Lovely hike. We did what other reviewers suggested: white to blue to orange to red. The scramble up at the beginning of the blue portion was definitely a challenge (I’m in reasonably good shape for my 51 years) but fun. I’m glad we went UP for that scramble; going down would have been a bit much for me. Overall really nice way to spend 3-4 hours, with some majestic views. The trail blazes can be a bit difficult to locate, so be on the lookout for those.

The trail has clear marks and some interesting boulders. The level is relatively easy.

Too many people in the beginning. Awesome chicken of the woods mushrooms. Brightest and biggest we have ever seen.

I loved this trail. not crowded and off leash dogs aren't a problem.

Great for beginners and not too crowded yet enough people on the red trail to not worry about getting lost. Took me 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to the lake and just 1 hour back down. Bathrooms and ice cream vending machine at the trail head/visitors center a definate stop on the way back to your car. Next time will go slower to enjoy more of the scenery and take pictures along the route. All in all be ready for a great afternoon of cardio work on your way up.

nice trail, moderate. bring bug spray.

nice mix of easy and moderately difficult. will go again for sure

The views of at the top were very nice. There was one point with a rock scramble which was fun and slightly challenging. Although walking along the creek was enjoyable, I did not see any waterfalls. I would do this again if I only had a few hours (took me ~2 hours), otherwise I'd to extend it a bit longer and go to one of the lakes.

make sure to bring a map and stay on track. it can definitely get confusing at times. amazing views and wildlife everywhere. very peaceful and challenging at times.

The pyramid mountain trail system is really beautiful. The trails are well marked and neatly groomed, and there are varying levels of terrain for hikers of different ability. It's perfect for hiking and snowshoeing. That being said, please be aware that there are copperhead snakes present in the area. Obviously this is not the park's fault or responsibility, hikers are guests in the wildlife's home. We were so focused on keeping an eye out for foxes, bears, and deer that snakes didn't even come to mind and our puppy got bitten by one. We got him to the animal shelter for an anti-venom treatment ASAP, and he's going to be okay. I just wanted to make people aware of something I stupidly didn't think twice about.

So close to home and never disappoints. Done this 4 times in different directions and for only 2 miles it has a bit of everything. Great views, steep inclines and declines (if you choose that route) and rock scrambles.

Loved that it wasn’t crowded. Esp for A Saturday :) Serene afternoon day hike #twothumbsup☮️

We enjoyed it. Did with 2 children - 7 and 4 yrs old - and a small dog. The dog needed to be carried in a backpack for the Blue part of the trail and 4 yr old was exhausted by the end. Took us 4 hours. I recommend doing in reverse so you do the steep part up (white) in the beginning and go UP the rock scramble (blue), not down. Note when you switch to the orange trail from blue it's not well marked. We had to guess based on the map and go down a ways to see the marker.

Perfect outing with two adventurous, athletic kids. It was a long walk for the 8yo, but she didn’t get overtired until the very end. All the rock-scrambling and waterfalls kept her happily engaged. We did it clockwise and took out time, stopping to snack a few times and wander off trail a bit. It was about a 3.5 hour endeavor. Highly recommend!

Full Moon Hike with REI on the yellow/white/blue trail to Tripod Rock in downpour rain. As a beginner hiker there were moments of intensity but overall excellent terrain and vista. Would love to do it again if only to see the moon without an overcast sky and rain. :)

Great trail and lots of shade!

trail running

went to this place to trail run. the terrain is a bit tough for trail running, I couldn't get any momentum built up because of all the rocks, tree roots, and rock scrambling. definitely not for trail running if you want to run fast, but definitely a decent hike if you're in the area. wouldn't go out of my way for it though, the views are lame and there wasn't that much to see. the balancing rock was pretty cool to see

Trail was well marked and had some good hill climbs and decents. trail was clear of overgrowth and fallen trees, easy to navigate, especially with the AllTrails map. the peak was a little lame, no view that I saw, and I didn't see the ruins. decent veiw at the top of the power line section. bugs were horrendous, spider webs, gnats, mosquito, and biting flies, but it was mid July and recently rained so it's just that season. the water fall was pretty cool, would have liked to hang out at the water fall a bit longer but had to keep moving because of the bugs swarming my head

Very nice walk. Ripe blueberries at the top (in July), beautiful wide vistas and one cool rock face that has to be climbed (its easy though). The loop misses the "Cascade of slid," but only by a 100 feet or so, make a left at the Red-Orange junction and check it out before continuing on the red/orange (opposite direction).

My wife and I came in late around 1pm and took us a while to find a parking place.
The trail is a bit challenging and was planning 2-3 hours while it ended up with over 4. But we had lots of fun.

Follow the red, then orange, then blue, then white trail markers for this loop. Nice views at the top, but there were definitely some parts of the trail where it was so narrow or grown over that it was hard to find. If we weren’t tracking our path against the trail on the app, I’m not sure we would have been able to find it a couple times or know that we had taken a wrong turn. There was also some pretty steep rock scaling on the way down that our dog (ok and me!) had a slightly tough time with.

Lots of shade.

Its a nice trail. We started with red to orange which goes parallel to the river and no viewing points. By the end of red we gain elevation. It gets tricky on the hill top, the trails are marked but not evidently seen so make sure to search for trail markings. The blue stretch is the best it has around 4 viewing points a rocky and steep stretch which is fun!!

Fun hike , a little bit of everything

Well marked. Very nice trail.

This trail is great! Moderate is a good rating as you don’t really have too many strenuous spots but overall just very consistent rocky uphill/downhill terrain. There is a part where you can select to go the more difficult steep part, and I chose to go the easier alternate route because I had my dog with me who occasionally struggles with big rocks. You have plenty of great areas to rest with beautiful views!! I will definitely be doing this hike again.

Lots of rocks, running water, great viewpoints...I had a blast! I only regret forgetting my bug spray.

Amazing trail. Wit took 2 hours and 45 minutes to do on a very hot date. Wear hiking boots - a lot of climbing and a lot of rocks. Hiking boots will make a difference.

Beautiful and relaxing as far as hikes go. It can be very busy which is downside for me. I prefer to go here in spring and fall on weekdays to avoid the huge crowds. Expect to encounter groups of a dozen or more on weekends.

On another note - I have gotten VERY lost here off this trail. 7pm, sun setting, no water, no working phones, 3 people and 2 dehydrated dogs. We ended up clocking close to 16 miles by the time we got back. If we did not happen to run into the only person we saw on the trail for over 2 hours, I might still be out there. Please do yourself a favor and make sure your phone is charged, charged external charger and you bring 2 liters of water minimum and you bring a compass.

great hike
