on Roaring Run

mountain biking

decent trail, very slight incline going out until roughly 3 1/2 miles out, then a bit of a hill climb. but I see old people doing it enough, so it's not exactly a leg burner. stick to the left at the top of the hill and you'll find a little waterfall tucked away behind the tree line, there's no signs indicating it, just have to use your brain for half a second.
Also the marked map on this app is inaccurate, it's merging the rock furnace trail and roaring run. Just stay straight when you get to the little bridge, that continues roaring run, not the left hand turn this app is telling you take (that is rock furnace trail).

Holy moly - what a hard trail - so fun though! Great hike into the shelter area, camp overnight, and hike back out the next morning. THERE IS NO DRINKING WATER AVAILABLE AT SHELTERS! There is a nice stream very close by though, lots of water available just make sure you bring tablets or a filter and you’ll be good to go :)

Not really Baughman, it stops short of the Baughman overlook and Baughman rocks. The actual trail continues about another mile, crosses the road (where it meets up with a junction of the Sugarloaf Trail) then heads back down to Ohiopyle.

Well marked trail with lots in a short hike. Waterfall, river, and great rock formations and springs.

We hiked on Tues., Oct. 9th, 10:30a.m. Great trail, but not easy. Hiked Cedar Falls to Rose Lake, to Old Man’s Cave, then Whispering Falls and finished at the entrance to Cedar. 7 mile loop total, and the signs stating the distances between aren’t accurate. Took longer than expected, but there are a lot of roots to navigate your footing on so you don’t twist an ankle. Some muddy and washed out narrow trail spots, and some rock scrambling, but if you take your time and be careful, you’re good. We took our pup and she was able to handle it, but it may be too much for an older/arthritic dog. Beautiful and peaceful for almost the whole hike. Old Man’s Cave and Cedar Falls can be quite busy at times since they are short hikes in from the parking lots.

Started at Kentuck Campground (very close by). Trail was relatively muddy a d slick but well marked. The sections which are distant from the river are unremarkable. The portion along the river and Cucumber Falls make the trek worthwhile. I did the entire trail and cut through town, across the river on the Graet Allegheny Passage trail and got back on the trail to return to my campsite. That worked well but last mile was a lungbuster.

As other have mentioned, the distance is more like 12 than 10. The south loop from Old Man’s Cave to Cedar Falls was the most scenic and only one small section would I classify as “hard” — otherwise the trail is easy to moderate throughout. Most of the trail is a wide gravel trail with easy ups and downs.

Came to hocking hills for a little get away with my hubby. We loved this cave, very beautiful.

Beautiful hike, would definitely come back.

Great views, very child friendly. The only con was that people were smoking cigarettes throughout the trail. I thought Ohio was a “smoke-free” state, judging by the visitors here it’s not. Plus they should set up more recycling bins; the trash was overloaded with plastic.

The gorge trail was amazing. It was like walking through the movie set for Lord of the Rings!

Absolutely loved the trails, the scenery was out standing and you can hike from one trail to the other or drive to a different start point to have shorter hikes to the attractions. will definitely be back.

9.9 miles, not true. I did it today and stayed on the trails, and it came to 12 miles on this app, 12.43 miles on my Samsung Health app which is much more true as I have accurately measured the apps. Love the beauty of this park as any other in Ohio is unmatched. It hasn't rained consistently in a week, thus the waterfalls were dripping and the river was dry in many spots.

Great view

We loved this hike! beautiful woods, rock formations and stream. having 2 little ones backpacked on us made it a little challenging but the loop to Cascades & flat Rock then back to parking lot was about 1.5 miles so definitely doable with the kids. We spent the whole day at the Cascades. there were great shallow pools for our 2 year old to splash in for hours!

This map is actually of Baughman then when you cross the street connects to sugarloaf trail. You needed to watch for an almost uturn about 1/4 after you cross.

Great place. Little packed but what do you expect for Labor Day weekend and how beautiful this place is. Did a little over 7 miles. Old man cave and then cedar falls. Great time and a awesome hike.

I was the 3rd car in the lot this morning. By the time I finished, the police were ticketing all the people who parked off the road. The hike was phenomenal!

Old Man's Cave to Cedar Falls through the long tunnel, then out to Ash Cave and return on the Gorge Overlook. Well worth the drive!

I just did this trail yesterday and it was definitely a challenge! Felt like a bada** mountain hiker. And the overlook at around 2.2 miles in was sooo worth it! Stopped there on the way back for a few mins to rest & recharge before finishing the last leg. Met some cool people along the way and made for a fun day trip at Ohiopyle.

Easy hike with beautiful scenery. On a hot day, wading in the water at Ash Cave is a beautiful thing.

Started at Ash Cave and hiked to Old Man Cave via the ridge line trails. Returned to Ash Cave via the Buckeye Trial (Blue). It is great to see the caves, but those sections are very crowded as others have noted. I would not rate this trial as moderate vs difficult. But for Ohio this is very scenic and diverse hike.

Great place to hike! very popular! the ice cream trunk that was there was amazing! I highly recommend going to the rock house trail as well. it is beautiful! also we went to both around 5:30 pm.. not as many people at that time compared to around 1pm.

Unless you are over 60 and plan to walk, this is NOT the trail for you. A beautiful location and very flat, but a SERIOUS anti-bike and anti-dog vibe. Multiple signs about potentially banning the trail from dogs, and pulling the port-a-potties because people aren't picking up after their dogs. I get that people should clean-up after their dogs, but there are no garbage cans available for the waste or picnic garbage. Its a shame that such potential is being squandered.

Great walk, and fun for kids. cool little waterfall and wadding area.

Not a bad hike but some parts are blocked or rerouted because they are building a new visitors center. Very popular area.

Great trail for almost anyone to use - be careful going in the winter, as the steps and the trail itself completely ice over.

Not sure where people are finding the views in the pictures for this trail, because we certainly didn’t see them. It’s not a bad hike, pretty easy going. There’s some cool boulders you can scramble up off the sides of the path in some areas. I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to do this trail though.

Great hike. Started around 730 and the place was EMPTY. By the time I left it was packed. Glad I got to experience this gorgeous park. Still can’t believe it’s located in Ohio!
