Wow! The waterfall was beautiful. There were a lot of people. The hike back out was pretty steep, but well work the trip.

I did this hike today and it was very nice. The view is so beautiful at the end! The hike isn’t too strenuous and I would rate it moderate to hard at the very end. Be careful with yellow jackets (there was a nest), I got stung and ended up with a severe allergic reaction and a rescue team had to come get me. So if you’re allergic, take your pen/meds with you!

Great little mostly paved trail. Killer views near the top. Watch for bears, though.

This is a Smoky Mountain classic. The second mile to the overlook is intense but the views are totally worth it! Great mix of forest setting in the beginning to panoramic views at the top. Wife and I had a great time and would definitely would recommend!

Yup, STEEP. Felt like more than 3-4 miles up to the top, but when you go the way back down, you’ll be “oh that’s all?” :-) I enjoyed hiking this trail even though I had to make some stops to catch my breath! Spot a black bear on the trail, and had to wait some good 10-15 minutes before it left the trail.

Breaktaking experiences of caves, patterned rocks, and mountain views.

Great hike! The trail is black top and is very easy. We hiked on a Sunday early afternoon and it was very crowded. The falls are beautiful but there were at least 75-100 people there. We continued past the falls. The black top ended and so did the crowds. On the way back we saw a very young black bear cub. Beautiful day and views.

First thing to note is that this is a different trail than looking glass falls which several people seemed confused about. The only water fall is a very small one near the start. The trail is not steep but the 3 miles out is entirely uphill. The view at the top is definitely worth it though!

Okay hike. Completely paved, which can be nice but also less exciting. There were tons of people there when we went but understandably so: the falls were gorgeous! There is even a little path to talk to get a lower vantage point of the falls.

very pretty. slippery rocks of course so make sure your shoes have tread on them before going. the trail winds from the land into the water to the rocks to get to the waterfall.

Worth every step!

This was a nice hike! Overall, it wasn't as hard as we thought it would be, but it was definitely challenging. It had rained a lot the night before we hiked and the trail was extremely muddy and wet, with water running down the trail in a stream at some points. I think we could have done it a bit faster if not for that. The trail surface is definitely rocky and rooty, and I would highly highly advise hiking boots. We started at 6:45am, summited at 10:30am, left the top at 11am, and finished around 2pm. It was cloudy at the top with pretty much no views, oh well. More about the journey for this one. We were the first hikers of the day to summit and encountered about 30 people on the way back down, about half of which were backpacking and half of which were day hiking. Other notes: it's definitely longer than 10.4 miles if you start at the parking lot and end at the top of the observation tower. By our estimates/GPSes, over 11 miles. Also, there are a few switchbacks on the trail that you could miss if you weren't paying attention. We encountered a group of people who were lost on a false trail and we almost went down the wrong one once.

Great hike! We hiked it with our young children and got to see two bears!

This was such a fun trail with multiple beautiful overlooks at the top. Most people turn left onto the AT when they make it to the intersection and are met with a steep incline and tons of rocks, but if you curve to the right and continue onto Byron Reese, you will have a slow and much more doable incline. We did this and thought the trail was fairly easy because of it. Wear good shoes and socks! The trail is so rocky.

This is a paved trail, great views just very busy in the summer

Lovely views, lovely hike. The climb is never steep, just steady and moderate. We hiked up for sunset and soaked in our first Eastern sights of the Milky Way along with a hand-full of meteors from the Perseid shower. Other than a few passers-by, we had the place to ourselves.

Easy hike but very busy

Great easy hike!!!

Great workout. Not a scenic “hike”.

In April of 2018, did most of this trail. Nice hike while camping in the area. Took a short recommended detour to the Appalachian Highlands Science Learning Center just off the trail then returned to the trailhead due to other time commitments.

Got there by 9 AM and parked easily. Easy hike but rained the entire way back. Great waterfall and saw a Bear cub on the trail on the way back.

I want to say first that I only hike about 3-5 times a year as I live at sea level.

THIS HIKE KICKED MY #%*

I hiked this yesterday and I can barely walk today. I thought reaching the top meant that going down would be easy but it wasn’t. My legs were giving out the whole way down. Jelly legs.

I work out about an hour a day 5 days a week including swimming and weight training. But apparently that doesn’t prepare one for a hike like this!

It was beautiful especially the first half. And the view at the top was nice but not the best I have seen.

Playing in the creek at the trailhead after the hike was a great treat.

My 11 and 17 year old girls made it to the top but my 7 year old stopped at the Ap Trail.

I would do it again but would love to train more for it. A great accomplishment for me and a great memory.

The day I went it was super muddy and slippery so definitely be careful coming back down!

Loved the scenic trail and the destination is breathtaking! Hike is very strenuous but worth it in the end!

gorgeous view and fun water hole to play in

loved the views. Truly worth the drive. Would like to go in fall and even start over night.

first trail hike in quite a log time. not too difficult and saw alot of wildlife. good hike

Great place!! Short hike down stream then follow the river bed to the falls. Ton of people.

Awesome hike. Saw two little bears about a half mile into the trail. There are so many amazing sights along the trail and the terrain keeps changing. You’ll cross streams, crawl through little caves and scramble over boulders. There’s so much to see we spent six hours out there. Bring a lot of drinks and you can’t put on enough bug spray.
