This hike was extremely beautiful but the time it took and the mud was terrible. it was so slippery I fell and couldn't get up for 5 minutes because of how hard I slipped. very dangerous after rain. Don't bring children. very difficult :( would not recommend after rain

This trail is no longer maintained. It's mostly used for ATVs. There were quite a few swampy areas I waded through - the water was up to my thighs. About 2 miles in, it became impossible to see the trail. Rather than getting lost I turned around.

Was a decent trek but I wouldn't recommend it - there are way better trails in Kauai.

My girlfriend and I are in our early 50s. 1.5 hours in and about the same out. Totally worth it once you get to the end.

Decent view at the end but the walk down has no views. Do yourself a favour and walk Nu’alolo Trail instead.

This trail is moderate the first 1.5 miles. Hard the 1.5 mi - 2.5 miles. Very Rigorous if you continue on to the ridges. Lots of guided ropes and plenty of fun, a true jungle experience. Felt like Tarzan. Gorgeous Panoramic views of half the island essentially!

This walk is definitely worth the hike down. My friend and I did it barefoot so we didn’t bust a plug in our thongs (flip flops) as it was a little boggy at the top. There’s several rock pools to swim in at the bottom. There’s only about 8 parks at the top so if you can, park elsewhere and walk to the entrance. We swam in one calm little rockpool and about 5 minutes later large waves started washing into it, so even if you’re experienced near the water, be sure to take care.

Incredible views at the end of the trail. You must visit this trail if you enjoy the Napali coastline and all that it has to offer.

Great hike! Challenging with the elevation drops and gains however worth the reward at the end!

We arrived on a rainy day and debated whether or not to attempt this trail. It was very muddy and the trail was in bad shape with clay-mud, roots and overuse. However we didn’t have to wait that long to get a parking space so we went for it and we are glad we did! Great reward at the end!

This hike was exactly as advertised. Downhill on the way out through jungle-type setting that eventually opens up and finishes with jaw-dropping views. Wouldn't have minded some additional views along the way, but the end result will make you forget any complaints.

This trail is well-maintained, easy to follow, and offers beautiful views. When we hiked this morning there was plenty of mist that kept us cooled off. The entire trail was muddy but with a walking stick it was completely manageable. Highly recommended.

Mostly shaded and very wet and muddy after some rain. Agree with Albert about turning at 1.75 mile marker although I found the views to be pretty decent, especially after the bench.

I ended up bailing just before the second roped descent as the views didn’t look as though they’d improve.

After you get back have a wash in the stream - take a left after the bridge and a few 100m down the bank there’s an easy place to jump in and wash your legs and shoes.

Would love to come back on a drier day and try and push to the actual summit beyond this trail.

Short but pretty steep hike. Not too challenging, just have to use some concentration while walking. My brother (19) did this without shoes and was just fine. When you get down the trail, keep going left to find a really cool swimming hole. Would do this again!

Short but steep with a must experience ending. Slippery when wet, you will get muddy. only about 10parking spaces. Can park at the golf course free with $15 purchase at the pro shop and walk a quarter mile to the trail head.

À must do if you are in the Princeville area! Prepare to get muddy feet. Beautiful views and rock jumping into the pools. The whole family loved it!

Amazing scenery

Mostly downhill on the way there, so a tougher uphill trek back up. Muddy in the beginning. Took us (mid-20’s, females) 1.5 hrs on the way there and 1 hr on the way back. VIEWS ARE SO WORTH IT THOUGH!! Make sure you go all the way to the end of the trail to the rocky look out.

Great view at the end that you will work for!!

With the recent storms parts of the trail are treacherous. There are some very muddy and slippery sections before the lava rock cliffs and an area just before you get to the cliffs is quite a scramble. The pools are neat and the view of the waves is incredibly beautiful; but the hike out, although short, is fairly difficult at this time.

This was a fun little hike. It was super wet and muddy, but we had a great time. Adults and kids both were able to do it. Dont forget to keep exploring to the left after you get to the bottom. Loved that we were able to swim in it. Just make sure it is low tide.

One of the most beautiful trails in the world (not a hyperbole). Stunningly beautiful - the mountains stumble into the ocean. Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the beach and the waterfall. Imo, this isn't a trail that you rush in and out of; Savor every moment of this remote, rugged landscape. The lush jungle on one side and the blues of the ocean on the other - this is my favorite hike in Hawaii, maybe the world (at least so far!).

The hike is a fun sloppy mess to get down to the water. Trekking poles are a MUST! We kept laughing hearing people slip and land on their butts and yelp at the same time. Watching a stream of people navigate down this way was quite entertaining. Once you get down the waterfalls and of course the bath are simply awesome. The only problem? BIG SURF. Over 30 people have been swept out to their deaths. By sheer dumb luck we were there during low tide during the off season and even with this 4-6 foot swells were constantly coming in. The Queen's Bath is totally worth the time it takes to check tide tables. Enjoy!!

Absolutely awesome! Fantastic views. Easy hike in and moderate incline coming out (the entire way). Go the extra 30 yards across the narrow rock path at the end. Well worth it.

So incredible. Wear real hiking shoes. Bring a hiking stick. Prepare to get muddy!

Beautiful, paradise hike in 2014 when I hiked to Hanakapi’ai Beach and then on to the Falls! Unbelievable views.

Amazing view at the end! Like others are saying, not a ton to see for the 3 miles out and back, however, I’d say it’s worth it ! It was very foggy and muddy and drizzling . Took us about 2 hours to get there because we were going slow as to not slip and fall . Way back took us basically half of that because we trekked up pretty quickly (was a good workout!) hiking poles are basically necessary because it was so slick !
