Short hike to waterfall. Really pretty. Very crowded with tourists

Hidden gem. Still unkown and therefore no turist

Beautiful easy hike.

Hengifoss is a steep but easy path up a gorgeous volcanic area with a beautiful and powerful waterfall at the end and another only slightly less powerful falls half way up. Well worth doing!

Beaucoup de monde

Magnifique.
Ramassez vos déchets en rentrant..

Incredible waterfall and such a cool experience to be able to walk behind it. After you leave continue down the path to the right (away from parking) to a small, even more impressive hidden waterfall! You have to walk through a small cave to get to it. It was my favorite waterfall in Iceland.

Easy to get to and beautiful waterfall.

The hike itself has some very nice views. We went the day after it snowed in early October. It was a bit cold and rainy. No one warned us until we walked through the rain for 2 miles... but the river was cold and no one was in it! We have no idea why... maybe that’s what happens after it snows. Keep this in mind if you try to go during the winter.

Very fun experience to go behind this big waterfall. But even better... hike down the path to Gljufrafoss! You have to step on some stones over a small creek into a cave to get to these hidden falls but it’s worth it. Loved visiting both falls.

Busy but you can't help but be impressed. Don't just stick to the bottom: climb the steps to the top and continue going up the path to see more falls and terrific views. There were about 100 people at the bottom and along the top path we came across maybe a dozen people.

One of my favourite hikes in Iceland. Agree with others that it is more medium than easy but definitely worth the climb to be treated to a dip in the natural springs.

the hike itself if meh and the trail is crowded. but the reward is worth it soaking in the warm spring water was great

The walk in was a bit steeper than the ‘easy’ implied- but good. The path is well maintained. We headed out around 10:30 am and it took us about an hour to walk to the river. Uphill most of the way. The river was lovely. Nice charging areas and plenty of places to sit. Some had suggested that the further upstream the hotter the water. Overall a beautiful hike and afternoon!

Get away from the chaos of Skogafoss and enjoy this waterfall all to yourself. The hike is short with a few small climbs and the waterfalls is a modest beauty. Ignore one of the reviews below: this trail is very much open. A really lovely short and rewarding hike

Criminally overlooked! This is an easy hike on a quiet stretch - perfect for getting away from the crowds. It takes in great views of the lava rock formations and allows you to get right up close to them all the while taking in views of the lake

a lovely walk through very interesting lava/rock formations. you can make our troll faces so maybe a fun one for children.

lovely easy hike with beautiful views. definitely recommend this one.

Beautiful views and not a difficult climb. interesting to see into a volcano

Very interesting walk and amazibg to see nature literally bubbling away and it makes you realise how active the ground is beneath your feet! Good information board explaining how the mud pools form

busy but worth it. do climb the stairs and walk through the gate and further along the views are lovely

Lovely easy hike and gets you away from the crowds. I recommend do this one. A short hike with a big reward

Wonderful loop and definitely one to do. the scenery is lovely throughout and ever changing. You will see on the trial a little extra bit do keep climbing to the top and round the corner as the views of the mountains are excellent and they vary in colour (one for morning or evening photography depending upon the time of year)

Lovely hike with a wonderful reward at the end. definitely bring your swimming gear!!! the temperature is lovely and perfect to relax in after a hike

Easy, short walk through the geothermal area

A pleasant walk rather than a hike. Be sure to do the church loop as it takes in the most impressive lava arch

Great views and easy to follow. Worth walking around the rim for 360 views across the lake area

My favourite hike in Iceland. Takes in varied scenery and the views of the mountains with all their colour is spectacular. Be sure to continue beyond the end of the trail for another 0.5km or so for some of the best views. Ideal for an evening hike. When returning (if going anti-clockwise) follow the white trail markers next to the large thermal pool

wonderful hike !

Fantastic and at the end you can have hot bath!
