HikingGreat!

Gorgeous trail and few people. Started around noon today. Parked just off the highway at the gate to the Emerald Bay State Park / Upper Eagle Point campground. Walk down the campground road to the trailhead. Took us about 2 hrs with lots of stops to go down to Vikingsholm and then back to the Upper Eagle Point campground. It’s also worth it to add on the brief side trail on the Overlook trail.

Incredible! 14.3 miles and 7 hours based on my route from DL Bliss through to the lower camp sites at Eagle Point and back, with 1 longer and two short breaks. From DL Bliss, stay left/low at the fork and go through the Rubicon campground rather than taking the paved access road up (unless you are feeling claustrophobic and want brief exposure to some cliffs and more elevated but less dense forested areas before reconnecting with the main trail). Eagle Point camp sites in the low 70s (the closest I could get to Eagle Point) give great views directly across to Rubicon Point, which I thought was a sweet spot to turnaround. Varied trail with lots of microclimates and terrain. Leave your hiking sandals at home as gravel and pine needles prevail underfoot.

Absolutely stunning! Not too hard or too long. Easy access - the trail can get a little confusing towards the middle but just follow this map! Definitely busy

Trail head is currently closed by the forest service. They were turning people around at the trailhead.

A beautiful, somewhat moderate trail! We got there at about 8:30 a.m. & snagged one of the last parking spots. I felt like the hardest part was the beginning. Take the time to follow trails around the lake! The views were absolutely incredible the entire hike!

HikingGreat!

Hiked in from DL Bliss about 1/3 of the trail and about 1/2 from Emerald Bay another day. Beautiful scenery all the way around. Hiking shoes preferably as it is dusty. I did not encounter but a handful of people at 7am. That does change quickly. It is narrow in spots and therefore not the perfect trail for social distancing. No worries on our part. We slipped our masks on when warranted. Limited parking and 1 mile steep walk down to trailhead at EBSP. Wonderful area. Loved every minute of it!

wonderful way to start the day! Arrived at the parking lot at 7:30 am Monday of Labor Day weekend. Easy to park. Hike up was a climb but pretty with spots of shade. Waterfalls are just a trickle. Not many in the trail yet. Jackpot was arriving at the lake. So amazing. I had to get in the water... felt so good! The trip back was quicker but met many coming up. So very glad we started early.

Beautiful hike! Shady in the morning. The lake is absolutely stunning and clear! We arrived at 0730 on a Saturday morning (Labor Day wknd) and it wasn’t too busy yet, but by the way down at 1030 it was super packed. Definitely go early! Brought my little dog and she did great. Because of Covid they aren’t currently requiring day use permits.

Well-maintained with beautiful views of the Lake. Heavy traffic during summer months with trailhead parking lots filling up early. Plenty of spots to stop and eat lunch along trail. Easy to moderate elevation change.

Great easy hike. Recommend doing it in the evening to avoid heat. It was a bit disheartening to see so many people without masks.

There isn't a single turn on this trail that isn't picturesque. Easily added an hour just for taking photos. This is the hike I would recommend the most to get the full beauty of Lake Tahoe. Got the the parking lot right at 7am when the gate opens and only ran across 3 people before the camping spots. $10 to park for the day. Plenty of places to stop along the way and swim in the lake. I will do this hike for sure again. Easy terrain, did it all in bedrock sandals.

Trail was great. Water level on the waterfall was low, but still nice to see and hear. Eagle Lake was amazing. Water was cold, but it was like having your own private lake. Very kid friendly hike with a beautiful lake at the end of it. Try to go early as it can get crowded. Parking can also be tough. Definitely worth doing.

Beautiful day! I started this trail around 1pm (Tuesday) afternoon. I had no issues with finding a place to park. The Falls under the bridge are nearly dried up, which is to be expected this late in the season. Expect lots of stone stepping, as well as exposed and shaded parts of trail at times through the woods as you continually ascend toward the lake. (You’ll be able to descend the entire way back to your car). Eagle Lake was exceptionally gorgeous today! I was able to cross over what is usually a rushing waterfall, to the west side of the lake, sit under a tree and soak in the beauty. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon! I left the lake at around 4 pm. Enjoy!

This is my favorite trail in Tahoe although it gets pretty crowded. Beautiful scenery and eagle lake is a fun spot to sit and have lunch. Not too difficult and very rewarding with beautiful views of Lake Tahoe. Best to go during the week and early!
