This is one of my favorite lakes in the Wasatch. A good all around hike with a fantastic mountain lake at the end, that you can swim in. The trail gets fairly steep in some spots but nothing too bad.

Great hike to take the pups on with gorgeous views! Would definitely do the hike again on spring and fall! Mostly shaded single track trail with dirt and some boulders throughout. Had a nice quick stream crossing where you walked over some rocks and boulders to keep your feet dry. Almost all the fall leaves were on the ground already so the backdrop had a lot of bare trees. Not too crowded on a Saturday surprisingly. The drive up the road to the trailhead is pretty rocky and rough which was not very fun but the hike and views were well worth it. Parking lot was small so we parked on the roadside. Was glad to see that they honored the National Parks Pass so we didn’t have to pay any fees.

Some snow on the trail (October 13), doable without crampons or microspikes but definitely faster and more fun with them! :) Gorgeous weather, aspens are still yellow and falling, lots of snow on the peaks and the lake is starting to freeze over! Wore a tank top on the way up but was pretty cold at the top and bundled up for the way down. Less than two hours up and about an hour to run down (with photos :). Love this hike!!

First time up and I was nervous. Turned out not to be so bad. First mile and a half is a fairly easy incline last mile I had to stop and go slow. That is also where the icy parts are that were doable with poles. We also had a Welcome committee 3 moose (1 Bulls and 2 cows). There are 2 really rocky sections as well. Totally worth it. Its just beautiful.

Beautiful trail!! It took me just under 2 hours to get to the top (took a few breaks). The trail isn’t extremely hard or anything it’s just long/has a consistent moderate incline. There are some icy patches right now but they were doable without poles. It was gorgeous at the top and there were a few baby moose!

Great! Last 1/4 mile is covered in ice as of 10-19; it’s easy getting around it while ascending but you’ll easily fall descending if you don’t bring spikes or poles.

Great trail to take the pup out on! Keep an eye out for the moose about 1/2 way up. He loves to hang out in the thicket by the pines.

beautiful scenery. but be careful, it is very icy right now and very difficult to hike without poles or spikes. I almost fell twice on the way down.

Tough trail if you’re not in shape — uphill the entire first half, and pretty steep. Also, the trail was already coated in ice, which made the going slow toward the top (especially on the way down). Poles or chains recommended. But the view at the top was gorgeous, the lake was so serene — and we had two wild moose sightings (from a safe distance)! Highly recommend, just be prepared.

Very much a tough trail if you are not in shape. The trail is very rocky and hilly but well traveled. Take plenty of water and take plenty of breaks to keep from getting winded.

It was steep but the view was pretty cool once you get there. We backpacked so we hiked at night and woke up to a beautiful fall view. Did it about 1.5 weeks ago

Really cool views. Pretty steep in some spots, but not too bad. Straight forward hike.

This is definitely not hard. It’s moderate. It seems long though and not as pretty as red pine in my opinion. The lake is amazing though and better than red for sure. Without the ending I’d have given a 3 star actually.

Awesome hike, but it is certainly not 8.9 miles like other posts state. This is a good preparer for something like Jacobs ladder to lone peak. The last mile is definitely the steepest. Easy to get lost also. I did this one alone and there was no one around after the second waterfall. It’s pretty tough, but rewarding.

This trail is probably one of the easier hard rated hikes. If you’ve done Jacobs ladder and summited or even upper bells, this will be pretty easy. Awesome views at the top though. Really fun for a day hike.

A great hike with such breathtaking view in every direction. Even hit snow just before silver lake and then 4 in at glance. Stunning

Very challenging hike. But worth the views!

I wish I had more time at the top. Absolutely peaceful lake and views. Hike was very enjoyable. I want to go back in the fall!

Talk about kick butt! this trail is pretty up an incline the whole way! my dog loved everything about the trail. so beautiful with the leaves changing as well. recommend going when it's a little cooler.

started at 0745 and the weather was great. cool with an overcast that lasted until we reached the lakes which was acheived at 1000. saw a bull moose in the meadow up top. absolutely enjoyed it and the wonderful scenery. i only had time to hike one trail due to being on a business trip and glad i chose this one.

I really loved this hike! You have a b
view almost every step of the way. I clocked in at 4.6 miles total though, but worth it. We saw 5 deer and a bull moose right off the trail. My 4 and 6 year olds were able to do this with slight help. The dirt road leading up to this is pretty bumpy though, that was the worst part.

Make sure you follow the trail to the other two lakes next to Lake Blanche. A beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. Well worth the trek.

So...I kinda had mixed thoughts on this hike, but still thought it was good. I was actually kinda underwhelmed by Lake Blanche...the actual lake. That being said I thought that the two smaller lakes on the backside of Lake Blanche we're alot more picturesque probably because of you look down on those two lakes....or at least you first do. The other thing about this hike that is pretty cool right now are the fall colors. I have to admit that I hit this hike a little too late. If I would have done it a month or two ago the lake would have been more full and the waterfall on the backside of lake Blanche would have been bigger. Last but not least this was a pretty good workout.....at least for me it was.

Best hike ever!

This one is a beast! I was ready for a steep incline (hello, it's a peak) but whew! I was also not prepared for the fairly scary bouldering along an entire ridge. It was made scarier for me due to a lightning strike that tossed rocks up in the air nearby. The trail disappears and you are climbing on rocks with steep drops on either side. It is also windy, so don't wear any hats that wind can grab and pull off- you will lose it forever.

Gorgeous trail. We were in a race against the fading daylight so I would rate this hard vs moderate merely for the speed we were going. If you have Verizon, you will NOT get service for your map so make sure you download the map before you get to the parking lot. We hiked the last 0.5 mile in the dark. The views were absolutely stunning and as we only had time for a quick (under 2 hours) hike, this one was perfect. Huge scenery payout for the time invested.

Gorgeous fall colors!! Start early (before dawn) because this hike gets extremely busy/crowded as the morning goes on.

Well worth it. The lakes are gorgeous.

This is one of the best hikes I’ve done in Utah. The trail to Red Pine Lake is lovely, not too steep, adorned by aspens and beautiful views. From there the climb to the ridge features stunning views and solid footing. No soul-crushing scree fields that leave your boots full of rocks. The ridge and summit push require some intense scrambling with plenty of exposure, but it’s all worth it. I finished the round trip in 4:55. It was quicker than I expected.

I wouldn't call this trail "hard" at all, just a bit rough on the knees and the fact that you're constantly dodging rocks on the trail.

The fall colors and the wind rushing through the trees with this insanely nice weather is worth the trip in itself. The views are of course gorgeous. I saw a few Mountain Goats and Mule Deer along with some trout in the stream leading to one of the lakes but no Moose this go round.
