when the water is very low you can walk up to the bridge that is normally pretty far under water and you can just walk around quite a bit and even drive from the parking lot in ct all the way down to another small parking area in Massachusetts. nice little drive :) plenty of places to get out and to go explore, i dont recall seeing any no parking signs so you can stop anywhere you want

My favorite trail. It’s beautiful, peaceful, and offers a few activities! Gorgeous beach. Plenty of picnic tables and grills. I love to get lost with my dog in the trail around the lake.

The recording of this trail is not accurate. We parked where it said to and there was no trail between parking lot and road. The other side of the parking lot was water. The description says it is used for canoeing and kayaking. Therefore, should be clearly stated that THIS IS NOT A HIKING TRAIL and the description should not say "trail".

Great family walking trail but equally good for trail running. It can get crowded on a nice summer weekend.

Just a perfect walk. Not difficult by any stretch. Rocky in areas, flat in others, and a great way to spend an early sunday morning.

I walked down the trail a little ways found a secret little path and went swimming. Water is very nice though somewhat shallow

Hardly a "hard" hike. Definitely more "easy to moderate". We parked in lower lot (upper lot was closed) and actually hiked the white Trail which ran parallel to the pond, intersecting with the red trail (basically a fire road) and then back to the upper lot. Lots of trees down and very muddy after all the rain we had but, nonetheless, a beautiful trail filled with lots of little waterfalls and views of the pond. Clocked this trail at 5.2 miles not 3.3 but we did sort of make our own way around.

Wear bug spray and long clothes - this place is infested with ticks.

Snow covered trail but nicely packed. Beautiful.

I live this trail. It’s a little bit of an investment of time, not your usual stroll in the park (pardon the pun). The pond adds a nice magic to it all.

Great for kids and dogs, not too much traffic. Had a 4, 6, 10 and 11 year old. Challenging but not too difficult for the little ones but interesting for the older kids.

I love this trail! It feels like a moderate hike to me with outstanding views of the lake. It's well marked and there are a number of options to take. Park in the boat launch area if you don't want to pay.

Love this trail for quick walk. Mostly flat and well traveled. Peaceful with nice view of river. Also when I measured it is actually 4.7 miles round trip not 3.7.

Beautiful views, very quiet and peaceful. Wonderful for young children to enjoy

Actually it’s 4.7 miles in and out from parking lot to end and back. Very peaceful and scenic.

Awesome hike!

Very nice walk, be aware of rocks and roots if you go. It is a lovely loop for walking a dog, lots of swim spots. We were able to keep our dog off leash on the trail although it is against park rules.

The main trail appears to be a fire road (?) that climbs/traverse the ridge on the W. side of Squantz Pond. Its smooth going for the most part with a few sustained climbs.descents that must contribute to the "hard" difficulty rating. There are some interesting large boulder formations and rock faces along the trail and a great view of the pond from the meadow at the South end. I enjoyed it on a nice day.

Nice easy hike following waters edge for most part. Roots and rocks primarily. Quiet at southern end and noisy at north end near the road

Great for trail running and a nice walk for the dog and I when we're looking for a more relaxing pace instead of a true hike

Good elevation for 10 year old to make to the top, good view.

I walked this last year, haven't gone back yet. it was very nice, kind of long but plenty of nice areas to stop and rest a bit.

Other than a few people fishing, and had attitudes towards the kayakers, it was absolutely great. We go there early so we could get a good parking spot. Had an awesome time going upstream then down a ways. Crystal clear water. A lot of areas to explore. Not boring at all if you are with friends and family having a good relaxing time.....

not dog friendly, aside from that. flat and boring

Nice calm river to kayak, canoe on. Tomorrow we are going to try going toward the Quabbin as last time we went the opposite direction. Highly recommended

A pretty spot. Lots of nice little peninsulas to explore. A lot of history here walking along the old Rabbit train bed that went through the Quabbin towns to Orange. There are the ruins of the old Bondsville mills as well. An interesting walk, a good place to sneak a swim, though the water is freezing cold. A pretty old dam and waterfall.
