Pretty busy trail. Easy and well marked.

Incredible waterfall. We took our 3 and 5 year old girls with us. We did this trail after doing the Outdoor Adventure trail for kids near the entrance to the park. Nothing technical. Climbed the stairs up to a Chimney Rock and Exclamation Point after this hike. This waterfall is definitely worth seeing.

First trail after knee surgery and a heart attack. I made it up to the Chimney Point.

Not as great as we were expecting. The trail is more of a short walk than a true hike. Very crowded and heavily trafficked.

Beautiful views, but lots of tourists. Easy walk to each site.

The Trail was very well marked with white blazes for the longer loop. The shorter trail some people mention in their reviews was blazed in red. Markers with distance placed every half mile to help track time and distance. I had 2 dogs in tow and we finished the 5 mile loop in just about 2 hours. The Trail is well traveled and even though I was out early, we passed several groups (more than 5, less than 10). The Trail offered great views of the lake with several stops along the water for the dogs to drink. I would certainly rate this as moderate because there is a lot of undulation. Overall a great hike that I’ll do again.

Short and sweet but very beautiful.

Very beautiful waterfall! We went to top of Chimney Rock in the elevator after checking it out and hiking to exclamation point we then we went down the stairs that is marked ...Hickory Nut Falls. (Instead of starting at the trailhead) After hiking to the falls we skipped walking back up those stairs and went straight which took us back to the parking lot. Much easier than those stairs! The hike to the falls is good for anyone, past the stairs. It was pretty crowded. The park cost $15 a person to get it. Worth it for the views and of course for this great waterfall!

Great local trail. Mostly shaded and love seeing the deer

The hike is easy to do and the view at the end is amazing! Love this trail.

Ran it Thursday, but Friday they taped it off closed for cleanup finally from TS Michael. I ran it anyway because I prefer to be challenged. Great scenic out and back

Loved it!! Took about an hour round trip including a lot of time spent at the four different overlooks. Amazing views of Linville Falls, Linville Gorge, and the chimneys. The trail is very easy and clear, would definitely do again!!! It’s actually 0.9 miles one way, so almost 2 miles total.

My neighborhood track. Lots of traffic.

Been eyeing this rock from Priest Lake every year I go camping with my family. Took 26 years of me living to finally go and do it and it was well worth it. Breathe taking views! We hiked up to the north side of Chimney Rock and the south side as well. Would recommend getting to the top of both sides so you can get the views from each.
During the summer, this hike would be easiest, but since we did it when there was a little snow in the higher elevations, it became a little harder with having to get over all the boulders with snow on them. I would definitely not recommend bringing young children on this hike if you are going to be going all the way up, as there are considerably large boulders to get over and also steep ridges to get to the top.
Overall this hike kicked mine and my dads (60 years old) butts, but would do it again.

This was a fantastic trail! We did the 5
Mike loop. It was wooded the whole time with beautiful views of the lake. We saw deer multiple times during our hike. This is close to home, so I plan to come back often!

Great hike. Amazing views. Bit of snow up top.

love it. paved. in a shade most of it. beautiful forest. its shared with bikes so be careful. easy, freesby golf, tiny lake with pier and fishing, cute playground. poor parking

Enjoyed the hike. Took the smaller kids and they made it just fine. We headed for the trail but didn’t realize it was inside the park so we got to experience the whole park as well. Fees to get in are a little higher than should be. But all in all a good time. The falls were nice but employee on duty at falls so couldn’t cross border to get in water. Was our first trip to Chimney Rock so was well worth the day. Lookouts were nice.

Short and sweet with several beautiful falls down gorge.

Park is currently closed and the trail is not accessible!

Easy of hike as it gets!

I did this trail on Labor Day, which the Park itself was super busy. This particular trail wasn’t busy at all. The hike was challenging but enjoyable. The waterfall never disappoints. Some areas are more congested than others but the trail is wide enough to pass people. The roughest portions of the trail is at the beginning so keep pushing through and it’s all down hill after that.

Great trip! Lots of beautiful scenery without being overly strenuous. Excellent for taking pics and for getting so exercise. My friend and I both have some injuries but were able to complete this hike without any problems. It's only an hour from my house, so I will definitely be doing it again!!

Beautiful hike on a pleasant September Sunday. The first 1/3 of the hike is considered easy with little elevation gain on a mostly wide and well-maintained trail. The 2nd 1/3 is a little steeper and you hike through various granite plateaus, but still easy to walk on. I would classify that section “moderate”. Make sure you follow the rock cairns carefully as it is easy to get lost on the trail! At the end of that 2nd 1/3, you will have a gorgeous view onto chimney rock and the valley you just climbed through. You can easily call it quits there and forgo the last strenuous and a little dangerous part of the hike as it is stunning right then and there. The last section gets a little tricky and is only for experienced hikers: you literally have to climb through a field of gigantic boulders and you have to make sure you don’t slip and fall through the cracks. I do not recommend bringing your dog up to that section! And don’t forget to bring your hiking poles! Once at the top, you get rewarded with even more beautiful views over the front and also the back valley. And if you are brave enough, you can even climb along the back edge of the rock and find the view over Priest Lake; however, we chickened out after about 100 feet as it got too steep and we didn’t want to risk falling off the cliff and having to be rescued….it’s not for weak nerves!
The length of the trail is closer to 12 miles overall per our tracking device. 4 hours up (including lots of breaks for pictures and some snacks) and 2.5 hours down.

Wonderful 5.1 mile hike! Yes, tree roots to navigate on 80% of the hike. Views of the lake much of the way... be aware that the last mile is a steep and challenging climb.

Started out as a simple down and back, see the Falls and climb back but there is so much more. While viewing the lower falls at 2 separate places which was great we saw people behind us at a much higher overlook. We climbed back to a midway point and began a .3 mile up to the top. Spectacular views from 2 different lookouts. You could see the bottom side of the falls as well as the downstream. Came back down and there is another midway point platform foe another great view. Kids were down at the bottom and apparently there is a lower parking lot that they are at ground level. This can be easy down and back but we did 2 miles overall and several stairs, up to the top view and the last hill to the parking lot was all we wanted especially after Hawksbill Mtn. This Falls surpassed all my expectations. Enjoy His presence.
