I really enjoy visiting here

Great moderate trail took the Cub Scout troop and they loved it.

I love this trail and so do my dogs. It is my go to Subday walk.

Very cool trail! Not a very big area, but full of features. Definitely will revisit again.

nice trail. Would rate it as moderate myself. I'm overweight and not in the best of shape and had very little difficulty. There were some sections that offer a little bit of a challenge though. Overall I really enjoyed my time on the trail.

There actually IS a porta-potty at the left-hand side of the trail head loop. This is a beautiful place for a run! The environment is consistently changing, which is a great distraction! There were a couple times when we split off onto a separate side loop by accident, but they were lovely diversions and we traced back when we re-checked the map. We will absolutely be back!

it is a great place to hike with varied habitats. a large shallow lake, wetlands, forests and fields lots of wildlife

Short, but nice trail (approx 3 miles total). I think it is more of a moderate than hard trail. Path follows a scenic river with some great rock wall formations. Some elevation and climbing, but manageable. A couple narrow spots that would prohibit small kids. Highlights are honeycomb rock and devils backbone.

First hike! Over estimated my ability to get through the dunes with boots on, but I got through it! The lake looked really pretty!

We set out to do the perimeter 5 mile challenge hike but we ended up doing trails 1, 2, 3, 4, 8 and 10 and lots of back tracking due to trails being poorly marked This really needs to be addressed. Trail 3 was the most enjoyable and fun with the rock climbing, ravines, etc. I also really enjoyed Gypsy Gulch, suspension bridge and covered bridge. Everything was was just ok. We covered almost 7 miles and it was all pretty easy with only a couple strenuous areas. I’m glad we did it and checked it off the list, it’s worth seeing once but wouldn’t go back and do it again.

Took my dog out there this summer. He's a small dog and he did just fine - he really enjoyed playing in the river when we got down around Devil's Backbone. It's beautiful and quiet. Moderately trafficked.

I loved this hike! Beautiful, interesting woods along a swamp with lots of wildflowers and hills A few steep, sandy dune climbs, but altogether not too bad. Wonderful stop at the Lake Michigan beach about half way through the hike.

These are mostly easy with 2 moderate hikes, very enjoyable. Creek is nearby so definitely will need bug spray to fend off the bugs.

I grew up about 10 miles away and I have never been until today! It was awesome! Signs are a little confusing and almost nonexistent in some areas. At one point, we were going to turn around when we came to a dam thinking that were weren’t going to be able to make it over, but once you climb over there is even terrain!! Just keep going!☺️ There are some trails that are closed due to damage (Trail 7 and Cascade Falls) but we were able to go around the broken stairs and reach Sugar Creek. Trail 7 and 8 are very rugged but I would rather climb rocks than stairs! I can’t wait to go back when it’s not so muggy!!!!

Great hike with my 3 daughters ages 13, 11 and 7. They all did great and it was challenging in areas but they handled it. it took an hour and a half round trip but we could've walked longer. Bugs weren't too bad. beautiful scenery with a creek and many forms of wildlife.

beautiful scenery and a lot to explore and see. I'd rate this as more moderate but there a quite a few stairs and inclines. Paths are marked and clear.

The Shades has the best trails in the state. Prepare to walk in creekbeds and take extra shoes and socks.

Beautiful, large variety of difficulty.

Many hiking trails offering great views and beauty all around. The canyons are so much fun to climb in for all ages.

Bring bug spray! What a cool hike. Several different ecosystems, a pretty tough sandy incline, lots of wildlife, and plenty of isolated beach. My first hike in Indiana and I can’t wait to go back!

Really liked this trail! It wasn’t super hard, but be prepared for a lot of sand.

Great trail! Enjoyed the beautiful views at the tops of the dunes!

We really enjoyed the hike. We thought the first steep hill was one of the first dunes. Lol it was not. It was challenging but we conquered those 3 Dunes. We came back the next day and did trail 9. Lots of bugs and beautiful scenery on trail 9.

The trails are challenging, as there are a lot of staircases and long sections of some of the trails are stream beds, but I LOVE this park! It’s a very fun hike! The campground isn’t huge, so even though it was full, I never felt crowded or as if I couldn’t enjoy the peace of the forests. The scenery is wonderful and well worth the soggy shoes

This is a nice trail out to the beach through woods and the bog. Insect repellant is prob a must...I mean it is a bog after all. I didn't have a problem with bugs with repellant on. The first mile or so is shaded with packed sand, providing a stable walking surface, and also a raised boardwalk through the bog. As you make your way toward the beach, the hills get steeper and the sand gets increasingly loose, making it a challenging hike. The views are well worth the dune hike, and I'd prefer to hike here to this beach over going to the crowded beach anyday. Great trail.

This is one of my favorite trails in the area! If you go in the summer time, you can eat some of the blackberries!

Pretty fun challenge! Short ascent up each one, but the incline was what got me. The last one has a wooden staircase on either side, which is the steepest of the three.

A wonderful trail with one huge 90 degree sand dune well that how it felt anyway!

A wonderful workout with one giant sand dune with an 90 degree angle or at least it feels that way.
