Very nice hike down to pools and the top of the falls. I recommend driving down to the trailhead if you have 4 wheel drive. I met some nice gals for Germany and the Netherlands and we hiked together - fairly high traffic and you will slide if your shoes don’t have good traction or spikes. Enjoy!

Take DEET or similar as there are lots of mossies.

Did not go to the final waterfall but even so the view was spectacular and worthwhile. Muddy, sure, but just dunk your feet at the numerous crossings and wash it off. Really enjoyed the first bamboo section just after the initial crossing.

Great hike! Challenging with the elevation drops and gains however worth the reward at the end!

Wonderful trail with something for everyone. We enjoyed the hike including the great scenic views and awesome reward at the end with the waterfall.

Great adventure! Super muddy and trials aren’t well marked, but it’s fun finding your own path, and finishing at a beautiful water fall. We couldn’t find the first waterfall, so we went to the secret falls. This is where the pictures are taken. There were places to jump into the water.

This hike was exactly as advertised. Downhill on the way out through jungle-type setting that eventually opens up and finishes with jaw-dropping views. Wouldn't have minded some additional views along the way, but the end result will make you forget any complaints.

We really enjoyed this hike which was our first in Kauai. As others have warned it was muddy, but nothing too bad. The hike included a little of everything-hiking through forests, mud and some scrambling. Lots of great views throughout the climb up. I definitely recommend continuing past the picnic tables at end for some fun scrambling to incredible views. We were the second car in the lot at the trailhead when we started at 8. Lot was full when we returned.

This trail is well-maintained, easy to follow, and offers beautiful views. When we hiked this morning there was plenty of mist that kept us cooled off. The entire trail was muddy but with a walking stick it was completely manageable. Highly recommended.

Mostly shaded and very wet and muddy after some rain. Agree with Albert about turning at 1.75 mile marker although I found the views to be pretty decent, especially after the bench.

I ended up bailing just before the second roped descent as the views didn’t look as though they’d improve.

After you get back have a wash in the stream - take a left after the bridge and a few 100m down the bank there’s an easy place to jump in and wash your legs and shoes.

Would love to come back on a drier day and try and push to the actual summit beyond this trail.

Amazing views. Not too bad climb. But it's muddy. Better to bring a walking stick. There were few walking sticks that people used at the beginning of the trail. Find a good one and that will help you coming down.

Like others said, lots of mud. We did the trail two days ago and the river seemed like it might have been higher than other times. I had read reviews of people being able to keep at least one foot dry, no way that was happening for us. In places you had to walk through calf deep water or risk jumping from slick rock to slick rock. Trail can be hard to find and there are many offshoots. Overall, it's a great adventure in a beautiful place.

On this my second time on this incredible trail I was accompanied by my son and daughter in law, both very adventurous hikers. The trail is, as before, poorly marked with little indication of where to attempt the numerous stream crossings. As others have warned, this is NOT a hike for inexperienced or less than very fit hikers and definitely NOT a hike for young children. The water level in the stream can rise significantly without warning due to rains existing far from the trail. You will get lost on this trail and will have to back track on occasion. Twisted ankles and other trip and fall injuries are all to possible. Don’t expect a fellow hiker to be nearby for help. This trail is very lightly traveled.

Having said all that, the beauty of the hike and the accomplishment of reaching the triple falls makes this an epic hike and well worth the effort, if you exercise caution.

Definitely a must do if you are in Kaua’i! Good for all skill levels. Views are simply breathtaking !

Amazing scenery

Easy Hike along the coast with scenic views. We hiked all the way to Gillin’s Beach and were lucky to see a Monk Seal on the beach there.

Amazing hike! We went around 2PM on a Monday and the parking lot was almost full. It took about 2 hours for us to get to the peak and about 45 minutes on the way back down. The trail is heavily shaded until you get to the picnic benches. My dad wore basic tennis shoes and I wore chacos and while we were both fine, I would recommend proper hiking shoes. The hike is a pretty constant incline but there are a few spots to stop and rest along the way if needed.

Once you get to the "top" with the picnic benches, go past and to the left along the ridge. It's definitely a climb to the peak but nothing too crazy- the path is decently wide and the rocks are pretty sturdy. It's 110% worth the extra effort because the views are incredible.

Mostly downhill on the way there, so a tougher uphill trek back up. Muddy in the beginning. Took us (mid-20’s, females) 1.5 hrs on the way there and 1 hr on the way back. VIEWS ARE SO WORTH IT THOUGH!! Make sure you go all the way to the end of the trail to the rocky look out.

I didn’t do the hike. Saw a group of 6 arguing with the police and getting ticketed at the top of the trail.

Nice walk to a quiet beach. Dry track the day we came down so easy walk, not too slippery. The surf was quite rough, a few people brave enough for a swim, not sure if that is the norm or if it was just a rough day? Beautiful beach with views to the lighthouse.

Great moderate hike with a handful of slick areas and bits with loose sand. Just under four miles out and back, rewarded with great view of the canyon and a very chilly waterfall pool in which we took a quick swim with our 9- and 12-year old. Plenty of shade but water is a must - toughest stretch is the final third of a mile back to the parking lot.

It has been very rainy and after watching many people approach the trail and head back, we went for it anyway (much to my anxious hubby’s dismay!) The trek down was slippery and harrowing, but the breathtaking prize at the bottom was worth every mud encrusted fingernail!
Be brave, you only live once and this journey made me teary-eyed at the beauty and the simple strength of the human spirit to do those things which others only dream of! Mahalo!

Earned the views

Great view at the end that you will work for!!

This trail is amazing. It is worth the trip.
******please bring water and snacks*******
We completely forgot our water and snacks in the car. How do you just forget something like that you ask? Easy, we didn’t think we were going to go the distance. We met four angels on the way back who were gracious enough to give me an apple and a protein bar and two more who gave us water. If it had not been for those blessings I would not have made it out. If you ladies are reading this thank you and bless you. You were my blessing yesterday.
The trail is a long time down then a long time going up. It definitely works those thighs.

it was great bring bathing suit

One of the most beautiful trails in the world (not a hyperbole). Stunningly beautiful - the mountains stumble into the ocean. Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the beach and the waterfall. Imo, this isn't a trail that you rush in and out of; Savor every moment of this remote, rugged landscape. The lush jungle on one side and the blues of the ocean on the other - this is my favorite hike in Hawaii, maybe the world (at least so far!).

Petit trail sympa la cascade a l’arrivée est belle. Les vues y sont magnifiques.

A decent hike though you can bypass half of it with a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The end of the hike is awesome and totally worth it. The waterfall is cool but the views along the slope just before are really grand. I strongly suggest bringing trekking poles since the incline going down the sandy smooth ridge hits 45 degrees and if there is even a little bit of rain I can see sliding all the way down...

Really enjoyed this hike! It was worth going past the picnic tables for a higher view of both the ocean and Kapaa.

Worth the short hike to a very pretty beach without a lot of people. The hike definitely could be a little slippery when wet.
