We broke the trail and encountered 4 other parties coming up as we were going down so the trail should be decently worn in now. Traction devices might be helpful -- as would snowshoes in the last mile or so, however we did the whole trail with boots and gaiters, which kept our pants nice and dry.

The snow made the hike more challenging, but nice nonetheless.

Love this trail. Forest provides great shade in the summer. Not too crowded but you do need to watch out for bikes (and vice versa) as visibility isn’t great in some areas.

This hike will probably take longer than you think. It is quite steep. Views at the beginning are expansive, the middle section is a tough climb in the trees with few views, and the end section once you gain the ridge has views back towards Boulder and also east to the Indian Peaks. From the Bear Peak summit you can probably pick out your house if you live in Boulder, the view is that unobstructed.

Great views and very rewarding. Highly trafficked, and there was some shattered glass on the trail that we picked up to prevent injuries to pups on the trail. I also wouldn't rate this as hard, more of a moderate difficulty. The elevation gain is very gradual.

Hiked 10/29/2018 Castle Trail up to the Presidents Summer House. Beautiful views. Not too busy. Perfect weather and views. Easy to moderate. Great trail while acclimating to the altitude.

Steep uphill climb for the first half if you're coming form Morrison, but lots of switchbacks makes it easy. Once you're at the top, you'll get an awesome view of Denver and Red Rocks. We also saw tons of wildlife. Lots of options for castle and trail exploring, too. Really good place to take someone new to hiking or visiting the area because you can stay up there for hours or come down if they're not feelin' it. Get ice cream in Morrison after!

Hiked it today with our dog starting from the Applewood side. Street parking only so we parked a couple blocks down from the east trailhead. Good rocky incline that's not too difficult then everything flattens out on top of the mesa. Wide open trail up top, nice and easy hike.

Anyone else get a spooky, spiritual vibe on this trail? Very weird but beautiful. Maybe because it’s close to Halloween I don’t know but it was awesome!!

There are many poorly marked intersections. At one point we came to a dead end and had to turn around and backtrack to the closest fork and take the other path. We didn’t even end up making it to Bear Peak.

Well marked, well maintained trails. Some nice views and interesting ruins. A lot of side trails near the top, so you can make it a bit longer. Not too much elevation gain; kind of a mild trail. Not crowded this morning (Tuesday).

interesting and varied hike which takes you through all kinds of terrains. challenging but worth it for the views!

Left between 9:30-10am and made it to Sky Pond around 1pm. I was in trail running shoes and had to be careful to keep dry. I made it pretty dry to Sky Pond, but could not avoid the wetness on the way down. The ascent to Lake of Glass was challenging with all the ice, but we persevere! Jogged some of the way back to trailhead (25%) and it was mush from a lot of traffic at lower altitudes. Left parking lot at 3:30. Glorious day!

Not bad, good for a short hike and time in nature. Good for families and dogs. Pretty busy on a Saturday, by the time my group left at 11am the parking lot was packed and many people heading out to the trails. I liked this and would be a good hike for my small dog.

Got to the trailhead today and there were already about a dozen cars in the parking lot. The cleanest restrooms I’ve ever been in at a trailhead are here at Apex. This is a popular mountain biking place. I met several along the way. Overall an enjoyable run.

Awesome hike!

GO SEE THIS TRAIL AFTER A LIGHT SNOW. It’s Christmas card worthy.

Nice easy walk/run/bike trail

We went early in the AM and found parking. The trail wasn't rugged and we saw some deer.

Hiked while it was snowing and the enchanted Forest sure did live up to it's name! The incline wasn't too bad at all. Cant wait to go back on a sunny day.

Amazing!! Good challenge but certainly not impossible. Tied in with lake hiyaya and made a nice 12 mile route. Really windy at sky pond.

Hiked 10/4. Mesa trail to fern. Strenuous constant uphill the last mile. Fun scramble at the top!

Nice steep incline to start and great views! Not crazy packed and met nice people along the way! I’ll be back because it’s only 27minutes from where I live in Denver!

Great trail! It’s very long and good for a full day of hiking. Definitely would rate moderate

Easy hike cool that it’s close to red rocks can hear a little bit of music if something is going on there

Very Nice trail! Great inclines, beautiful scenery (not enchanting though), LOTS of bikers so watch out (they're all super nice & polite though). Loads of parking here & very clean restrooms. you have to hike through the "apex" trail to get to the "enchanted forest" trail just FYI.
