AllTrails is proud to be the walking guides partner for an exciting arts project in the Surrey Hills. During Summer 2016 a number of striking looking sculptures popped up along the Greensand Way. These distinct pieces of art are part of the Inspiring Views project delivered by Surrey Hills Arts. Funded through the Mittal Foundation, this project has worked with landowners to open up hidden views along the Greensand Way, improve access and commission artists to interpret the views through art, poetry and sound. The Inspiring Views project commissioned five sculptors and designers to create sculptural benches at viewpoints along the Greensand Way at Gibbet Hill, Reynards Hill, Holmbury Hill, Winterfold and Hascombe Hill. Four walking guides have been published to lead walkers to the sculptural benches and to help reveal more about each Inspiring View. By following the maps provided here, you will easily find the benches, read about the sculptor’s perspective of the view and their inspiration behind the design. Great walk, great views and clear paths. A tiny bit overgrown in maybe two places - but really nothing that a step to the right or left doesn’t deal with. A couple of uphills which get your heart going - but again - nothing too arduous. I highly recommend it.

Very easy to follow. Particularly like stopping at Holmbury St Mary cricket club. Very pleasant hike through a lovely part of Surrey Hills

Makes a nice easy stroll with some interesting artifacts and monuments to check out along the way. Watch out for the stinging nettles if you move off the main road at all.

Great trail, lovely views and great for off the lead dog walking. Nice and quiet on a Sunday afternoon.

The Hurtwood is lovely but the trail itself seemed to choose the most obscure narrow paths which didn’t make for especially pleasant walking. Many of the paths were so overgrown in July that we could have done with a scythe. Especially for the brambles. Even our Staffie was unimpressed. The loop round to the golf course didn’t add much - I would have preferred more time in the forest. We will come here again to wander in the woods and perhaps reattempt the trail at a different time of year.

Great varied and hilly route. Amazing views over the Surrey Hills.

Great walk with fab views. We managed to eat at the Golf Club which was a pleasant interlude. The last waypoint is tricky but just keep going uphill back to the Greensand Ridge. Great app too.

Tough climb to start but very enjoyable and rewarded with great views. Didn’t see any other people on a Friday around 6 which was great, and very little road noise. Saw pheasant, deer and even a few ducks all up the hill. Nice little pub at the end too.

nice trail, but this app does not provide directions

The route to Alderbrook view and Coleman’s farm is actually 200m north of what is marked on the maps.

Nice walk. Some of the slopes are quite steep so take decent footwear

We added a couple of miles to this walk as we started and finished in Rowly so joined the walk at Point 7. We loved this walk and so did our springer spaniel! We thought that the walk up towards Carpark 5 was tougher than Pitch Hill, even though the the paths had been cleared. The whole route was clearly written and easy to follow with the exception of the route down to the road by The Windmill Pub - there are so many bike paths! Not a problem though as you just head downhill! Will definitely do this walk again.

You are rewarded with beautiful views all the way around! Really excellent easy going walk if you have a spare 1 1/2 hours and fancy a nice drink at the end (or start!) Waymarker out the ground and GPS doesnt work right at the start, first fork. We went left up steep hill and completely bypassed first horseshoe so I'm assuming you want to go right :)

Myself and grandson did this walk last weekend enjoyed it a lot including the hike to the top of pitch hill and the last uphill path to the car park just love this app lots of choice good directions and gps for reassurance

We loved this walk - and so did our very lively dog! Definitely be doing it again. Agree about the last stretch being long but it was a nice steady climb.

We loved this walk. Perfectly safe for a dog who likes to go ahead exploring! One section has loads of trees being cut down unfortunately because of a disease. Definitely will do it again.

Really nice walk, not overly strenuous except one climb up a road track.

Very steep in places and uneven underfoot. Apart from that very enjoyable.

Lovely walk, even in biblical February rain so couldn't see a thing! Chose it because under trees. Will definitely do again on a hot day for the same reason. Really enjoyed it. And the church is beautiful. Tied the dogs up outside for 5 minutes.
