My favorite

My girlfriend and I embarked on this loop last year with some friends. We didn’t quite know what we were getting ourselves into. I had thought we had made it to the top when we reached the outlook where most will have there lunch. Little did I know that was just the beginning of the rock scramble. This loop is challenging and that makes it incredibly fun! I wouldn’t recommend to any beginners unless they go with someone who’s done it before. Not that you’d get lost, but the rock scramble does get challenging, especially for those out of shape. My girlfriend and I love it and will be going back soon.

Definitely a challenge. I have a major fear of heights and I decided to just do it. (Nike would be proud y’all). Had second thoughts halfway into it but it’s like a roller coaster: you really can’t go back. Crowds tend to keep you moving forward and it’s challenging on the chains. The views, however, were so so worth it.

Moral of the story: WORTH IT. Brave your fear of heights but also be careful.

hard but worth while!

Beautiful, as expected it was pretty crowded. If you wait out a few mins between groups it is a pretty good climb without dealing with back and forth traffic on the narrow path given. Definitely, invest in hiking shoes for this hike. A lot of crazy college kids who would jump and run the hike. Patience is key to enjoy the beautiful view at the top!!!

The views throughout the entire trail are impressive..as is everything in Zion. Go early to avoid the crowds.

Amazing and Death Defying.

This trail has been on my list to go for about a year; finally decided to go. Parking was a little different, you have to buy your parking tickets online before going. There's no ticket attendant to sell you tickets to get in but there is a park ranger checking if you bought the ticket.

The trail wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be. I had thought the trail would be near water majority of the time but I was wrong. Overall hiking experience was fine, easy, small steep hills and plenty of shades from surrounding trees.

Waterfall is fun to watch as well. Although the waterfall didn't appear to be that big maybe because there was no snow or rain lately.

Attempted fishing as well but no luck. I fished at the two waterfalls in hopes that it was fish and it looks like it had fish but nothing was caught.

This trail is no secret, but it is everything it is hyped up to be and more. My friend and I did it as a spur on a longer overnight journey into Zion’s indescribably ethereal backcountry via the West Rim Trail, which I would highly recommend. There are beautiful views from the trail camps, and it really takes you through all of the classic Zion environments. The landing definitely slowed us down a bit thanks to the crowds. Walter’s Wiggles, the switchbacks on the initial climb up the canyon, are difficult, exposed and steep, but the spur up to Angel’s Landing itself is not as physically taxing as it is nerve-wracking—the Trail gets to be an extremely narrow ridge at points, and you feel like a bighorn sheep! As everyone has mentioned, start at the very first light, if not earlier—that’s the best way in the desert, to beat the heat and the peeps. Nothing like jumping into the Virgin when you descend back into the valley!

short hike, but uphill the entire way ... felt like much longer than 3 miles roundtrip because of how steep the trail is ... beautiful views at the top - completely worth the trek!

This hike is fantastic - some of the best views I’ve ever seen. The trail is long, but not too difficult in terms of being steep. I found the incline to be gradual. The trail is very doable. Slow and steady wins the race with this one!

It is not the hardest hike, but it is a classic hike with an epic photogenic rock and view. The hike works any time of day as the view is northerly so the sun never gets in the way of your shots. Although it is not that difficult of a hike, when the weather is warm it pays to bring extra water. Parking is plentiful, so no rush to get there early.

I have done this three times, each of the last three years, it is always best in the fall, but doing it in December means less crowds. The loop is a better way to do it, although the distance is closer to 11 miles that way. Going straight up and down means fighting the crowds coming up through the scramble, which is not fun for either direction. If you are doing it in the summer or fall, I strongly recommend avoiding the weekends or starting early. Arriving around 0800 will leave you waiting in lines on the weekend that can stretch for an hour or more at the start of the scramble. This hike is a lot of fun and a real sense of community develops along the way. Not good for pets at the scramble. Make sure to pack a lunch and enjoy the view at the top.

Oh boy, I've done longer hikes with more elevation change, but the switchbacks here are one of the toughest stretches of trail I've found. Trail gets easier after that part though, as it's just being careful navigating the narrow parts with a bunch of people passing you. Definitely among the best day hikes I've completed; the view at the end is utterly worth it!

Great hike! The loop is not quite as loop-like as I was hoping. But the overlook is beautiful! Would do again!

My dog and a few friends did this trail in late August of 2017. The trail was very difficult but immensely rewarding. Bring plenty of water and supplies, Views are stunning throughout the trail. Great hike for experienced and well trained dogs.

Incredible hike! A little chilly with some brutal wind, but the experience was worthwhile. Be prepared for some serious rock scrambles. My hiking buddy and I were very surprised by the amount of snow still on the top of some of the trails beyond the poplar summit. Made for some challenging conditions on the way to and from the fire tower.

Great trail with amazing views. Agree with other reviews about it being a moderate trail. Stick to the trail and you'll be fine.

Tried this trail for the first time today and I loooved it! I definitely think the rating of moderate is appropriate. I would recommend starting on the left side as you really do get the more lackluster part of the trail out of the way. You’ll know when you find that magical part for sure! Definitely some tricky rocks and water crossings. I brought my dog but he became nervous about some of the climbs/crossings and I had to assist him. Overall I really enjoyed this hike and can’t wait to return!

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Not a hike for beginners but I definitely wouldn’t rate it hard. More like moderate. All the falls are absolutely breath taking. If you’re using your phone for pictures I recommend bringing a portable charger because you will need it with the amount of pictures you’ll take! You could easily get away with wearing sneakers. Just some parts are a little slippery and there’s still patches of snow and ice. But overall 10/10 will 100% be going again soon!

I did this trail at the beginning of March before the leaves came out. It made the views better all the way along the trail.

Excellent trail. Varied terrain. Ill be back!

Great hike—challenging with a great sense of accomplishment at the end. Please be patient when going on narrow areas; if it’s narrow and some people are descending, don’t just start your ascent and then make it difficult for people to pass. Just be patient, because this trail can be dangerous.

Recommend going early, just as sun rises. Fewer people on the trail and the worst part about this is the number of people there that make it difficult to do the hike.

Nice scenic walk. Lots of people on nice weekend days...

Loads of fun with three young kids. Wading, running, skipping rocks, hiking, lots of inspiration for imaginative play... oh and hiking! Stream was chilly but the kids left soaked and muddy. Would love to come back and picnic when it’s hot.

Amazing hike. The rock scramble is tough but great fun.

Was a very nice hike. Definitely a challenge right now due to snow coverage that is melting. Trail is slippery so hiking boots with really good traction or metal spikes are suggested. Beautiful view once you hit the top!

It was a fantastic trail!! Paved which is nice and steep which is really what makes it be considered hard! It was a great workout and I wore my backpacking backpack just for extra weight but definitely only need some water and a camera for this one. No real “gear” needed.
