It wonderful trail. Took us about 45 mins walk wonderful view the lake

Beautiful hike and views. Did an amazing sunrise hike and the whole way up to the peak we got beautiful views of the sun coming over the mountains with the lake in front. Little steep at times but definitely a consistent incline. Top has a well worth it view.

Beautiful views

Love the history of the mansion. Be sure to read the info plates. Amazing views.

gorgeous hike and the lake is amazing! might have been because I went on a Saturday, but it was incredibly crowded all the way up and down. Still a good one!

Easy trail. The water is crystal clear, and the scenery is beautiful.

Definitely a scenic hike. Had a lot of different pools to explore and involves a bit of climbing. Great for a quick trip to a waterfall.

Beautiful lake, fairly easy hike. The falls were dry so not much to see. Pleasant place to stop for lunch.

The road to the trailhead at DL Bliss is closed for the winter but you can park and walk a mile down the road to the Rubicon trailhead. I hiked from DL Bliss past Vikingsholm almost to Eagle Point Campground and back. It was a long hike but not difficult. The views are out of this world! So beautiful, it's hard to describe. Fall leaf colors are bright yellow, and the lake in the morning has a surreal green/blue tinge. Don't miss this one during your next visit to Tahoe!

Great hike and lunch spot at lake.

Spectacular view from Castle Rock!!! Good trail to acclimate on.

Superb little hike, especially with kids. Requires to be a bit careful towards the rock.

easy, accessible, rewarding hike around emerald bay; not terribly crowded on a fall weekday with nice fall foliage around the bay
parking/trailhead: dl bliss entrance closed at entrance, could park and walk down to trail but we parked at the other end of emerald bay on the road and didn't pay; $10 at vikingsholm
trail: wilderness highway, well maintained, mostly packed dirt
scenery: beautiful views of the bay and surrounding area, fall colors

Hiked from DL Bliss to Vikingsholm. Very pretty hike! We completed this section in 2 hours.

It’s a very beautiful hike with lots of lake views. We stopped by at Granite Lake for lunch and since it was end of fall, it wasn’t very crowded. The trail is well maintained. The views at various vistas are spectacular. I’d rate it between moderate and difficult.

If you're an avid hiker, this is an easy trail. If you're new to it, moderate. Beautiful hike taking you through the forest of mixed trees of golden Aspen , pine and fur and alongside trickling creek and calming pools of water. Plenty of places to stop along the trail to hike in a little bit to have a picnic lunch by one of the many water pools.

The trail is not easy to follow but it's not hard to get back on when you realize you're going the wrong way. Just make sure the creek is to the right of you. As long as you can hear it, you're good. When you are almost to the falls, you'll be climbing up and over boulders. Make sure you have appropriate shoes that have good traction.

This trail is doable in runners or cross-trainers but the terrain is a bit tricky. Rocks, sticks, logs and one small part of trail where you're walking over a pooled water area covered with logs. I would recommend shoes that have ankle support. If you aren't careful, you can easily roll your ankles. I did this in trail running shoes and was fine.

One of my favorites, a gorgeous hike! We started out at the trailhead at D. L. Bliss, the campground was closed and the parking at the front was full, but we found parking along the street. We only hiked to Vikingsholm and then turned around, next time we’ll continue the hike into Emerald Bay , with stopping to eat our lunch, and taking pictures, it took us 5 Hrs. Next time and that’s if we get an early start because of parking, we might try starting at Vikingsholm, hike into Emerald Bay, back to Vikingsholm, and continue towards D. L. Bliss for a ways, and back to Vikingsholm, it is a long hike , and my husband and I are feeling the soreness the next day, but it’s a good soreness! Love this hike, I highly recommend, especially in October when the crowds were minimal and the aspens scattered randomly along the hike were so beautiful.

The best Fall hike! Bring the family.

The lake is breathtaking! The only caveat was that the hike is short but you can add on, and the crowds.

Beautiful views! $10 parking fee cash or credit.

Prettythe whole way up and down with great views at the lake

Not too difficult. Took 2 hours even though we stopped for some photos. The toilets in the parking area are extremely dodgy... Bring your own toilet paper!

10-13-18 we started in DL Bliss at the north end of the trail. The Park Ranger and signage stated this trail / campground would close 10-15-18 for the season. The Ranger indicated the trail could still be hiked, but the closest you could park to the trailhead would be just over a mile. There was a $10 fee (1 car, 2 people).

Outstanding hike, but we were time limited and only made it 3.5 miles out before turning around.

Saw many Steller’s Jays and large woodpeckers, not certain on type.

Beautiful hike!! The trail is very hard to follow but it doesn’t really matter, it is very difficult to get lost! Just follow the creek and you won’t get lost. This was a very fun hike, not too difficult at all and lots of area to explore. We ended up taking the very low creek/river bed back to the trailhead and it was a great way to take back. Beautiful and fun!

My first hike EVER! It was tumultuous for me as an amateur but I pressed in and got to the beautiful Eagle Lake and it was totally worth it!!

10-15-18 Parking lot is closed, but it is only 1/4 mile to the trailhead. Cascade Falls is to the left and this trail (to the right) appeared to be labeled Desolation Wilderness. The notice posted at the trailhead stated that from 8-29-18 until 12-31-20 the Desolation Wilderness is closed unless you have a permit (see photo). THERE ARE NO PERMITS IN THE BOX. Cascade Falls was awesome!

Super fun bouldering toward the upper part of the falls. The trail is not always real obvious, but you’re always in cell service and GPS works great. Lots of friendly people on the trail, too. The lower part of the trail is pretty shady and there are a lot of picture perfect places to stop along the way.

I have mixed feelings about this hike.
The trailhead is somewhat easy to access (located at the very back of bay view campground). Limited parking especially on busy weekends.
You get incredible views of Emerald Bay from several view points on your way up.
There are lots of switchbacks on your way up. LOTS of elevation gain!
Granite Lake is lovely and a very nice place to take a breather.
There are two peaks:
The northern peak has better views of emerald bay. I did not see a clear trail to this peak.
The southern peak is about 200ft higher in elevation, has better views of desolation wilderness. The trail to this peak is very clear.
Dog friendly!

It was a pretty easy trail to take and the views at the bottom on the lake are amazing. I went on a Friday and I only came across 5 people the whole time
