Beautiful overlook – the clearing takes you wonderfully by surprise. Haven’t seen a view like this in Ohio.

One of my favorite spots in Hocking Hills. They added a concrete wall inside of the formation to prevent you from climbing out on the edge now but you can easily hop over it. There’s an easy way there, and “difficult”. Views from here in the fall are spectacular!

This hike had been on my list for awhile. Wow, was it worth the wait! The trail is well maintained and the scenery is some of the best I have seen in this general region of the state. There is definitely some terrain here, expect to do some steep climbs and descents (well, steep for Ohio!) but they reward with views from on top of some outstanding rock formations.

Sooo I loved this hike! I’m in my thirties.. very do-able. However, my two hiking buds were in their 60s annnd this was a bit strenuous for them. 100% recommend trekking poles for someone who isn’t as able- bodied or wants that extra support. I would describe it as light rock crawling lol ... muddy, sometimes slick. I’d say it was about 6 miles round trip. The trail was beautiful though! I just probably wouldn’t have chosen this trail if I knew it was going to be as challenging for those I was with. I’d also leave the pups at home... ours pull way too much for this one. I’ll be back better prepared :) and wear better footwear than tennis shoes.. I doubt this area is ever dry.

Nice variety of trails. Beautiful.

Easy hike and pretty short out and back. Definitely a different feel from Old Man's Cave gorge. The gorge is narrower and greener in my opinion. Well worth the hike and the waterfall at the end is really nice.

A busy, short trail. Lots of kids. The rock house is a must see. Easy hike. Squeeze this hike into your day!

This place is an awesome hike. It gives you a variety of terrain and surroundings; from pines, to rick out-croppings, and a beautiful stream. Trail is well marked and easy to follow even with leaves down. There are two loops both with some elevation gain, but with switchbacks so they are not bad. Round trip both loops 4.75 miles. Will make this a regular one!

Great hike for Ohio! Pretty, quiet and good elevation changes. Highly recommend it!

Great hike and good workout! 3 hours with a nice variety of trails and scenery!

It was a beautiful trail. Took our toddlers. Was easy enough for them and they really enjoyed the waterfall.

Ran these trails today. Was raining but not so bad under the trees. Great single track trails. Well marked. Good rolling trails. Saw plenty of deer. Will go back for more runs.

Very beautiful. Small hills

My son and I hiked the 8ish mile route. The trails were very well maintained and well marked- lots of “ not a trail” signs! The scenery is beautiful- lots of changes in ecosystems as we travelled up and down the hills. We did get a permit to visit the falls. It’s a very short distance from the road- not really a hike- but it was worth it. We’d love to see this entire area after a rainfall! This hike is listed as “ hard” but I’d put it in the moderate category. We will return in the spring for the wild flowers.

Great little hike

Steps and steps and more steps! Loved it

pretty crowded, steep steps, requires some careful climbing, goes to inside of a cave formation with uneven ground. kids love it for exploring, feels like a short walk just a little challenging

nice short easy trail that takes you into the woods, nice scenery and nature walk, paved

The Gorge Overlook was a pleasant, easy trail. It gets crowded by Old Man’s Cave. Recommend to go early morning to beat the crowds.

Hemlock was our start and end point for a big loop that we did that included Whispering Cave, Cedar Falls, Gorge Overlook, Old Man’s Cave and part of the Grandma’s/Buckeye Trails (about 10 miles round trip). There were some cool features along Hemlock/Whispering Cave. We were there really early and had the entire trail to ourselves. Later that morning the trail got pretty crowded. There are some parts where you have to scramble over rocks and tree roots. Also, understand that Hemlock descends into a gorge so you are climbing back up when you return. Not terribly difficult but after walking all of those other trails we definitely felt the ascent back up.

Great trail! Checked out the “rock shelter” and that was just OK. Nothing exciting along the “rock shelter loop”.. I wouldn’t hike that portion again. The rock bridge is really cool and I love that this trail was not very crowded.

I enjoyed the trails. Very few fellow hikers. We saw 4 deer and plenty of squirrels.
There are no facilities. However, Hocking Hills Winery is just a hop, skip, and a jump away.
I thought the trails were solid 'moderate' so wear appropriate shoes and bring poles or walking sticks.

Nice set of trails close to the Columbus area. Very few people on the trail when we were there. Nicely shaded all throughout. Note that if you park by the covered bridge there is a decent walk to get to the trailhead, maybe about .6 of a mile. Christmas Rock Trail was pleasant but really uneventful. More like a nice nature walk. Jacob’s Ladder is challenging in parts but the overlook at the top is worth the climb.

I went as soon as the park opened and it was such a beautiful and peaceful place. I only did a few of the loops and it took me around an hour and a half. It was very hilly at some points so I got a good workout in, that’s for sure! The trail was well kept, there was even a ranger there mowing a field, and besides from him, I’m pretty sure I was the only one there. You DO need a
permit to see the waterfalls, which you can get online and I think it only takes a few days to get back. I stuck to viewing the ponds and it was nice enough for me.

I also saw a box turtle, hawk, and a deer, which were all good company. I can’t wait to explore more!

Go after it rains. The waterfalls are way cooler.

Very pretty trail! After the pavement stops there is a waterfall worth going forward for.
