People really need to clean up after their dogs

I began the trail at dawn and did not see a soul until near completion of the loop. Some areas of the track are boggy or under water/ice but generally the trail is in good condition and well maintained, and the hike is still thoroughly enjoyable even this late in the year.

I love the this place me and husband go all the time.

Went out with my husband this morning.

Pros: it's easy to get to, parking is ample, there are many options available to take with a variety of easy/hard, the trails are marked well, and everyone on the trail was kind.

Cons: I actually can't think of any.

This loop was more of an Easy Hike than Moderate personally, lots of VERY easy terrain, there were no gains or descents that required even paying attention to footing, the grade transitions were all smooth and easily navigated with not even an adjustment in walking speed required. Yes the terrain can be rocky and there are a number of roots to contend with, but neither of these were problematic at all. Rocks and roots were all less than maybe 6 inches tall at max for the most part, no scrambling, didn't even need trekking poles. We got lapped by a trailrunner a few times, and we saw children, elderly and clearly novice hikers having zero issues with the terrain itself.

Trail markings at some of the junctions and diversions were a little lacking and did require consultuing the map, but in 4.4+ miles, the 4 or 5 times this was required wasn't that much of a big deal.

All main / mapped trails were open. Only a very small handful of offshoot and unnamed trail loops were closed for habitat recovery as of 09/23/2018.

Would have been a 5 star "Easy" hike if it weren't for the few issues with trail markers not being placed at all the junctions/diversions.

the trail markings and maps are extremely confusing because there are different parcels abutting each other and there is not a single map for the whole area. but there are some very nice sections of this home and a great view of Hartford from the easy to access summit

Don’t bother following this route, just do some research and choose a colored trail to stick to (pink, blue, yellow). I tried following and it jumped around too much. The route ends in the middle of the blue trail, and has you head back. Next time I go I will pick a color and stick to it. Nice trails, easy terrain.

it was different with both the woods n the marsh,if u go there this wknd 9/15 do not where your deer outfit because bow season starts, I didn't like the gun shots either(squirrel hunters)

The only thing that was not closed for restoration was the WWII memorial but it was very nice. Trails are well marked, though we did get turned around a few times. The terrain gets to be very rocky with lots of tree roots which can start to get annoying but otherwise, it’s decent.

Beautiful area. The main trails are more like old country roads, and very easy to walk. They begin with incredible views of the marsh, and head into the woods. Once in the woods, there are lots of little side trails that all loop back to the main trail. These are not well marked if you’re looking for blazes, but the trails themselves are very obvious for the most part. Like the other reviews say, the mosquitoes are terrible. I had on bug spray, and still got eaten alive. I paused for a sip of water, and had a swarm on me. I couldn’t even count them. Will try again when it’s cooler.

By far the most poorly organized trail out there. The map at the beginning did not coordinate well with the actual trail/markings.

Some trails shut down :/. Maybe due to storms we’ll have to make a trip back;)

The trails are typically marked clearly and are kept in good condition. People with dogs should know that many people walk their dogs off leash so just plan accordingly.

Very nice hike, easy was definitely the right rating.. Be careful on rainy days as the boardwalk can be slippery.

nice trail

The WWII Memorial trail was closed for environmental restoration as of July 26 2018

It is a nice preserve however trails can be crowded with lots of groups and mosquitos were crazy bad. However, there is a bathroom in the gift shop and everyone is really nice!

It began as beautiful walk through the marsh and forest. Back and forth. Then...all woods. Lots of long grass. Bugs. All the bugs. The loop wasn’t clearly marked- thankfully we had all trails to help! Probably wouldn’t go again. Or maybe in the fall?

Disappointing this morning. I tried to take my kids here and the trails are very overgrown. We had to turn around part way through the blue loop.

Okay hike. Not very exciting, and never found waterfall unless the spillway at the beginning is it. Trail was not always easy to follow. Probably would have been a little better with a state trail map. Overall good day but not as scenic or exciting as we hoped. We started from the spillway on Trail 1 road.

This is a nice set of trails. Unlike many previous reviews, I did not have a difficult time navigating the blazes. They are inconsistently spaced, but clear. The sights involve high voltage power lines, and some of the trails are very gravelly paths that follow the power lines. Not my favorite. The wooded areas are lovely, but you will need bug spray! Even with my bug spray on, I had a constant swarm around my head and left with several bites.

Ideal for point A-B trail runs. Hoping it lives up to its name and I spot some wild hops.

Did the smaller of the trails and it was a good hike. My husband and I did the trail around the pond. Beautiful scenes, saw the waterfall, and got a decent sweat out of it.

Excellent trail and beautiful views , the green trail has some advanced hiking points.

had a wonderful walk. great for bikes or walking. bring big spray though.

My Fiancé and I gave this trail a go today and we really enjoyed it! The water views were great and it was a great walk through the wild life! Our only complaint is that finding markers on the way back were more difficult and confusing. They did leave maps however, which helped us greatly! We would definitely do this hike again!

Nice quiet trail, well marked
