trail running

I have only run part of the trail but I love it! It is a great workout with some steep inclines. I did get lost a few times but that added to the fun.

Majestic lake views, varied terrain, an equal mix of sun and shade, not overwhelmingly crowded and super clean. Bathrooms are plentiful too.

This hike is closer to 10 miles and while it is doable for humans on a 90 + degree day, it is not safe for dogs. I chose this hike because I was looking for a long, mostly shaded trek given the heat. The hike has beautiful views and a lot of shade as described, but I did not expect to find several stretches of scorching hot pavement that my dog and I could not avoid. I would recommend doing this hike on a cooler day or in the early morning. Dog owners beware.

I biked this trail today, I'm new to mountain biking and this was very tough for me. I had a lot of fun and I see myself coming back here again and again to work on my biking.

Lots of shade, gorgeous views and very accessible.

Great place to walk but watch for the bikers for they travel fast on the path.

The views were nice and nice spots to stop for a snack.

goid hike a bit a hill, some flat, rocks and tree cover

Mostly shaded hike with a few exposed areas. Youou pass a lot of bay trees, eucalyptus and redwoods. It makes for some lovely scents along the trail. There is a moderate uphill section in the middle, but ends with mostly downward slope. Great hike for exercise!

We really enjoyed this trail.
Started at the canyon trail went to east ridge and lastly the stream ridge trail. I’m glad we did it this way because canyon was a steep incline for about a mile and has decent views but when we got to stream ridge I was so surprised with how pretty it was, the last 3 miles just flew by. It was shaded so not too hot for the pups either! Will definitely be returning to check out other trails

Came with a group of 8. Parking fee is needed for this regional park. They do have plenty of parking and some bathrooms. I thought it was a beautiful trail with some very steep parts. Not sure I would consider this an ‘easy’ trail but more towards the high end of easy to moderate. Loved the beautiful trees surrounding the trails. Most of the trail is pretty wide but watch out for mountain bikers as they will go downhill pretty fast. It’s a very popular trail and people going on this trail are pretty friendly. I would come back again!

Lots of cow paddies but now cows. Definitely go clockwise. Some bugs due to proximity to the water.

A fairly moderate trail-loop with some inclines that are manageable with regular comfortable walking shoes. It was a particularly warm day so the 6+ miles seems rather long. Overall, a nice trail, super easy to follow when you don't want to do too much planning or looking out for trail name sign posts!

Lots of super friendly dogs! We loved it. It took is two hours to hike counterclockwise with three adults and three pre-teens. Would’ve been ‘faster’ but we just had to stop and meet all the friendly pooches.
A very clean trail- only a few poo bags on the side and no actual dog ‘debris’ to be seen. Only a bit of horse droppings where we crossed to the horse trail.

Grueling but rewarding.

I loved this hike and all it had to offer but, and one major BUT, it’s definitely not easy. The beginning is like a brisk walk in the park but the last half was literally like walking up 100 flights of stairs only to have to slide down half on my butt on the way back. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fit person and I love a good challenging hike, but I brought my family along and it’s didn’t exactly lend itself to a nice, peaceful, family style hike.

If you’re in for a good workout, this one is for you. Other than that, turn around at the spilt into redwood peak and call it a day!

Hugged by the redwoods, beautiful stream, fairly quiet.

Great hike, but I disagree on it being “easy” as there is a steep section up followed by a fairly steep, rocky section down. I’m a fit person and enjoyed it, but brought a friend along that struggled. To me, this trail isn’t friendly for all skill levels. We were looking for something long and shaded so we could chat and catchup and it ended up being more “moderate” than I was hoping. I should have paid closer attention to the elevation/climb as I think that’s a better indication of needed skill after using this app over the past year.

All in all, I love Redwood Regional Park and all it has to offer... I’ll just need to be more selective about the trails and people I bring with me next time.

wonderful hike!

Very enjoyable. Nice hike with some terrain variation and dogs can go off-leash. Bikers seem to enjoy it too and the trail is mostly wide enough for everyone. Good mix of shade and sun and a few vistas along the way. Just enough wildflowers in bloom to make it really feel like spring. As marked, the hike is just over 3.8 miles taking the loop clockwise and going Dunn to Graham to West Ridge to Baccharis to Dunn. There is no trail marker where Baccharis and West Ridge intersect. If you don't take a map, you'll want to note that it's 0.4 miles from Graham to Baccharis as you walk along West Ridge, that way you can keep an eye out for that trail. Or if you take the trail in reverse you can't miss the turn from Baccharis to West Ridge as that's where Baccharis ends. You can park in the lot off Skyline at Crestmont Drive and walk behind the building to get to the trailhead. Or, if you park off the road near where Joaquin Miller Road and Skyline meet, you can join the about trail 0.1 miles in.

Great hike, lovely wildflowers all along the path. Could not find the loop (did not download the map) so circled back after 2 miles. Lots of ups and downs so feels like a nice workout and plenty of shade along the way. Several lovely vistas to look over the valley and over to the bay. Very enjoyable.

Good civilized trail

Tranquil and scenic. Very well maintained trail and a lot of coverage of shades. It is a very comfortable hike even on a hot day. The 9 mile distance makes it a real work-out.

Spring hiking

Beautiful mostly quiet trail with many different kinds of wild flowers. Sunny but with some redwoods and shade at times. Easy, not much up hill if you go clockwise. The trail can be a bit hard to follow with the signposts and map but we managed to find our way around. Take a map at the parking lot! Lots of dog owners and their dogs!

I've done this loop many times, both hiking and running. It's an excellent trail to run, just the right amount of challenge. Gorgeous views of the lake in some places. A nice mixture of sun and shade and excellent wildlife viewings. Love this trail - especially now that the dam is open again!

Clean, marked well, multiple challenging inclines, some scary narrow steep areas, finished in 2.5 hours running walking. Def would do it again
