Easy. Beautiful. Wet!!

Easy walking

Beautiful and extreme wind conditions!

Beautiful! It can get a little slippery on certain parts but there was usually enough gravel to mix with the snow and ice that it wasn’t too bad. Very well marked hike but would recommend good hiking boots! I’d also recommend continuing past the hot springs for just a little bit. My husband and I were able to see a beautiful waterfall a little further down that we wouldn’t have even known was there!

Great city! Great views!

AMAZING waterfall. So cool to be able to walk behind it. My favorite waterfall in Iceland.

This waterfall is great! Looks like something from another planet.

Love it. Great views.

Amazing waterfall. Pictures can’t do it justice.

It's Iceland, everything is beautiful.

The rating is for the waterfall...it is simply amazing.

Few / no crowds in August? Count me in! Two waterfalls, wonderful trail. Awesome example of basalt cliffs. And the upper waterfall shows off the layers of sediment / volcanic dust that built up over the centuries / millennia (?).

Trail was "up hill" but not steep.

The waterfall(s) are beautiful and awe inspiring. That being said, the Thingvallar / Geysir / Gulfoss triumvirate was underwhelming. Probably not worth a full day in the car. If we were to do the ring road again (and we were looking for natural beauty and hiking throughout the trip), we'd skip this day and spend more time along the south coast / glaciers.

Not your typical walk in the woods. One of our favorite hikes in Iceland. The "bridge" at the bottom was washed out. Probably not for the inexperienced -- cliff-side exposure on the southeast side with a need for route-finding skills on the way down the northwest side. But so worth it to get away from the tourons that swarm the easy trails.

The geyser erupts often

Great scenery and some interesting Icelandic history to learn about along the way, but very crowded and the waterfall is underwhelming compared to others in Iceland.

well paved trail and beautiful scenery nice easy hike

This is a great trail, lots of thermal activity to see. The hot spring river is nice to soak in, there are 2 sided chest high platforms to change up but your sure to show a little cheek. The end is not as warm as Id have liked so go further up if ypu want warmer. tThe elevation gain is pretty serious the first 1.1km or so of about 330m. def worth the effort and time. leave yourself at least 3 to 4 hrs to hike and soak and take photos.

Mystic and breathtaking waterfall

Great view, well worth the trip, just very crowded.

It was a decent view, pretty crowded but that's to be expected. Definitely a good spot to bring the family if you want to go for a little hike but not spend too much energy on it.

Pretty hike with a soothing payoff at the end. As of this review the address within AllTrails is incorrect...the trailhead is located next to the Hot River Cafe!

Beautiful hike, and worth going the entire loop. Watch your footing on the way down! Also, be wary that you may need to go barefoot across the water...our hike took us across freezing cold water almost to our knees while stepping on rocks. Regardless, one of the coolest hikes I've ever done!

So neat to see the city. If you're staying for awhile it helps get your bearings straight.

Beautiful hike to two waterfalls! Worth the harder uphill climb

Amazing hike!

The view at the top is incredible. When we went, the water level at the top was a little high. We ended up having to take off our boots and roll up our pants to cross the river. Absolutely worth it for the view on the way back. The best part about the hike was that it was 4.5 and not 3.9!!

We hiked this in July of 2017. The trail is not 11 miles, maybe 4 round trip (assuming you stop at the hot river - you can certainly hike on). Was a neat trail with lots of geothermal activity along the way. 3 star rating is due to the crowds...definitely the most crowded hike we did in Iceland!

Spectacularly gorge. The view unfolds and changes as you go. Countless feeder streams and falls entering the gorge. The most vibrant green moss.
