Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the great view at the end that was supposed to make it all worth it :( it was really foggy and you could barely see the people on the vista point. The trail itself is way below average to me. The downhill is sketchy when wet and you only get views at the end, and the entire time you're walking through the most boring jungle. Definitely not worth it if it was raining and you're suspecting overcast.

Was on the easy side of moderate rained about 1/2 of the hike can be slippery in spots so be prepared to get muddy

My wife and I hiked this trail yesterday. Slippery due to recent rains but the veiws of the Napali coast at the end were worth the slippery trail to get there. The hike out is uphill so it took a little more effort. We did the round trip in 4 hourd but if it were dry it would only take 3 hours. The trail is 3.8 miles each way and you can even explore a little further if you go past the railing at the end.

beautiful trail with some parts to get your heart pumping haha.

I suggest to do just the Canyon trail and back. The view is great and the trail is fun. The Black pipe is not worth it at all.

We did this hike with a toddler in a backpack.

We did not have 4WD so had to walk along the muddy road to get to the trail head. No biggie... just make sure to allow for time.

A good portion of the trail is covered. Quite open and very hot closer to the top.

Great views and some cool little spots for the nugget to explore.

Got caught in heavy rain on the way back on the road. I imagine parts of this trail would be very slick when wet.

Excellent trail. Nearly all downhill en route to the end views and therefore entirely uphill heading back. Varying jungle forests and lots of roots to climb over but the views at the end are dramatic and worth it. Nā Pali coast views never let you down, so keep going even down to the dangerous precipice.

Incredible views! Going down is pretty easy when it's not too muddy. Going back is all uphill and slippery when wet.

Hiked this trail and it came out closer to 7.9 miles and approximately 2100 of vertical. Some sections Can slippery especially with a recent rainfall. Excellent hike would recommend. Those who are in good physical shape this is not a very challenging hike can easily be done without breaks. Those in moderate condition some breaks and closer to four hours. The way back is more challenging.

Great views of the North Coast accompany the easy trails at the beginning of this hike. The views soon are covered by the jungle that you will be scrambling through. Muddy hills provide exciting, at times challenging, hiking but after less than a mile of scrambling, you'll come across boardwalks which provide easy trails once again.

The boardwalks carry you through the jungle and across the bog to a lookout point which was unfortunately thick with fog. The journey was definitely worth the time, the view would have just been the cherry.

Highly recommended to moderate hikers in sturdy sandals or shoes that can handle some mud.

We started at 11:00 am ish. Got to the river at 12:25. Rested there for a hour, then went back up. Ascent took 1 hour 39 minutes. We are a fit couple and we found this to be a challenge. Like idiots we left our water purifier and camelbacks at home. Boy they would have made this trek a bit less strenuous. The hike to the river is an accomplishment, not a new vista. You get that going down. Some very steep and muddy sections made the descent more difficult than others I have hiked. All in all a fun hike for those looking to be challenged.

Amazing hike. For those who hike regularly, this trail is not very difficult. Two or three very steep parts but so worth it. Highly recommend. Oh, and whoever said "save water for the hike back" you are a lifesaver. Water on the way back and at the end is much needed.

Decent hike, mostly shaded, great views at the end. Slippery and strenuous, took approx 4 hours with a short break at the turnaround. Popular trail, get there early and hike with pono.

Get there early as the lot fills up quick. Overall, an amazing hike. The trail is mainly wooded with slippery mud and exposed roots. However, the view at the end is amazing - haven’t experienced anything like that before. Make sure to go past the lookout point for an even better view if you’re not scared of heights. Glad I did this. Took 3 hours 45 minutes with a 30 minute stop at the end.

Go early for parking but great hike.

Absolutely gorgeous hike! The hike out is easy and mostly downhill so the hike back is more challenging. The view at the end is worth every bit of huffing and puffing on the way back. I would not go past the rail line if it has been raining recently, it can be very dangerous.

Very beautiful shaded trail through the rainforest. Lots of roots and some parts do get slippery. Took my wife and I four hours (including lunch at the view) carrying our toddler in a hiking backpack, getting to the view was easy, paid for the view on the way back. Hiking poles were definitely appreciated on the ascent back. Recommend to get there early as the parking lot was half full by 7:30am.

Beautiful views of the Na Pali Coast. This trail tricks you, it’s a quick and easy walk down to the views. But if you can’t go uphill for 3.25 miles after already hiking for an hour don’t do this trail. It’s a sweaty, stair master hike. At the bottom there is a narrow and steep trail to the end point, it’s a trip! You don’t have to go to the very end to get incredible views, but if you’re not afraid of shear cliff drops you should make the trek down. Including time at the bottom, snack and catch my breath moments on the hike back up, this took me 3.5 hours (relatively good shape, slow uphill hiker).

Muss auf der To Do Liste bei einem Aufenthalt in Kauai stehen! Noch nie vorher habe ich so etwas gesehen...

This hike is absolutely stunning. We had to be patient and wait for the clouds to roll out but when they did, oh baby! So beautiful and a fun, tricky hike with foot holds and mud. We loved it!

This was a beautiful hike. However we went a day or so after it rained pretty hard and it was extremely muddy. That made this trail much more difficult. Without that it would not have been bad. There are a few steep climbs. The sad thing was when we reached the peak of the canyon the fog had rolled in and we couldn’t see anything. The waterfall at the end was worth it though.

The view is amazing!

An astonishingly beautiful hike. The trail is mostly downhill through root-lined switchbacks, which is great on the way down, but definitely save some energy for the hike back.

The trail opens up on a wide cliff ledge with sweeping views of the canyon before continuing on to two waterfalls. The smaller of the two hides behind a rocky scramble, but the true gem of the hike is a few yards away. A short, easy scramble places you atop of Waipoo falls, with the canyon opening up far below you.

If you have a drone, definitely send it out for one of the most amazing views you will ever see.

This hike is worth it for the views that you won't see anywhere else in the world! I would say it is heavily trafficked--we left around 7:30-8:00 with 3-4 other couples getting started, and saw several groups coming in on our way out. The trail winds mostly downhill through a beautiful shaded forest with a few peeks of the ocean here and there, a blessing for those of us with, ahem, less melanin than others. It's not a hard trail but it is helpful to have walking sticks or poles for muddy spots. At the end of the trail you can go left over the terrifying ridge or veer right onto the small trail in the grass. I recommend doing both to see slightly different views, though this depends on your comfort level obviously. Ask one of the gazillion other people there to take your pic with those incredible cliffs in the background! The hike back up is the steepest the first half mile or so from the vista, then it's more of a steady, gentle climb. Took us an hour and a half--we're in great shape but used to hiking in the Pacific NW, which is much cooler. Try to leave as early as you can if you're heat sensitive like I am. You'll be thankful you did.

Loved this hike. The last mile marker reads 3.25 miles. Push to make your way to the end point quick, because your way back is going to be a grind uphill. The final views along the napali coast are fantastic, similar yet different to Kalepa Ridge trail (do Kalepa asap if you have not done it). Took us from 2:20 to around 5:45, and we did hang out at the final viewpoint for about 30-45 minutes. Allocate 3-5 hours depending on your pace/need to take breaks on the hike back to your car.

nice trail. it was tough for me not for my hubby. the falls were small but pretty. killer hill workout.

Amazing views. Definitely worth going past the initial look out point if you aren’t afraid of heights.

Easy and relaxing trail. We got aromatherapy of sweet grasses and orange flowering bushes. Gorgeous views of the canyon at the end of the trail. The day was perfect for hiking: sunny but breezy and not hot.

We started the hike in a misty cloud but it quickly cleared as we descended. The trail was extremely muddy and we slipped a few times. The view at the end was definitely worth the sweat and mud.
