Loved it, get there early to get a spot and bring your Discover Pass. You can purchase a day pass in the parking lot for $10. Recommend walking sticks for the descent. Beautiful views of river and falls.
Air quality was good but a bit of a haze still lingered.

I’m a novice hiker and this was my second hike in the PNW so far. The views along the way made it really enjoyable the whole way.

Beautiful!

Lakes are beautiful. It’s about 15 minutes south of surprise lake till you reach glacier. There are a ton of bugs at the lake but they don’t bite

Great hike for beginners and kids. Awesome overnighter as well. lots of camp spots with rock fire rings. Plenty of lake area to play in and the scenery is awesome.

One of the best hikes I’ve been on!

Very easy trail. It had little elevation, but it was still a nice walk/hike. The lake is absolutely beautiful. Would do again.

Fun hike! Not too difficult but enough uphill/roots/rocks to present a bit of a challenge (keep in mind, I moved here from one of those flat states in the middle, so you’re mileage may vary). It was a bit hazy today, due to wildfire smoke, but still a pretty spot! Hung out by the lake for a bit and only saw a few other people. Got to the trailhead about 10 and only four other cars in lot...lots more when I left at 1 (especially for a Monday, I thought).

Last four miles of the drive to the trailhead are on a gravel road...the road isn’t in bad shape but not fun if you already have to pee!

Started the trail at Smithbrook Trailhead. Parking lot nearly full on a July afternoon, but the lake was uncrowded. Trail is nicely switchbacked and the elevation that you gain on the way up to the junction with the PCT goes quickly and easily. The lake is spectacular. We had lunch on a large rock situated above the water and could easily see the fish swimming around the logs below. Crystal clear water. Just about a perfect dayhike.

Very doable, very pretty views of the waterfalls!

Nice way to cool down walking along the river.

This was such a fun hike. We did the short version that catches up to the PCT. You hit switch backs right away and then get on the PCT for the rest of the way which is nice because you have all of that energy and motivation to get you up the switches and then it levels out and is pretty flat the rest of the way until you do a couple of switches going down to the lake. The lake is gorgeous and pristine. It's clean enough that you could totally drink out of it if you had to but it's always a good idea to use a fitting system of some kind. We used a Bobble water bottle and we're fine. The water is a little cold but after hiking in the hot sun it is a welcomed friend. This lake also features a beach which I haven't seen before at a mountain lake. So if you know of any others that feature a beach let me know! Happy trails!!

Great trail. Easy and flat in places, a lot of incline and terrain most places. Middle falls is best view of the falls. Just passed that is a great view of the valley.

Went on a very hot Monday afternoon so I was one of the only people on the trail. Certainly beautiful. The different viewpoints are good for families with different skill levels.

took two 4 year olds. harder than anticipated but still not difficult. the lake is beautiful and totally worth it. took about 3 hours round trip with about an hour break in the middle for lunch

Nice moderate trail. Pretty waterfalls. Went to Upper Falls via Woody Trail with Diane.

I clocked this hike at 6.25 mi, the view at the top of the falls was really incredible and worth the pain! The inclines are no joke.

this could be stop and relax kind of trail, i would say. well maintained. I thought i was going to stop and continue my Monday adventure but i stayed longer than i planned because watching and listening while the water ranging is always makes me feel good. you should stop by if you're around.

If you like hiking with the rest of the state, difficulty finding parking and a less than mediocre view point of the waterfall, then Wallace falls is for you. I was highly disappointed by the trail and regret driving the 3 hours to hike it. Was more on the easy-moderate side, my 4 year old had no problem doing it.

I would consider easy not moderate trail, take repellent the mosquitos on the trail are relentless. Great history, not crowded and perfect for a fun easy hike.

Very nice hike. Trail is still fairly muddy and plenty of snow, but completely doable. Mosquitoes are out, but spray took care of them no problem. There was a decent amount of traffic. Unfortunately, a few kids were at the lake, which were quite loud and could have done without that. Views are stunning though. I added Mt McCausland to the hike, which ended up a 8 miles exactly.

Easy trail, pretty views around the lake. Lots of camping spots, would be a nice place to backpack. Lots of children and families.

Beautiful trail! Old forest. Saw a black bear driving on the dirt road. The mosquitos were aggressive at the 2 mile mark and kept this up to the top, then disappeared. The little flies on top came in waves! Very little snow on the trail. A few running water flows lower but didn't even wet the boot. Tiger Lily growing on side of trail about 1.50 miles up. There is a washed-out section about 0.4 miles in which you can navigate easily. Trailhead potty out of TP. Moderate difficulty.

We did this hike but from Smithbrook Trail/Stevens Pass. It was about 7 miles round trip, easy moderate level. Had lunch at the lake which was stunning. Only downside was the bugs were out and we got eaten alive despite having on bug spray.

PROs:
1. Payoff - the view at the lake is beautiful and worth it in my opinion (not worth it in my husbands opinion - he hated this hike). The foliage on the way is also quite lovely.
2. Solitude - we hiked on a Saturday morning (8:30 to 10:45) and never saw a single person on the trail or at the trailhead.
3. Beat the heat - trail is shaded almost the entire way and the temp was 10 degrees cooler than in Leavenworth when we were there.

CONs:
1. Two thirds of this hike are a straight up climb. Yes, seriously.
2. The entire trail is swarming with mosquitos. We wore permethrin-treated clothing and picaridin and were still harassed the whole way, so be prepared to fight for your life.
3. There are large sections of this trail that are almost completely overgrown, so if you hate bush-whacking (like my husband) then this may not be the trail for you.

Still snow on the trail as of JY 11, 2018. Even though it didn’t interfere, I recommend not doing this hike before mid-JY

Went on a Monday, only 8 cars in the lot. Saw some snow at the top, bugs were aggressive, but totally worth it! Stunning views.
