This is a really nice hike. Good length for a quick get away not too far from Denver. Views were beautiful but nothing that will take your breath away. Would be a great trail running trail if you can find a time when there aren’t many people around.

Great hike in March, icy trails. Came across bears by the river.

Awesome hike. Still icey but fun.

Hiked today 3/20. The trail from the rock steps up was very icy and micro spikes were very helpful. I ran into many people who turned back because of the ice. It’s a great trail and the arch is really nice with great views.
Difficult but definitely worth it.

Hiked in early March, good amount of ice on trails, i had no spikes or poles but easy to avoid if you go from rock to rock, as there are a lot of rocks. Awesome views of the east

Fun trail! Nice views looking east through the Gulch. I took the short trail from the Hotel Ruins to the Continental Divide Viewing area. Short hike between those two points. There was a nice, steady incline all the way up.

This was a really fun hike. There were a few icy patches, but overall it was clear. It was challenging because it climbs a lot over low mileage. Great views and the arch is amazing.

Snow packed trail. Yak Trax and hiking poles came in handy as the climb became more difficult near the falls. A spectacular hike.

What a great little hike! Got to the trailhead about 8am on a Sunday and saw no one on the trail, must have been lucky!

No trax needed, couple of icy spots no mud frozen falls beautiful trail low traffic start at 9 am. First trail sign takes to cliff loop come back other way

Very easy. Great for small dogs that get tired easily. Still a lot of snow and lake is frozen with a lot of ice fishing.

Hiked on 3/14. One of the most beautiful hikes I have ever done! The views are well worth the steepness battle after Loch Lake. Did it only using microspikes, and like someone before me I did not use the strap on the icy steep part, but instead crawled with my hands around the left side of the boulder that's there. Wind is pretty brutal at all of the lakes and the steepness after Loch is no joke, but well worth the efforts! Would highly recommend!

An absolutely beautiful trail. We took it up to the Continental Divide Outlook. The views are amazing. There were a few icy patches but nothing to difficult to get through in normal hiking shoes.

Hiked to the top with my 6 year old daughter.and she loved it. The trail was part ice/snow/mud but easily navigable. We can't seem to drive by without stopping.

The trail is still somewhat icy at the moment. But if you have your spikes, this is a fun, fairly quick hike that will get your heart rate up and reward you with a gorgeous view from the arch at the top.

Hiked this yesterday with my daughter. It was awesome! Some tough climbs at the end with ice and snow pack but well worth it. Micro spikes are a must. A frozen Glass lake and ice fall made for some great pictures.

Wow! The description of this trail is on point, as well as everyone's reviews. We had hiked Emerald Lake the day before and wanted something more challenging... we got it! We wore microspikes and used trekking poles the whole way up. We were hit by a snow storm about halfway to Sky Pond and pushed through. The most difficult part is right before you hit the pond. The trail is barely hiked and therefore you sink pretty deep at such a steep incline. The part where the strap is is extremely icy and therefore I "Spidermaned" my way up the left side of the boulder instead of the right (not using the strap). The pond was gorgeous and frozen solid. *caution** heard a bear as we began our decent down the steep incline. You should bring : snow shoes, microspiked, snow pants, and trekking poles at the very least. *** Also, I dropped our little fox somewhere around Loch Lake, when the snow melts and if he is seen please feel free to contact me via Facebook, he's a precious part of our lives ;(***

Love this trail! Fairly easy hike with a great view. We always take visitors from out of state here. They’re always happy with the views!!

It’s a nice trail and there weren’t too many people when we went (March 15th around lunch). The lake itself was the prettiest view that we saw and there isn’t really a hike to the lake (it’s right next to the parking lot). We did hike about 3 miles and it’s pretty, but I hate to even call it “hiking” compared to other hikes in Colorado. It’s just a nice outdoor walk for an hour or two.

Pretty easy hike! Beautiful walk around the lake and the trail takes you up the mountain.

Pretty and easy trail with a beautiful waterfall and view.

Beautiful view! A decent climb. DEFINITELY need to have your spikes with you for some parts. Very icy near the beginning of the Arch trail and just before you get to the Royal Arch. If you have walking sticks or gloves for holding onto rocks etc then I recommend that also. I was very scared of going down but I have never walked on an icy trail/never ice-skated or been skiing so it was a whole new experience for me. Other people were running up and down there - making sure to step on the rocks and dry parts. I’m so glad I did it though.

Pretty easy, but great view!

Spikes needed once you hit the spur to the arch.

Great views! Definitely recommend bringing spikes for some areas.

Hiked 3/12. Only used microspikes for the entire hike. Someone has bolted a strap by the only sketchy part of the hike. Slid most of the way down on my coat. Definitely recommend if you are in shape for it. If you’re questioning it at the lock its best to not go up. It only gets steeper from there. If you take snowshoes make sure to also bring spikes for the sheet of ice you have to climb before glass lake

Awesome views! Be prepared for ice at this time and a steep climb. Very rewarding hike!!

Royal arches was absolutely stunning. Highly recommend to anyone although be warned it is icy in some spots as of (3/11). Definitely work the trek!

Super dog friendly and beautiful trail. Incline is steady in parts and more severe in others but overall it’s not that difficult. Rewards are the view at brothers lookout.

3/10/2018 Saturday: The weather has been in the mid-60s this week, and the high was 53 today, so it was a beautiful day for this hike. Despite that, there was a decent amount of ice on this trail and I would HIGHLY recommend microspikes. I only used them on certain portions of the trail, but they were crucial, particularly in the area right below the arch. Everyone who I encountered that day fell and slipped on the ice.

This hike is in Chatauqua Park and there is a large parking lot. There is a map of the area at the trailhead and a ranger station. Even in the off season, I passed about 15 people on this hike and I started at 5pm, so I imagine it is much more heavily used in the spring and summer.
