Fun hike, lots of short switchbacks.
Tons of beautiful butterflies and some snow at the top.

Guys!! The Views were AMAZING. It's a tough climb up (especially if you do the Cinder cone the day before with zero hours of sleep after a 10 hour drive
...haha) but very doable. It's worth it.

Loved this hike! Very beautiful the first ten seconds you walk through a nice green area with water and awesome wildflowers!! We started our hike around 9 I would recommend a little earlier because it gets super hot but sine it’s so beautiful we pushed through. When you make it to the top the view is gorgeous you can see for miles and miles it’s really cool up there.

Loved this trip because it was pretty isolated and not as difficult as others have rated it.

Great hike just to many people.

Hiked earlier today. Absolutely beautiful. The scenery with all of the blue lakes is breathtaking. Once you reach the summit there are hundreds of migrating butterflies. Absolutely loved it

Thoroughly enjoyable. The falls were spectacular.

Lots of switch backs but worth it

It was such a beautiful hike... perfect weather and beautiful swimming hole at the top of the waterfalls!

gorgeous

nice trail with many shaded areas. we take the lower loop in and the upper loop out. platform overlooks the falls. bit of a drive to get there from greater Sacramento area but worth it.

The views on this hike were gorgeous...tons of blooming foliage and that sweet, woodsy scent of the mountain air. However, if you're out of shape, like me, stay away! There is one area of the hike where the trail is dusty and very steep downhill. Make sure you wear shoes with good traction, because I didn't and hurt myself badly. Nothing like hiking 45 mins back covered in blood & dirt! I'm determined to come back and conquer this trail.

Beautiful hike with breathtaking views the whole way, especially half way. There were thousands of migrating butterflies swarming the peak. Windy at the top. Still snow in July. Definitely recommend!

Amazing. I was alone all the hike long. It was easy to follow the hike, and it was shady both upper and lower. It is one of the best waterfalls in USA.

Absolutely gorgeous hike. We were torn between Lassen and Brokeoff, but decided to do Brokeoff because of the varied terrain - we are so glad we did! So beautiful with streams, wildflowers, lichen covered trees. Great trail with gradual increase in elevation. Amazing views up top. 7.4 miles round trip according to GPS.

Great hike and the views were awesome! Had some snow in a few different places near the top. Suggest leaving early as there is no shade on the hike.

Hiked the lower trail first which kept us in the shade and in the creek at times. There was one tree on the trail we had to work around. Feather Falls itself was great with a nice, but very sunny platform. The lower trail had lots of benches along the way and there are benches near the viewing platform in the shade. We took the upper trail back, which was a little longer, easier to hike, but had much more sun. Also, there was another tree on the trail we had to work around. There's a second unnamed falls along the upper trail that's also nice. The only complaint was that the poison oak and blackberry bushes are starting to reach a little far into the trail.

Overall it was a great hike. Took us 5 hrs with 1 hr spent at the falls (we're also slow hikers).

A gentle easy loop around this very pleasant lake. Great views of Mount Lassen that reflect on the surface of the water. Ducks and fish and deers in abundance.

Great views and good workout. Saw deer early in the morning as we walked down the trail to the falls.

Best done early in the day when it is cooler and less people are hiking.

Great views. There was still some snow/ice on a steep drop off. Took 2 hrs for the complete hike and 15 mins at the top.

Great Hike! Definitely go back up the river on the way out. As beautiful as the falls

SOOOO WINDY. We came here 6/30 and I misread the forecast between where we’re staying and weather at Lassen. It was 65deg which was great for the hike. However, in various parts of the hike, it was ridiculously windy (and cold) as you get higher up the mountain.

BRING WARM LAYERS if you plan to do this hike.

Hiking poles are optional but not mandatory.

There was indeed a few snow slushy spots, but we got through it just fine.

We initially saw folks with ski gear and I almost thought we weren’t prepared. Checked in with someone who just finished the hike and they reassured us it was doable with what we had.

Enjoy!

This trail is lovely, very busy. We saw a lot of people on the trail with no water who looked very overheated. It's a short trail but has some steep and rocky points and it was very warm. Take lots of water.
The falls are stunning and definitely worth the hike.

Hiked this trail Saturday June 30. Stunning! The vistas from the top were some of the best I've seen in the area. Pockets of snow but none on the trail. A couple of small creek crossings.
We started about 8am and the temp was pleasant, very warm on the way down. A couple of rock falls to climb over but easy to navigate.
Wildflowers were wonderful, and the butterflies were abundant.

Stunning views, ran into no people at all

Great trail! Pay attention to the sigh that says go left/right. Somebody wrote “this sucks” going that direction. Do the sucky side 1st and it’ll be downhill instead of going uphill.

A hidden gem. Thankful for previous reviewers and tips. We went yesterday and took our time. We went to the upper, longer or trail to the right then went back down to the 3.5ish mile back. Note that the sign for the fork is gone. The hike going back is full of obstacles like a stream taking over the trail, a tree on the path and some parts overgrown, but it was worth it when we came upon the swim hole near the end and the lady bug colony on the bridge. Be wary of footing as some paths on the edge could give in. Don’t miss the butterfly area on the longer trail by the longer bridge. The loop has so many wonderful benches. Take time to sit and ponder. Also notice the sounds of the streams and how they change in every bend. Do bring lots of water and food so taking time won’t be a problem. We almost had the park to ourselves. If John Muir came, this place would be packed. No fee as well. Enjoy! (Some trash here and there so we picked some reachable ones. Help keep the trash out as it seems hardly maintained.)

We hiked Brokeoff Saturday morning. It was a beautiful day with blue skies and no wind. I really enjoyed all the beautiful scenery on this hike. I would recommend hiking poles on the way down; helps save the knees.

Astonishing views and lots of elevation gain. Still icy on one really steep hillside. Be very careful! Highly recommended hike!
