What's not to love? Pretty and child friendly.

This was a nice morning hike! Took my dog for the first time and it wasn’t too hard for him. It’s beautiful at sunrise! It took about an hour to hike the whole thing!

a little rocky but a great day/workout. we would definitely do it again. the water and views were beautiful.

Perfect hike! Beautiful!

Two families, 5 kids under 6 years old and everyone had an amazing time! Truly beautiful and scenic hike through various ecosystems, shaded mesquite trees and towering Sonoran desert cactus. Lots to see and take in, and lovely views of Red Mountain. Will definitely go back!

Perfect with kids or a small dog! Easy walk with a few dips and turns to make things interesting. The scenery is awesome! My little family loves it.

Went at night. great views. steep at times. stairs half way up that are steep. afterwards you can hit downtown tempe

Was so beautiful in the evening! The only downside was too many people. There were probably at least 50 people I saw. I would still come back though! Waterfall was a nice thing to see

nice short hill of a climb. Took my 4 yr old and 12 yr old along. Perfect views for taking sunset pictures with the city lights and South Mountain in the distance.

trail is a great quick way to get a sample of what south mountain has to offer, but like others have mentioned, the trail should be rated moderate due to the steep inclines/descents on the beginning and end of the ridge.

I loved this trail! It was a great morning hike and had a beautiful end area to explore. This is doable for all ages and dogs!

on Hieroglyphic Trail

Got out on Monday. Trail was still wet in places and just a little soupy. However, it was still a good stroll in the Superstitions. The Petroglyphs did not disappoint. Even saw a fish of some sort in a pond that was near the etchings. Only downside (for me) was noticing the number of people that had their faces still stuck in their phones as they walked. I admire them on a level though as I'm certain I would have fallen numerous times due to the number of rocks to step over!

Great easy walk with views of downtown and the mountains beyond.

Nice little hike just north of Downtown Tempe! Perfect for when you need a little escape. Get off the trail and relax up in one of the numerous rock cutouts/caves.

It's a very nice trail had the luck to enjoy it in the rain had waterfalls and caves had a blast would definitely go back to this one.

Beautiful sunrise hike with my friend Stephanie but no waterfall...very muddy in areas from the rain. Lots of birds chirping, Enjoy!!!

This would be a good hike for an ambitious beginner. The views are ok, there are some good inclines, there is a lot of loose rock, and it seems to be extra dusty. It's definitely a city hike, ample parking, trash cans, shade and water available at the beginning/end. It's pretty clean-I did see a couple of plastic bags in bushes here and there. I don't understand why people bring bags to clean up their dog doo and then leave the bags along the side of the trail. I'd say if you aren’t going to take it with you to a trash can, it'd be better not to clean it up, but to kick it way off the trail-not ideal, but I think I'd personally rather have people do that than leave their plastic bags full of poop there. Anyway, I'd say this trail is not easy...maybe the easier side of moderate. I did see an elderly woman with a cane, but I also saw kids who were out of breath. The steep loose rock trails make it more of any easier moderate than easy, in my opinion. There is one great big structure that looks like a giant water collection facility, maybe? I don’t know, but it’s ugly and kind of a turnoff. Our dogs really enjoyed themselves and even got their picture taken with the miniature US flag at the top. It wasn’t exciting, wasn’t my favorite, but it was good enough for dog walking and getting some fresh air.

pretty cool

Hieroglyphic Trail is vey rocky but absolutely doable. Slight to no elevation change. Our three little dogs did great... but it was very crowded for them both humans and other pouches. Busiest Trail we have trekked and we have been on many around Arizona. Absolutely recommend going perhaps during the week to avoid the park & hiking heavy traffic.

Really easy, short, and pretty hike. For all age groups!

Fun short hike

Very easy, Very busy. Went on a Thursday and it was crazy busy crawling-with people but it was a beautiful day the views are spectacular and is in the middle of Phoenix and Scottsdale so very easy to find.

Very busy with a lot of families and kids. Easy enough walk to location. Hard to get any good photos with so many people in a tight space

Nice walk with some cool views. Decently marked but if you get off the trail it’s easy to connect with another one or find your way back to your trail.

Great daily.

Try it at night. Views.

We loved it. Took the my boys 7 and 9 yr olds and they did great!
