Beautiful hike, with great views. The trail was a pretty snowy/muddy at parts, but still hikeable. I was recommended this hike by a volunteer at Galena visitors center and it did not disappoint.

This is a nice hike along a pretty river. The river is very full this time of year, but not over it's banks. Walking the river on this side of the highway does indeed make you appreciate the lack of houses on the other side. There are Aspen's growing along the river for most of the trails length. I'm sure it's very pretty in the fall. Interesting fallen log bridge at the end of the trail. Not much past that, but fun to climb the natural bridge.

Did an approx 7 mile run from white creek trail to dry pond and there was very little if any ice/mud on the way. The pond was full of loud frogs that made for an awesome halfway point to relax to listen to them.

fun hike wonderful views and not too steep an incline and pretty easy trail. slushy snow at the top that got our feet wet. thicker socks and better boots would have solve that though.views well worth the hike

Still some snow pack up top but pretty clear

Is this a hike? No. Is it a beautiful walking trail through the backyards of Alpine mansions with an awesome view of the mountains? Yes. Good for dogs, not too much snow considering the trails at higher elevations are covered right now. Really beautiful suburban walk.

Nice hike!
Few runners and bikes but not overly packed with people.
Some snow and mud. Shoe chains helped in the few inches of snow on the ground.

Love the sound of the creek. After this last snowfall; there is about 2" at the bottom and 4" at the top. The creek running over the road with no bridge is fairly wide and didn't want to take the chance of wet paws.

Great trail!

This is the perfect trail for Snow Shoeing! Other trails that I've been on have been difficult to tell where the trail is unless there are tracks already, and then - can you really trust them? This trail is very wide (snowmobile's use a large segment of it) and is very clearly defined by TRT signs along the way. The first .6 mile trail is a hiking trail, but once you get past that, it's a piece of cake.

Hiked this on Saturday, 2/10, it was muddy and icy in several areas. Did not hike down the back side as many said it was very icy. Great hike, beautiful scenery. Lots of dogs and bikers too!

Beautiful hike and perfect weather. Some ice going downhill as well as some mud but an overall great hike.

Hike was beautiful, icy on the far side but very manageable. The trail was pretty busy but everyone was very nice! Great views! At a steady pace can be done in less than 3 hours. We will do this hike again soon!

Nice easy hike. It was a bit muddy in places but that's part of the experience of hiking. Can wait to come back in the summer and ride it on the bike.

Snowed over right now! Can’t hike it unless you have snow shoes!

Beautiful hike! You can cut through to take a quick peek of the monkey rock and the beautiful 270 degree view of the lake. Shortcut is a bit steep but well worth it.

We hiked this trail yesterday and other than it being a bit muddy on some parts of the trail it was a great hike! Our dogs had a blast and every other person/dog owner we passed was so friendly. (As were the dogs). There’s a few parts where you will be hiking at a slight incline but other than that it’s a pretty easy hike!

Very nice moderate trail. Steep enough to get the blood pumping but not so bad as needing to stop and catch my breath. Not sure about where it says the trail starts, but this time of year, the gate is closed so you'll have to park on Timberline or go further up to the parking lot. Neat pond at the top, not much water, but being right at the top of the ridge is interesting.

Great little trail around spooner lake. Easy hike, may be muddy in certain areas at times. Only downside is some dog poop or trash left by inconsiderate visitors.

Good place to get up in some trees quick if your in Reno. However it’s nothing special.

Great easy trail for young kids. both shaded and non. Restrooms by the parkinglot (there is a day fee) with easy parking. little lake was beautiful and very peaceful. lots of birds, open grass and great wooded area. we only saw one other group there around 10am on a Sunday. Great for photos. Will do it again.

Always a great trail. Be careful if you are going all the way to the Mt Rose Wilderness, as the last creek crossing is very icy.

Late but we did this hike Thanksgiving Day and it was such a beautiful escape for the morning. My Pup loves to see snow so having some patches up at the top of the hike was perfect for him!

Love trail and views of Lake Tahoe.
Didn’t like the three dog owners that didn’t have their dog on leases.

Gets your heart pumping. Took us one hour to do the 2.4 miles one way up. The way down took approx 35 min. There is a $1 fee for hikers paid via the honor system. Saw a little more doggie doo that I’d expect as Tahoe trails are usually very clean. Trash can at the end was overflowing. Overall a nice hike. I’d do it again.

Great place to take the little ones and introduce them to snowshoeing. Easy terrain and simple to follow.
