The first tunnel has about a foot of standing water and because the railroad tracks are above it (fenced off) there is no avoiding it. Start at a different park.
soft snow. not easy, subj in and slid down dangerously
It was longer than we expected but extremely rewarding. Bring yak tracks in the winter, it can be slippery on the side of the steep mountain. 10/10 would recommend. amazing viewpoint to watch the sunset, sunrise, or northern lights.
Slushy
Super windy and snowy right now. Crampons a must. Be prepared to butt slide down
The trail was in good condition and overall a very enjoyable hike. I would definitely recommend some kind of traction devices as some spots were pretty slick. Be careful near the summit since it is very windy.
Well Snow packed trail , soft snow in some spots near top but easily manageable, wore spikes but didn’t really need them.
there was uneven snow and some parts were mushy. it's also slippery so micro spikes would be helpful.
Wet Snow. Great weather
Excellent late winter snowpack made for an easy and exceptionally beautiful hike. Bring cleats and poles as it can be icy. Both the upper and lower trails are groomed for hikers.
Great short hike with frozen falls at the end. Trail is wide and easy to follow, but covered with snow. Suggest using ice spikes to make the ups / downs much easier. Be sure to climb up the frozen falls at the end for a spectacular view!
Completed this in June of 2017. It was relatively busy in the afternoon when we went, but it was manageable. We brought our dog up until the rocky point in which you had to climb. The climb wasn't too bad, but there were some steep parts I had to have a hand to be pulled a little because I'm pretty short. Overall, I don't recall it taking too much time out of our day and once we reached the top it was worth it!
Beautiful hike with hard pack snow.
Couldn't get to the top due to rain and unclear path.
Very easy. Beautiful view of the falls.
Hiked March 26th. Beautiful views but the trail was non-existent when we attempted. We made it most of the way but the last portion got steep and slippery with the snow. We suggest spikes/crampons and trekking poles if you want to go all the way to the top.
Good trail. Recommend cramp ons. A spectacular day on the mountain.
Packed in clear to follow. Beautiful views all the way to the top. Last mile will get your legs working but well worth it!
Packed trail. Narrow in spots so take it slow to avoid post hiking. Snowshoes or XC skis would be great. When you arrive at the trailhead- take the path to the right. Initial ascent is steep- poles are helpful. After that it tends to level to slight rolling hills. Made it to the bridge before heading back. Snow made it more difficult to walk. If on skis it would have been much of a longer hike! Great day! Loved the trail. Views are always incredible!
trail was well groomed, views were beautiful
