Did this on Turkey day and saw nobody. Bring your good set of knees and good hiking shoes, this trail will destroy you. There was snow up there but just enough to get your feet wet so hopefully you have waterproof boots. I put my micro spikes on because there had been some freezing rain the trail was pretty icy and steep in parts so the traction was nice. Because of time constraints I didn't quite make it to Insiration Point or Logan Peak. Beautiful area.

love this hike and the views. Crisp new snow this morning and didn't pass another person the whole time. Fresh Cougar tracks this morning. If you park at the wind caves and walk across the street into the camp ground you will find the trailhead that takes you up the hills first, and get your blood pumping. watch your step at the top, huge drop offs.

This was a beautiful trail but the difficulty is deceiving. If you are afraid of heights, you might want to rethink the adventure as it is very steep at the ascent with narrow parts. Definitely would have benefited from hiking poles as I ended up using the hillside to descend. I also did not make it up as my fear of heights made me turn back half-way up the ascent. I will do it again but next time I am bringing better equipment and more bravery!

I think moderate wheeling is a good description. I have a long bed tacoma with 33’s and a 2.5” lift. This trail really wasnt bad. Went in the early spring on a rainy day so there was some slipping on the rocks as when gained elevation. I did have a rear locker on as well so that helped. Beautiful scenery. Some prior off roading skill will help you ascend the trail with no damage or scratches. This trail is probably not for beginners. Lots of fun, a moderate challenge.

This is the perfect date hike. Very easy hike along the Logan river. can hike to second dam, third dam, or just around first dam, depending on the length you desire.

We hiked this Saturday up to probably .25 miles from the top. It was a beautiful trail and great exercise! The last mile was all in snow that at times got up to a foot deep. I would say it’s still hikeable but it’s freezing at the top! I would take some good sweats, waterproof shoes, and gloves are a must. No one had hiked to the point we had got to though, so I think we were still on the trail, but it was beautiful! The point we had got to and back was closer to 11 miles verse 9 though... perhaps this next week will melt a little of the snow and make it still hikeable- I definitely want to try this one again!

Nice hike. Steep in the beginning but evens out. If you’re
scared of heights you might want to reconsider, a few spots were on the edge, don’t look down!

Loved it. Finished in 5.5 hours and ran into two or three people. Amazing hike in the fall. Got snowed on at the top ridge a little. One of my favorite hikes ever and I go hiking at least three times a week. The forest service was clearing some of the overgrown brush but with pant it didn’t matter at all wear pants and long sleeves and maybe 5% of the trail was overgrown (definitely exaggerated by some in previous reviews). To be so high up in the clouds and seeing the entire Cache Valley and Boxelder County was breathtaking. Definitely a bucket list hike I’ve wanted to do for years. I hike very often and it left my legs sore due to the steep climb and descent.

Beautiful hike for all seasons. Shade in the summer, beautiful fall foliage and usually groomed in the winter (I like to snowshoe it). It is a gradual climb along the stream with a couple of bridges. Once you reach the rock quarry hill it is a bit steeper and has looser rock, but getting to the top provides a beautiful view down canyon and of the waterfalls (we spotted three on a rainy day). There are a lot of shell fossils in the loose quarry rock that are fun to find.

Note: the waterfalls are actually just beyond where the red path line on the map shows; you have to hike up to the top of the rock quarry to see them. Once you come to the giant loose rock hill, follow the 4 wheel drive road up to the quarry. When the road reaches the flat top of the quarry, look left and right there may be one on each side. To find the third and easiest to walk up to, walk the flat quarry top west until it turns back in to a dirt road and turns the corner. The waterfall is just beyond that turn.

beautiful easy level trail!

It was a fun hike!! Beautiful steam, waterfalls and plenty of friendly mountain bikers to ask questions of! We’ll do it again !!

Lovely hike with the right amount of up, down and traversing the mountain. Also it is largely in the shade. The down is a bit steep in places so hiking sticks are nice if you have sensitive knees.

One of my favorite hiking spots. The scenery is amazing!

Hiked it with my 2.5 year old and some friends it was amazing! A few sources of water along the way and peaceful.

Hiked this yesterday with my daughter. The climb out was pretty strenuous. But, well worth it. Very beautiful.

The fall colors were just starting to appear! This is a great hike, not too steep, amazing views!

Such a fun hike! It was pretty steep for the first little but and then it evened out. The views were beautiful and I would recommend this hike!

Very nice trail. Elevation gains aren’t too bad. The hardest Park is coming back up through the switch backs in the fir forest right before you get to the lake. Beautiful views. The trail is actually 8.2 miles according to my gps, if that matters. Trail is clearly marked. Bring plenty of water/ sunscreen and hat if doing a day hike because there are large portions of the trail with no shade. Great/little hike! The gps took us to wrong place. Just follow Tony Grove rd all the way to the end. It was $7.00 to park.

We had the whole hike and lake to ourselves. It was beautiful

Very pretty and not too hard, at all. I got the hike done in about 2 1/2 hours, but that was with me stopping and taking pictures the whole way. I didn't see a single soul throughout the whole hike.

Good hike. Our seven year old with a cousin to distract him did surprising well on the hike. Given the young age of some of our hikers (7, 9,10) plus teens and adults we felt good about the 3.5 hours it took to reach the peak. Rocky with a pretty constant incline most of the way. (The first half was definitely easier then the second.) It was harder than expected, especially on the knees coming down.

Nice loop to hike if you have an afternoon to hike. Toughest part was the switchbacks up and downhill. Mostly shaded so the heat wasn’t a problem. Many lookout spots that have incredible views.

pretty easy trail between 7.5-8 miles. mostly flat. the hardest part is going back up once you get to the lake! there were TONS of cows and sheep everywhere though so watch out

This trail was not very fun. It was hot and the views are horrible. You are by a fence the whole time with the sun blasting on you.

Loved this hike! Fairly strenuous on the way up. Not too technical. It was safe and fun for our 2 huskies to join us and the view was incredible! Love being at the highest peak in the bear river mountains.

Yeah I also agree this trail should definitely be rated as hard, but as a hard trail I love it! I hiked it multiple times in the middle of the day in the heat of the summer(about 95 degrees) and it was hot but not unbearable due to the trees shading the vast majority of the hike after the first half mile. Along the way you get some good views back out to Logan canyon, but unfortunately nothing overly spectacular until you top out at Logan Peak. The last couple miles you are on a road which kinda sucks but it’s not busy by any means, and once u get to the top it’s all worth it!!

The spectacular wildflowers and lovely lake at the end of the trail make this one a "must do". Went on a Saturday, and had lots of company. Low on solitude, but high on friendly people enjoying Mother Nature's gifts

The warnings about the overgrown trail are not exaggerated. There are a couple of miles of enjoyable trail on the ridge but I’m not sure if it was worth it.
