikers. Got some amazing views from the top and also experienced the snowfall on my way up.

Nice area, but lots of horse poop. If you're on foot and are terrified of stepping in horse poop like me, this trail isn't for you!

Great hike, really beautiful. 3-6 inches of snow and lightly snowing all day. Well worth the uphill climb.

I love this trail. I love that dogs can use the trail too. Today, however, there were three young men on dirt bikes. That was not pleasant for so many reasons. This is the first time I’ve encountered dirt bikes and I hope it’s the last.

Fantastic trail, my first in the SLC area! I went there for a hike at 5pm and found it plenty busy with local joggers, bikers, and hikers, so don't go here for an isolated experience. Still, the amazing views, great plant variety, and Mill Creek right at the start make it easy to enjoy regardless of traffic. Most of the time there is ample room to let bikers past, but later on in the route it gets skinny, so be cautious and aware of your footing when you step aside for others.

I'm a 27 y/o male, and was able to go about 2 miles in an hour. I unfortunately had to turn back then due to approaching sunset, but even without reaching the rock (which you will see long before you get there), there are some spectacular scenes, especially at "The Boulders", about 1.6 miles in on this map.

****ATTENTION****

As of October 30 Cecret Lake Trail is closed. In fact, the only road to the trail is closed for construction.

Fast, fun, family friendly hike. We enjoyed climbing on the rocks at the end near the waterfall and exploring some caves off the main trail.

Hiking up to Elephant Rock in Mueller Park was a beautiful hike all the way up. It is about 3.5 miles up. The hike does seem a little longer than normal (a causal uphill trail with a few switchbacks). I highly recommend to bring at least 1.5 liters of water and a snack with you. Also, bring a camera the views are spectacular!
The trail was busy with hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers. So be aware of your surroundings and go on the hike early if you want to avoid traffic.

My first time there today. It was challenging but great. Very nice views when on top. Many people on horseback, I’m not sure it’s great for bikes though. For hiking, definitely it’s a go :)

First time to Ogden. We wanted to see a little bit of autumn since we live in the Vegas desert. We did this hike with my 10 year old daughter and 5 year old son. We loved it! Beautiful foliage and the 2nd half of the trail was covered in marigold colored leaves and red leaves. The last stretch what some what difficult for the 5 year old given the steepness and all of the rocks but he made it to the top. Great trail for dogs. Can’t wait to come back and bring your husky.

This has been a favorite of mine and my kids for years. It's easy and the lake is pretty,

People complaining about there being too much dog crap should probably stick to trails where they aren't allowed. You can find these in watersheds, like the cottonwood canyons!

This trail is beautiful, a quick escape. Bikers are common, but so are hikers, so everyone stays aware of each other. Would recommend - ESPECIALLY in fall. :)

Just beautiful. Always loved going here when I was a kid.
