I really enjoy this hike. Definitely worth it to make it to the Upper Lake as it’s not as crowded. Camped overnight and hiked out early morning and saw a moose. Fairly easy, trail is well marked.

Great!

The quintessential Sawtooth hike. This is where one goes that wants to experience all the sawtoothiness the Sawtooths have to offer in a solid day hike. The hike itself isn't "hard." More moderate, but you do climb above 8,000 feet, and you will feel it if you're like me and come from sea level. You won't be alone on this trail, and everyone was courteous and kind, demonstrating fine trail etiquette when I hiked this on 8/1/2020. Starting earlier is better. If you want to extend yourself a bit more, veer to the right once you reach the lake and climb to the top of the divide for mind-blowing views that you'll likely have all to your own.

Fantastic trial! Awesome, well marked trail with decent elevation gain. Definitely stop off at alpine lake. Sawtooth lake was incredible. I would recommend this hike a thousand times over

Great hike, did today 11/2. Amazing weather 60’s and sun. Scramble is tricky in spots but was easy to follow trail on app. Did not see a single person on the trail today

We made the mistake of stopping at the little lake right before Sawtooth . Didn't realize until after we finished that we hadn't made it the whole way. Pretty snowy but not so bad that I couldn't do it in regular shoes. The small lake, what we thought was Sawtooth, was completely frozen over. Still a great hike with nice views of Alpine Lake. A little bit icy between Alpine and Sawtooth.

Awesome hike. The last part up to the lake is a scramble, but worth the view. Next time I’ll pack lighter. Saw some others struggling with their dogs during the rock scramble, just a heads up. I would suggest paying attention to your GPS fairly frequently because it’s pretty easy to get off trail at various points. No worries as long as you catch it soon. If conditions are good go for it.

Awesome trail. Took our 8 and 10 year old kids and they did well. Took just under 6 hours with the kids.

HikingGreat!

Did this hike with a group of family members that included my 10 and an 11 year old nephews. The total hike took roughly 7 hours, but we really took time to enjoy the views at both Alpine Lake and at Sawtooth lake. Once you reach the smaller lake that is adjacent to Sawtooth Lake, I would recommend hiking up the trail towards McGown Lakes for better views. I stopped at the saddle that overlooks Sawtooth Lake and the views were magnificent. That added roughly 30 minutes to the hike, but was well worth the extra effort. If I had to do it again, I would scramble to the summit of Alpine Peak. As far as the trail conditions, it was very well marked. There was a little snow in spots, but nothing deeper than a foot. I would say that the hike difficulty itself was moderate. The last leg from Alpine Lake to Sawtooth Lake was a little more rigorous as the terrain got steeper and the air got thinner. I registered just over 11 miles on my Garmin watch. Overall, it was a beautiful trail that I would definitely hike again.

Mileage discrepancy between AllTrails and my Apple Watch...my watch clocked me in at 9.11 miles. Either way great hike with stunning views of the lake!

great hike as everyone has said. Did the hike in trail runners which was fine except for the snow on the last 3/4 mile. Took me just under 4 hrs but I was hustling

Amazing mountains, beautiful hike. We ran into a little bit of snow, slush and water, but still very passable. Windy near the pass, but temperature was about perfect. An easy 10 miles.

Beautiful much of the way. Excellent day hike. You can get good views of Sawtooth Lake if you climb the small hill the trail skirts around when heading south along the water’s edge.
