Very good running trail and nice views along the way
Loved it! Great keep style trail with a lot of climbing
This is not a flat trail if you are looking for a leisure ride, but if you start a one way ride from the end that is farther from Mount Scott, it will be more downhill than up.
Great track for running as it can be technical for speed training and the elevation is just enough to make you work. I love the Fire Road to train as the out and back is the perfect half marathon distance. I often park at the trailhead and then run up Mt. Scott and back to do the fire road for a good challenge. Hot as hell in the summer and in the winter can get windy and bite hard.
great trail there and back, it may say easy but not for a beginner!
Good for moderate level. Almost no people. Saw 4 mountain bike cyclists and only one other trail walker. Lots of stones and gravel if you’re sensitive to that. Mainly exposed to sun so being water and sunscreen.
Nice be careful of loose rocks when riding
Good trail
Great trail for running, biking, or walking. Very hot in summertime with minimal shade and lots of hills. As usual, bring plenty of water and wear moisture wicking clothing. If you’re doing point to point, that will be roughly 10 miles or a bit more. Trekking poles is highly recommended if you are running or hiking.
Wasn't a bad trail just ran out of water
Excellent moderate trail! Easy to follow. Pretty much a gravel road. Saw a wild buffalo, white tail, and a bull!
Good trail for dogs
A pleasant hike for an unusually warm late winter/early spring day (low 70's). This would be brutal in the summer since there is little-to-no shade. Not much traffic compared to other parts of the refuge.
Little shorter than what is posted. I hit the end point (turn around if rerouting back) at 5.35 miles. But this was exactly what I was looking for. If you want a scenic hike this isn’t for you. But if you are looking for something to get a workout then this is great. Ruck up and hit the trail running!
This is a beautiful afternoon hike. The trail is easy to follow, and kept up nicely. It's a pleasant introduction to the Wichitas for people not yet familiar with free hiking the area. Take your time, as it's a small piece of tranquility otherwise unavailable in Oklahoma. the last portion of the trail on the west side, heading south towards the parallel forest, is a bit overgrown. That may be an issue in the spring and summer, but right now it's not. You can keep straight west at the fork to Meers road if you prefer a less weedy path.
Nice trail. We saw a few surprise Bison near trail.
It’s really awesome trail to get some speed going
was a pretty buffed out trail. super easy to follow. really enjoyed because i was able to run the whole way instead of trying to find the trail or jump from rock to rock. will definately b doing this again
