Nice little Sunday hike. View at the top is incredible. Justin dropped his phone in a crevice but I saved the day with a long stick. Superb hike for when you want to sweat a little but not die completely.

Completed 1/18/19. Micro spikes were a necessity, put them on at Chautauqua and never took them off. Snowpack was deep at points, but trail was 99% manageable, and you could see where you were going. Few people if any were on the trail. Enjoy!

Did this hike on 1/11/19 after 6 inches of fresh snow (and still snowing) that morning. It was beautiful in the trees with all the snow. Can’t comment on the views because it was cloudy and snowing hard. Incline was tough with all the fresh snow, would recommend spikes!!

Did this hike on 1/15/2019 in the late afternoon. Still completely snow covered from 1/11 snowfall. We did not have spikes/yaktrax and still completed this hike with our dog with relative ease. Rather slick on the packed snow in places but overall made it up okay. Difficulty is moderate I would say especially with the packed snow. At the top there is rock scrambles to get to the views but it was worth it. Beautiful short hike with the snow cover. Good views at the top after the rock scramble.

One of my favorite trails, it seems it is less crowded than some of the others in this area. Hiked 1/13, went up Gregory Canyon and down via Saddle Rock. The top was mostly hard packed snow and the bottom a little icy, I wore my microspikes the whole time and was glad I had them. Took me about 4 hours round trip. Would highly recommend!

My first real “hike” in Colorado. At the start of the trail I saw so much dog poop. I am glad it wasn’t all over the trail. Once you head up in elevation the pine trees start appearing. So scenic. The waterfall was frozen but I bet in the spring it’s stunning. I’ll be back.

Just hiked the Staunton Ranch trail toward Elk Falls past Sunday afternoon. Clear, well marked trail. Great views.

Pretty and very quiet hike after getting off the Staunton ranch portion of the trail. Didn’t need spikes, trail was quite easy and marked clearly. Some nice views and beautiful trees throughout. The best views, in my opinion, were on the return route on Scout line trail. Saw several good sized bucks on SR, about half a mile from the trailhead. Did 11 miles total in 4 hrs + a few minutes. Route I took out was trailhead to SR - BE - CR - EF then on the return route: EF - CR - MP - SL (most scenic view portion) - SR to trailhead. Not too bad of a hike.

This was a fantastic hike. Excellent trail, beautiful scenery and not too difficult. It could be hot in the summer but it would be perfect any other time. We followed the SR to BE up to the lake and took Marmot Passage (MP) out and it was almost exactly 10 miles. The MP part had the best views and connected back to SR. One of our favorite new hikes.

For a city-style hike it was good exercise but nothing especially interesting.

Did the whole loop on a Sunday morning 12/30. Perfect weather and got there early at 10am, finished just after noon. Parking lot filled up quickly by the time I finished. Good hike with varying hills throughout to make the hike interesting; not just straight up then down. Some neat views of Denver. Will definitely be back in the spring!

Excellent views; great introduction to Fort Collins.

Good hike to miss some of the crowds at Staunton. After fighting the traffic on Staunton Ranch for a couple of miles you turn on to Scout Line Trail. Scout Line and Marmot stay fairly quiet and no bikes allowed on much of the trail. Some very nice views along the way to the lake. The lake/pond is a great place to stop for lunch. It is frozen solid at this time. Only a few snowy spots at this time. No need for extra traction. Very quiet on Christmas Eve.

This was our first time to hike Horsetooth and it was beautiful. I took my 7 and 10 year old and we all made it to the top with no issues. There are a few slick spots along the way but we easily navigated around them. Views from the top are beautiful and I’ll be back for sure

Nice trail and not busy at all this time of year. Completed yesterday and the views at the top are well worth the short hike up. Icy in some areas but you don't really need spikes if you just tread carefully around the icy areas. I took them just in case but never used them.

Beautiful morning with a nice amount of snow and a little ice. Bring your spikes.

Great hike for sure. It is very strenuous especially if you go clockwise up Fern trail. Lots of elevation gain fast. Didn't need spikes for most of trail up until about the last 800 ft. in gain. Also needed them going back down for most of the trail. Great views in multiple spots. If you can, climb up to Bear peak actually and not just as it shows on the trail map. It is a bit of a scramble, but views are absolutely worth it.Just be careful especially with ice and snow. This was a favorite hike of mine now. I will go back in summer months when there is no snow to check it out then as well.

Icy in spots but clear path overall; wore traction going down. Beautiful trail

Great moderate hike. Not much snow today. took about 2 hours including a break at the top and I had a baby on my back. A great view once you get to the top and some nice aspens along the way....somebody even left a pre-rolled out there.

Only saw a few people in the distance on this one. not much traffic on Friday at 1pm.

*bonus*

Beautiful views. Great trail for a quick (2.5) hike, close to Denver, easy ride to get there. Not a lot of traffic on the trail which was great for our first visit here.

Took the the mutt for a relatively quick hike near home (Boulder). Definitely a nice way to spend a sunny November afternoon. My dog's kind of lazy so it was just enough to tire her out. The views of the front range from the top are pretty cool. It's a steep ascent for the first twenty minutes or so but after that it levels out and you're essentially hiking on the top of the mesa.We didn't do the whole loop so it may vary more further up the trail. A good spot if you're looking for something close to home.Lots of bikes.

This was a great hike. It was so icy and hard to navigate. I will definitely go back when it gets warmer.

Nice trail-pretty views! A little icy though when we went.

Short and steep, but great views at the top! Winds were a little crazy today, so didn’t spend too much time up top. Some icy spots on the trail that spikes may have been useful for, but managed just fine.

Hiked on Wednesday afternoon. Stellar hike and beautiful views throughout!

Beautiful trail. Tough trail, a lot of uphill and tricky footing in places. Worth the climb for sure. Beautiful views! Be sure you have plenty of water.
