Was a challange for my crew but we made it to the top was so worth it!

Ummmmm... I had absolutely no clue where the heck it was. The map was super confusing and I was honestly just overall disappointed. I had a good feeling, but I just got lost for a while. Maybe I just didn’t see it, or I didn’t spend enough time looking. I know one thing for certain, though. Wherever it was, it definitely wasn’t obvious where it was. I did nothing but waste my time.

If you've got friends or family visiting you in Vermont, Mount Philo is the perfect way to spend a few hours. A very easy mile each way gets you some great views of Lake Champlain and the surrounding areas. Very crowded in the summer, try to hike this one around 5 or 6 pm to catch the setting sun over Lake Champlain.

Great trail with amazing views at the top. Kinda steep at points but doable if you’re in moderately health and shape. Plenty of kids and elderly were doing it

Nice family friendly hike. You can choose to stick to path or follow the paved road both up and down. Offers some beautiful views of Lake Champlain.

Moderate elevation. Good distance. Gr8 view.

Nice, short hike that became steep at times but fun with beautiful views of Schroon Lake.

enjoyed hiking here. we met so many people from different age groups. very nice view at the top and relaxing picnic spots. restroom area is also well maintained. in short worth the hike. and perfect for beginners!

Did the hike with a baby on my back. It was ok- the beginning views of the water are pretty along with beach at the end but trail isn’t marked very well so we went on a few different paths. One path was very steep slippery gravel - most of path is regular dirt with some roots and other that we wound up on was more of a running/ biking path.

We did this in mid-october in full foliage. Outstanding and highly recommend it. I could see moon in the daylight up top!

Perfect hike for beginners. Gives a challenge at the beginning, great view at the top and easy paved road on the way down. I would have preferred a wooded path the entire way but this hike was enjoyable. We passed many of all ages, 3 years to 70s. Some of the younger kids were complaining but our 8 year olds did great. The path was hard packed and steps were available in some areas.

We hike Mount Philo with our kids a few times a year and it is always a fun adventure!

This is nice trail, but I warn you not to try to follow the loop to the right. The trail is poorly marked and there are many intersecting trails making it impossible to continue the loop. I went back and forth on several trails trying to get back on the loop shown in the alltrails map. I finally gave up and turned back. Luckily the app allowed me to track all my various attempts and get back to where the trail split.

Great hike! Some areas were challenging but overall a fun heat pumping hike! The views from the summit were outstanding! Very dog friendly as well!

Quick and easy. I liked the walk through the field before getting to the forest. Not as good of a view as I had hoped for but still beautiful.

The view at the top is what gives this trail a 4 star. Otherwise a bit more like a stroll through the woods

Beautiful views of Schroon Lake from the top.

great views and an easy hike. picnic area at the top.

All around great trail. Near the summit may be somewhat challenging for young children in that quite steep and very rocky

I love this hike so much, a good medium in-between... great to do when you’re feeling like hiking but not necessarily feeling like climbing an entire mountain, yet the views up top are incredible. You can see all the way out to Champlain lake. This trail is also great towards the end of winter. TIP: if you want to get up to the views but don’t want to hike all that much, there’s an even shorter trail to get to the top. Coming from Stowe, before you reach the trailhead, there’s a road off to the left called Pinnacle road, drive all the way to the top and there’s a small parking lot. Cuts the hike in about half!

Nice, wide looping trails through an aromatic, shadey cedar forest. Can get mosquito-ey at dusk in mid-summer.

This isn't very far, and not much of an incline, but the places to stop by the pond are beautiful and peaceful. Very uneven trail so it makes you work a little.

Beautiful easy hike today with my 4 year old and 8 year old. The climb to the top was the only challenging part of this hike, but was relatively short and the views at the top were amazing.

Beautiful views from the top. I'm an infrequent day hiker. I wouldn't call a 1500 ft climb in 1.5 miles "easy".

If you're just interested in the view, park at the Stowe Meadow trail head and save yourself 500 feet in elevation gain.

Easy, short hike with beautiful views of 3 different Mountain Ranges. Be on the look out for the Fairy Town. My only complaint would be the road that leads up to the trail head is rough. Go slow if you value your car!

You can start this hike from the Pinnacle Meadows parking area and cut off 1/2 mile and 500 feet. This means you can get to a faux summit with sensational views in under an hour. How cool is that?
