Came in late July 2018. I should have checked the Lassen NPS webcams for air quality/visibility because it was very smokey from the Carr fire and the views were non existent. The air quality site showed "good" conditions.

The road in was bumpy in the middle portion, but nothing my 2WD crossover couldn't handle. My fellow hikers had a Nissan Altima and they did fine. My GPS tried to make me take some sketchy forest roads. I just stayed on the paved road until it ended and veered right.

We paid our $25 fee at the iron Ranger across the road from the ranger station. There's a pit toilet behind he ranger station.

The trail itself was nice. I think its a 1300 foot climb up to the fire look out. I should have brought my hiking poles. Totally spaced on that item. Bring plenty of water and head protection. We visited Dave at the fire look out and he was very nice. He explained how he spots fires. Shortly after we arrived, more guests arrived, making the lookout very crowded.

We did the loop which was about 6 miles for us. The trail down the west side is pretty rocky. Those poles would have been handy and saved my legs. We stopped by the lake and cooled off our feet. Other than the crowded look out, we didn't encounter many hikers.

We'll have to come back when the views are better.

This was a nice moderate hike easily marked. Meadow was beautiful but lots of kids and people came at the end and took away from that. No worries tho. Also on the way back I split off and took the trail up to one of the lakes back there. Nice hike for sure.

Such and amazing view and close to my campground. The reflection off the lake of lassen peak was so beautiful! Manzanita campground was crowded but also has some awesome amenities and located in such a great spot! I loved this little loop you don’t even have to do the whole thing you could just walk around find the perfect view and chill! Also stayed around end of July 2017

Enjoyed the trail it is always calming to be around the waters edge.

Peaceful walk even if there was smoke in the air from a fire on the backside of Lassen. Maybe next time we might try kayaking.

gorgeous with the lupins carpeting the forest, and the emerald lakes. swimming at Terrace and Shadow helped beat the heat.

The falls are very pretty. Nice reward for the short hike. The hike itself is not the prettiest but not a bad little walk.

Nice hike and amazing lake. It was definitely worth it to jump in.

Nice hike, probably a 4 star hike in general but being able to go in the fire lookout and visit with the residents and learn about living up there easily made it a 5 star experience! My 8 and 3 year olds loved visiting the lookout and my 3 year old even begged for me to take her back up there later in the day!

Pretty sweet place to check out

Great hike, awesome view of Lake Juniper at the top!

The meadows near the top were amazing. Lots of open grass meadows with wildflowers. There was no water along the trail but plenty of shade until you reach the final .5 km climb.

The fire watch station was staffed with volunteers who were very friendly. You can see great views of Brokeoff Mountain, Lassen Peak, and Cinder cone from the firewatch station.

If you loop back down the side of the trail that goes along the lake, there is a ton of volcanic rocks along the entire descent. It isn't too difficult but it is a long, gradual descent full with lots of rocks on the trail.

The road into Mount Harkness is pretty rough if you are traveling in a car. it is really steep with a lot of rocks.

Be sure to take a dip in Lake Juniper after your hike! There is parking at the end of the road, and a small beach area near the parking lot. The water in Lake Juniper is so clean, such a beautiful lake!

Beautiful trail. Lots of ups and downs without much elevation change overall. Rest your feet in the cold creek at the top of the waterfall before heading back. We did the hike there and back with a 13 and 14 year old in about 2.5 hours. Bring lots of water. It is very dry out here.

The trail was easy and it had good views.

Thoroughly enjoyable. The falls were spectacular.

The views on this hike were gorgeous...tons of blooming foliage and that sweet, woodsy scent of the mountain air. However, if you're out of shape, like me, stay away! There is one area of the hike where the trail is dusty and very steep downhill. Make sure you wear shoes with good traction, because I didn't and hurt myself badly. Nothing like hiking 45 mins back covered in blood & dirt! I'm determined to come back and conquer this trail.

A gentle easy loop around this very pleasant lake. Great views of Mount Lassen that reflect on the surface of the water. Ducks and fish and deers in abundance.

Very nice trail to the falls. We went on 7/4/18 and he flowers were still in bloom. 4 miles, 1:52 minutes in and back.

My first visit to Lassen. I chose this hike so that I'd have time to explore the rest of the park as well. So glad I did! Beautiful all the way up to the meadow, lots of wildflowers (early July), waterfalls, butterflies & dragonflies, too.

We stopped here on our way to the 3 lakes - it’s beautiful and there were waterfalls, streams and tons of greenery and wildflowers.

Easy and beautiful

Superbly maintained, clearly marked, easy trail with excellent footing and a gin- clear high mountain lake at the end. We (both retired & one Medicare eligible for many years) arrived there in less than an hour of walking, despite taking numerous photos of Mt Lassen along the way. Water is chilly but swimmable, as we chatted with two young women who were enjoying the activity on an otherwise hot day.

gotta love waterfalls !!!! easy downhill , good steady climb out lol .. good times

No actual trail, a short walk from the parking lot gets you up close with the mudpots. Educational experience for the kids and adults too. Due to Bumpass Hell being closed for repairs this short walk has a great alternative to seeing the mudpots in the area. Easy enough for kids and even witnessed a person in a wheelchair doing the walkway. The sulfur smell isn’t as bad as some say and didn’t bother me, but bothered my husband. Great short walk and would definitely return again in the future

Beautiful meadow, creek full of water, very peaceful

It's really a moderate trail worth hiking. The majestic Mill Creek Falls await you at the end of the trail.

Great steady hike .. hiked it with daughter and 2 grand babies (2 1/2 and 3 months )

Gorgeous views, nice variety, good workout

i was going hike the Lassen Peak trail but I couldn't see the trailhead or trail in the dark this morning. i had no service either, so plan ahead.
Anyway this trail was great (and close by) Good mix of up and down (i started with 3 layers n ended up with a soaked t shirt). took a ton of pics. i didnt see a single person coming or going. First I've ever had a trail to myself

I had an outstanding time at Lassen. There were only a handful of people in the park it seemed all morning. So peaceful! I decided to take a lap around the lake and get some shots after I finished Mill Creek
