Great easy hike four our family. We have four kids ranging from age 11 years old to five months old. Everybody loved it. Trail walks right along the side of the lake. Beautiful views of lake and mt lassen

We hiked in during an ice storm. It was still amazing.

Two creeks come together and fall into the same pool. Then fall again the same distance. Not as close as I would like. Park closed the way down to get closer.

Awesome mud pots

The trail guide doesn’t do this one justice. The best part isn’t the destination—it’s the views and sounds on the way. My suggestion, take a picnic lunch and enjoy.

Moderately steep trail, but worth it. Beautiful views. You can even see Mt. Shasta in the distance. Bring a camera and water.

Very scenic, easy short trail, nice view of Lassen. We arrived at Manzanita campground around 3 and did not have much time to go far so we decided to stroll around the lake. I am glad we did. The lake was very beautiful. I could take some nice photos of Lassen front the lake.

Great hike! Like every trail in LVNP this one was beautiful. Easy hike around the lake. The trail is easy to follow and lots of places to sit and have a snack while enjoying the views! One part does get close to the road coming into the park but don’t let that stop you.

No hiking, just walking from your car. A wheelchair would have noooo problem. The boiling mud pit is impressive to say the least and its only about 2 feet from the sidewalk! I saw an elderly woman at the fence near it get blasted with a burst of sulphuric steam and she had to jump back into the road to avoid getting scorched. Her glasses were completely fogged and her hair was damp. Must've smelled great. Be careful.

Took my two 7 year olds around the lake while my wife and other kids hung out at the picnic area. Lots of shade, an easy walk for the boys. Ducks, geese, deer, squirrels, as well as many other birds along the way. Great for a leisurely stroll! We went July 2018.

This is a enjoyable walk around the lake. Lots of shade and the kids can toss stones in the lake and enjoy the birds and ground squirrels. Even more fun is to bring a small floaty and laze around on the lake. They rent them there too. Gets cold after October.

Loved this hike. Very flat and great views of this pristine lake

Did Hat Creek up to Paradise Meadow and then up to Terrace and Shadow Lakes, Have done the hike before, but turned my sons and my daughter's boyfriend on to it. Great hike, climbed 75 stories in 3.1 miles. Stunning vistas as you get past Paradise Meadow. I am 69 and kept up with my 29 year old sons, they let me rest on the way up! Shadow Lake will take your breath away, it is so beautiful. Next to Broke Off and Kings Creek , my favorite hike in the park and I have done 85% of the trails since 1974.

Great trail, well marked. The falls are wonderful.

Very nice trail, mostly downhill to Cliff lake. All three lakes a very swimmable right now. Close to 80 deg. Shadow lake is largest and prettiest.

Definitely one to check off your list, classic Lassen beauty. Down hill all the way in, and you know what that means. must do for the hiker looking for a easy but great hike.

Came in late July 2018. I should have checked the Lassen NPS webcams for air quality/visibility because it was very smokey from the Carr fire and the views were non existent. The air quality site showed "good" conditions.

The road in was bumpy in the middle portion, but nothing my 2WD crossover couldn't handle. My fellow hikers had a Nissan Altima and they did fine. My GPS tried to make me take some sketchy forest roads. I just stayed on the paved road until it ended and veered right.

We paid our $25 fee at the iron Ranger across the road from the ranger station. There's a pit toilet behind he ranger station.

The trail itself was nice. I think its a 1300 foot climb up to the fire look out. I should have brought my hiking poles. Totally spaced on that item. Bring plenty of water and head protection. We visited Dave at the fire look out and he was very nice. He explained how he spots fires. Shortly after we arrived, more guests arrived, making the lookout very crowded.

We did the loop which was about 6 miles for us. The trail down the west side is pretty rocky. Those poles would have been handy and saved my legs. We stopped by the lake and cooled off our feet. Other than the crowded look out, we didn't encounter many hikers.

We'll have to come back when the views are better.

This was a nice moderate hike easily marked. Meadow was beautiful but lots of kids and people came at the end and took away from that. No worries tho. Also on the way back I split off and took the trail up to one of the lakes back there. Nice hike for sure.

Such and amazing view and close to my campground. The reflection off the lake of lassen peak was so beautiful! Manzanita campground was crowded but also has some awesome amenities and located in such a great spot! I loved this little loop you don’t even have to do the whole thing you could just walk around find the perfect view and chill! Also stayed around end of July 2017

Enjoyed the trail it is always calming to be around the waters edge.

Peaceful walk even if there was smoke in the air from a fire on the backside of Lassen. Maybe next time we might try kayaking.

gorgeous with the lupins carpeting the forest, and the emerald lakes. swimming at Terrace and Shadow helped beat the heat.

The falls are very pretty. Nice reward for the short hike. The hike itself is not the prettiest but not a bad little walk.

Nice hike and amazing lake. It was definitely worth it to jump in.

Nice hike, probably a 4 star hike in general but being able to go in the fire lookout and visit with the residents and learn about living up there easily made it a 5 star experience! My 8 and 3 year olds loved visiting the lookout and my 3 year old even begged for me to take her back up there later in the day!

Pretty sweet place to check out

Great hike, awesome view of Lake Juniper at the top!

The meadows near the top were amazing. Lots of open grass meadows with wildflowers. There was no water along the trail but plenty of shade until you reach the final .5 km climb.

The fire watch station was staffed with volunteers who were very friendly. You can see great views of Brokeoff Mountain, Lassen Peak, and Cinder cone from the firewatch station.

If you loop back down the side of the trail that goes along the lake, there is a ton of volcanic rocks along the entire descent. It isn't too difficult but it is a long, gradual descent full with lots of rocks on the trail.

The road into Mount Harkness is pretty rough if you are traveling in a car. it is really steep with a lot of rocks.

Be sure to take a dip in Lake Juniper after your hike! There is parking at the end of the road, and a small beach area near the parking lot. The water in Lake Juniper is so clean, such a beautiful lake!
