This was a great hike. I arrived at 9:10am and passed only one group hiking the entire way to the springs. Once there, there were a few campers enjoying the area but overall very quiet. This was on a Friday. The springs were beautiful and very peaceful. Going back was harder than the going for sure. Wear shoes with grip - it’s loose rock at some points and a bit steep but that part of it is about 30 min total. The 5.5 miles took me 2 hours and 30 min plus I stayed at the springs for about 15-20 min (would have stayed longer if I could have). I saw two groups on the way back. I was otherwise alone and cell service is very sketchy. Good news is that the trail is well marked and hard to get lost. Enjoy!
This hot springs was BEAUTIFUL! LNT! The walk/hike there was about 35-45 min depending if you stop often, back up is about 1.5hr !! All up hill, and going back try to remember which path you took, my friends and I got lost but still got to the car, just took a longer road on accident. Once we got to the creek though, it was worth it. BEWARE there are nudist so if You’re going w kids keep a look out. Also Pack some food!! lol This isn’t a place you’ll be leaving too soon once you arrive!!(: AGAIN please please take any trash w you that you bring ; LEAVE NO TRACE
It is an easy hike at first, with an enjoyable view as you traverse the mountains and notice the water rushing that you will soon be brought to and I fully recommend it for young adventurers. The hike back however will be very challenging with a steep drop towards the end. You must navigate yourself carefully as the trail begs you to twist your ankle. This trail allows for nudity too and is family friendly, so if you’re bringing kids beaware! The spot in which you are brought too features 4 hot springs, three very nice and one more mossy hidden behind the granite mountain. To get across the lake to the springs you must step through freezing water, it can be painful with it’s temperature but to bathe in a springs it is very well worth!
Love it
I really enjoyed this trail and definitely will be coming back! There were a couple of steep parts coming back out, but otherwise pretty level. Once you get down to the river, you have to cross to get to the springs. After dipping in those, I kept walking down the river a ways for some good bouldering/rock scrambling. The scenery is great!
This was a fun hike. Although it was a little difficult the experience was the best. You follow the blue dots on the rocks and you’ll get there just fine. It was a little confusing starting the trail but we found our way. We had to cross the river to get to the hot springs. You can either walk through the water or try to step on the rocks to get to the other side but either way we were going to get wet because the river water was higher than usual. The hot springs were very warm about 90 degrees, there were other small pools that were hotter. I would definitely do this again.
Go early! Two steep inclines but otherwise level :) hot spring felt amazing!
Went yesterday 2/7. The road is not muddy or any conditions that results in loss of traction You do not need a 4x4 or a high clearance car, you just need to dodge the holes which is very easy to do. Any regular car can make it so don’t let that deter you. The place is awesome and totally worth it. Some of the pools were jacuzzi hot Side note I would not take a lowered car though Also also the fee is $5 per person for the day not $10 The $10 is for overnight camping Bring exact cash there is no change
pretty nice hike, just keep in mind if you take this trail you'll have to cross the river first, the hot springs are on the other side and the water in the river is pretty cold right now, but overall really enjoyable! also is $5 dollars per person and $10 if you're camping on Bowen Ranch!
Nice hike in from Bowen’s Ranch parking lot. Took my 6 & 7 year olds along with my pointer pup. The hike has markers all along the trail, very easy to navigate.
First time here and it was amazing! (1/26/21) First off the property owner/campground host is a very nice older gentlemen. We had a small Hyundai hatchback with terrible tires and left it about 1.5 miles from the trailhead on the side of the road due to all the snow/ice and a very large puddle covering the road. We decided to walk the rest of the way. So 4X4 is recommended in the winter time just to be safe, otherwise 2WD is just fine. We walked up to the entrance and paid the $10 per person to enter, he was very helpful (forgot his name!) giving us a map and giving us a ride the rest of the way to the trailhead. He made sure we had flashlights in case we came back in the dark and seemed worried we weren’t dressed warmer. Hike itself was beautiful, kind of steep but I’ve hiked much worse so depends on your hiking level. The springs were beautiful and warm, some much hotter than others, you do have to cross a coldish stream to get to them but it wasn’t too bad. Lots of friendly (and nude) people were there. We stayed a couple hours and then hiked back up very easily. Take your trash with you!! Pack it in pack it out. We watched the sunset at the top of the trailhead and realized it was getting much colder in the upper 20 degrees. The campground host and two of his workers were waiting for us so they could give us a ride back to our car - so nice! Saved us a bunch of time and from freezing. We will definitely be back.
