nice ride

Great trail, very minor technical areas. There was a large tree down on the north side and I came across a wasp or something that stung me in the chest. Otherwise it was very open and very well maintained. I typically run 7-10 miles of trails every weekend. I did 6 miles and I feel like I could run this often if I didn't live out of state. No mosquitoes, but I was moving at a decent pace.

Beautiful trail, just don’t forget the bug spray!

Great trail, one of my weekly runs. 3.2 miles around the big loop, but doesn’t get boring if your doing multiple laps. The construction that has been going on seems to be completed.

I really love this trail as it is very open to walking as well as biking and offers beautiful scenery along every mile you take.

Great trail!! Easy riding on a paved fairly level path and beautiful scenery! The bridge is gorgeous and we liked all of the stops with historical information.

Good trail, easy to get turned around when you reach the river, especially if you are on the wilderness loop and end up going an extra 2 miles on the northern loop! Peaceful walk with a moderate incline near the river but not too bad. Would recommend bug spray if going during the summer.

Main part of the trail was under construction when we went. We read reviews and completely covered ourselves in deep woods bug spray and were still swarmed! I plan to give it another chance at the end of fall when the bugs are gone

Just a really nice, easy ride. The half of the trail between Slater and Woodward is a better ride than Slater to Ankeny, and not just because of the bridge. It’s just more scenic and more beverage stops if you’re so inclined.

Great views. Bring bug spray- the mosquitos swarm around walkers and joggers.

awesome trail. Please don't forget the bug spray

Love it did 6 miles

This is quite the popular lake, busy with partiers and boaters/fisherman. I started the trail in the primary parking lot going clockwise around the lake. I saw maybe like 20 people during my hike. The trail itself is very nice. But then I got around almost to the end and you come across the campgrounds. Where to go then? I didn't really like trudging through a busy campground very much. If I were to do this again, I'd do an almost full loop, turn around and retrace the other direction.

Interesting trail, great for trail running.

Nicely maintained trail with light traffic. I had a great time hiking here!

It’s quiet minus the traffic nearby but loads of birds and a good distance with no real inclines/declines for need an even level path.

Great trail by Iowa’s standards! Compared to Colorado yah no

Bring your bug spray!

We went in the morning and the mesquites were very intense! The trail is a dirt packed path, which is pleasant to walk on. Quite a few parts are covered with moss, so probably not the best place to hike after recent rains. The full loop is a little over 3 miles, add in the small loop and you can add about another half mile to the tally. Decent inclines and declines throught out. There are busy roads in close proximity, so if going counter clockwise on the loop, the road is heard for half of the hike, then fades off in the distance for the second half. Very good forest scenery...lots of birds spotted.
