We hiked in the fall with dogs. Not many people there, beautiful scenery. Easiest moderately rated trail I have done, loved it. Saw several deer.

Gorgeous! A few of the downhills were crazy steep and icy (first snowfall of the year was yesterday), but we went slow. Definitely need to bring hiking poles next time.

Did this trail last year. Very scenic. Had to Wade through the water to get back due to fallen trees.

We took the gorge trail out and back, if you haven’t seen this trail definitely do it. There is a good set of stairs to climb and my knee was hurting but it was worth it. The fall was gorgeous and the bridge crossings were nice. You also should see the cowshed falls as well, it’s on the way.

Waterfall after waterfall after waterfall! The gorge trail delivers endless beauty. Our dog loved it too. Took the rim trail back which gave great sunset light through the trees. Overall great walk in in the park lots of majesty for minimal to moderate effort.

fabulous.

Well marked out and well traveled/ beaten path. Close to roads at times. Plenty of wild life around.

Whirlpool is amazing!

Not a well marked trail. and close to houses and a couple farms. Although there is a abundance of wildlife to be seen.

Great trail! I wouldn’t classify it as moderate closer to upper easy than moderate. However it was very beautiful the entire time! We started with the Rim Trail which merged into the Bear TrIl, then loops around the Lake and got back into the Gorge Trail. Took about 1 hour and 35 minutes or so. We had our dogs with us a long the way. There weren’t too many opportunities to let them off leash because of the occasional drops from the river or service roads but they still enjoyed their time.

Start at Niagara Glen. Take the Boulder Trail and then River Trail to Whirlpool Trail. These three are a must see! Whirlpool Trail isn't long but is quite demanding. You will be climbing on the rocks and through crevices, so wear proper shoes. Be prepared to spend a few hours hiking (2-3). Absolutely worth all the sweat. ☺️

A very nice trail! Well maintained and easy to tell where the trail is as it is marked consistently with green markers to lead you back to the entrance where you started.
Watch out for the occasional horse poop though!
I was also able to spot 6 Deer in the woods. Thankfully, no bear at all.
Great change in terrain and a good opportunity for trail runners. Overall, very enjoyable trail with decent views.

(P. S.) The waterfall really doesn’t exist.

WOW! the steps for buttermilk Falls up are pretty strenuous but definitely worth it. The whole gorge is made up of waterfall after waterfall cascades. I would say moderate/easy. I am four months pregnant and we were able to do the hike. We went a little slower than normal with some stops but it was absolutely do able. I did get stung by a yellow jacket so if you or someone your hiking with is allergic bring an epi pen.

A lovely hike that ended up being a little over 5 miles. Nicely maintained trails. A bit crowded in the beginning but it thins out eventually. The plethora of stairs provided a nice challenge.

I find this a Beautiful spot to visit as it's relatively close. The trails past the falls get pretty muddy pretty fast. I recommend good hiking boots and big spray.

Great waterfalls , not hard, very walkable

Great hiking trail but there is a Firearms range nearby so please, don't bring your dog... had to cut short my outing short because my dog was terrorized.

First time hiking in Mendon Ponds Park, there is a variety of trails to choose from. Choose the East Esker Trail due to being a moderate trail that is dog friendly with hilly terrain. The trail was better than expected, a great workout! Did not see any waterfall, but there was a swamp & a pond. Definitely coming back in the fall time for the foliage!

The only downside was the horse poop in the middle of the trail, but the dog enjoyed smelling it!

Meh. The formations are a neat sight. The trail itself in my opinion is not too exciting. It’s a pretty short hike. There are a few good lookout spots but other than that they are blocked by trees. Some spots are narrow and close to the edge so use caution. The beach/parking lot was crowded.

really cool loop and some great views. the walk along the water was gorgeous and our dog loved swimming in the small waves.

Absolutely beautiful views!

Here for the Cayuga 50 with lots of great people. Beautiful area.

Peaceful, beautiful and inspiring!!!

Love it here. Great hiking for dogs, even a separate swimming section for them in the large falls swimming area. Busy but not so crazy busy that it’s unenjoyable. Apparently you are not supposed to swim in any other area than the large designated area but we did and so were a lot of other people. It was super fun. Just be aware that you can be fined for it as we were told by a policewoman on the way out.

Good workout for beginners but no waterfall

Awesome little hike!!! My brother and his girfriend and my wife and I along with my 4 year old daughter hiked this trail with relative ease! Some challenging terrain and many bridges! We were also fortunate enough to see a beaver (I think), a deer, snakes and other woodland creatures. Highly recommend! They also have a few bathrooms for the little ones who forget to go before you leave!

We liked this hike just fine. It does have several points where you are just walking along a road or through parking lots, which isn’t ideal when looking for a good nature experience. There’s lots of water features and a lot of fun places for kids. The biggest drawback is probably the number of other people on the same hike and in the same area.
