What a magical day!! Went up to see if we could find those sweet little chickadees and we were not disappointed! 5 minutes into the trail the little guys were all over the trail eating seed out of all of our hands! We were there around 11:30, came back a short time later and they were all gone. Snow was packed enough to hike... did sink in a few times, but it was just fine! Snowshoes not necessary if you’re looking for adventure!

Had a quick visit to Reno, NV and visiting Lake Tahoe was a must. This hike was exactly what I was looking for; a view of the lake (an amazing one at that!) and a chance to be in the mountains. Went down to hidden beach on the way back too! Highly recommend this trail!

I hiked this and several other trails alongside the highway down to the lake. There isn’t a ton of parking, so I just parked wherever and bushwhacked my own trail down to the path. It is very steep at the top, so be mindful of this, I had to crawl and use my hands to pull me up. There are stairs in a couple spots, so kudos to you if you park near them and use them.
I won’t say too much about the beach, I almost hate to say anything because it is a jewel. I was there by myself for over an hour. It was one of the better moments I’ve had in this life. Plenty of little bluffs and coves you can scramble and bushwhack to, I kept myself entertained between all the trails for a few hours.

Amazing views! Uphill all the way there but downhill all the way back. There are historical signs to read and bench’s to rest on... even a picnic table.

Nice hike on well-packed snow. Some icy spots. Nice views around the 1 mile mark, but a lot of time spent in the woods. Parking seems like it could be a little tight in summer around the diner.

We went Saturday 12/29 and arrived at 2:00pm Lots of cars were parked along the highway but once we got on the trail there was plenty of space between hikers.

An easy trail with great views that is perfect for an evening after work!

A beautiful hike (or snowshoe)!

Love this trail year round but especially when I can swim at the bottom!

Great for sunrises over Crystal Bay and for when family visits. Interesting historical information makes it a more engaging trail.

Awesome, short hike with great views. There was a lot of packed snow on the route, but it is paved the whole way. Wasn't crowded when we went, and there was plenty of parking along the street (before the gate).

Beautiful view. Worth the steep incline toward the end.

Got lost on another trail and ended up here. Absolutely beautiful and so worth getting lost for. Perfect spot for lunch and even got to hang out with a chipmunk. The views are amazing.

Beautiful snowshoeing! Kind of wandered until we found the ridge but even so, it was a beautiful hike and totally worth the extra mile or so we added to it. Gorgeous views of Tahoe. Bring bird seed! We had luck and birds ate out of our hands!

This was a great hike! We went in late November, so there was ABSOLUTELY no one on the trail. It’s mostly downhill on the way down, so it’s quite the climb coming up, but totally worth it! The beach and the house at the bottom was beautiful and a great place to rest. Highly recommend!

Good walk for children. It is uphill, but doable for our 7- and 4-year olds. The view of Lake Tahoe once you are up the hill is spectacular. It is paved all the way.

Easy trail, quite a few people, but a nice place to watch the sunset.

This was my favorite hike of the trip. Not particularly busy (though it was a Monday) and it was so peaceful. It was pretty easy too. The trailhead is in a weird place and there isn't a whole lot of signage, but the trail is really big and easy to follow. My favorite part was the little trails everywhere that shot you out into different parts of the main trail!

Great out and back trail. Parking is in a small lot and also a turnout beside a gate on the main road. Both places join the main trail.
Good quality path all the way down to the sandy beaches. Great for dogs. Stunning views.
Return walk is all uphill but not difficult.

* parking locked up for the season when we went.(11_12_18).hard to find parking nearby as there are lots of "no parking" signs posted along roadside.
*lower part of trail was great.
* creek water for the dogs.
* where trail splits off- we initially missed this and hiked a couple miles before realizing we had missed our line.
* backtracked to the split and this portion has been discouraged for hikers by logs, rocks, etc a lot along the way to the lake. Not sure why?
*it was a great hike nevertheless- many beautiful views. The lake was stunning , as always. We were the only people on this trail.
*had a wonderful time, despite the unknown reason for the "upper" trail being discouraged.

Great trail down to the sand beaches with crystal water. Very easy and has a perfect length. Our dog also enjoyed it a lot off leash.

Amazing! Beautiful views the entire way. Steady incline all the way up, but you are stopping to take it all in anyway so you will get plenty of breaks!

Quick easy hike. Pretty little water fall. took us longer to drive from reno then it did to actually do the hike.

Legendary Flume Trail! Take this 1.5 mi, 5 mi, 7 mi all the way up to the entire 15 mi trail. Incredible Lake Tahoe vistas all along the way. Solid vertical climb so you get a great workout in as well. Bring water as it gets hot and dry. Careful of mountain bikers if you’re walking a dog. Enjoy the hike! Enjoy the views!!

Absolutely breathtaking! Highly recommend. Do this hike. Stunning views all the way up and they keep getting better. Steady uphill the whole way, but plenty of rocks to stop and sit and rest as needed. Lots of turnoffs to explore as well. Definitely will go back!
