Hiked on 7/22. Hiked up in dark to reach Ice Lake for sunrise. Breathtaking for both effort and for the scenery. Wildflowers and the turquoise blue color of the lake were wonderful. Went up to Island Lake after, which was also beautiful.

Hiked this on 7/21. Was very beautiful. Hiked up in the dark to get above lower Blue Lake for sunrise. It was amazing. Eventually got up to highest lake. Wildflowers not as profuse as wetter years but they were still great.

beautiful.

Other reviews capture this quintiessential Colorado hike. Majestic views, turquoise lake, rewarding hike.

One of my favorite hikes I've done. I'd say it's more of a moderate / little hard hike. The last part is the gnarliest, long stone steps to the top, and a little scramble up a waterfall before reaching the top. Bring a rain jacket or windbreaker. The wind is pretty crazy.

Gorgeous hike - highly recommend.

Start early and start at GG trailhead..

One of the most beautiful hikes in the area!

One of the best lakes in the Rockies !! Totally worth the visit.

This trail is gorggggg. We went during the week so didn’t have an issue with parking. I typically try not to repeat hikes since there are so many trails to be traveled in CO, but I’d totally do this again with visitors. It’s an easy hike and it’s beautiful the whole way to the lake. The lake itself was, as my visitor said, “the exact scene I wanted at the end of the trail.”

I feel a great sense of accomplishment for my 10 year old daughter, who was the only kid on the trail to Chasm lake today. It was a great hike! So lucky to see a moose, out of nowhere, crossed the trail in front of us. It was scary and amazing at the same time! We waited a few long minutes for the clouds over Long’s peak to blow away. It got so windy but we came prepared and finished the hike.

Wow this hike was magical! Had to get off the trail a few times to let elk pass by, the views are incredible the entire hike. I would do this hike again!

What an incredible hike. It’s strenuous with lots of elevation gain, but so beautiful. A few water crossings and amazing sights along the way. We took our time and stayed at the lake and Island lake for about 30-45 minutes each. Definitely a must see!

Great scenery. Easy route. Lots of people with lots of dogs. Very limited parking at trailhead, be prepared to start your hike from a remote parking lot.

This was a dream hike for me. I had been wanting to make this trip for a while but thankful I waited until I was in better shape. This trail winds past Alberta Falls ( stunning) and up to Loch Lake. In the distance you can see Timberline Falls where you will need to traverse the falls. This girl does not do heights very well but with a push from my dear friends and hiking partners and the kindness of a stranger lending me hand a up I was able to see Glass Lake and my goal of Sky Pond. This was truly a beautiful hike. It took us 8 hours to complete this trek round trip, we spent time at each lake taking in the beauty, because why would you not? We are in the 40ish category and in decent physical shape. I would put this closer to 10 miles and a decent elevation gain.

Wow, this is an amazing hike! It was the perfect length and difficulty, for the occasional hiker. We started at 7:30. Got the last spot on the side of the road at the trail head. We got to the lake at 11. We had a some sandwiches. The hike took almost 6 hrs. We took 45min total for rest. So happy we did this hike instead of Twin Sisters.

Difficult trail, but can be done in 5 hours if you hustle, steep for a good amount of the trail, but it’s worth it when you get to the lakes, very scenic

fun hike! we only made it as far as lower blue lake due to some issues with the altitude, but it was gorgeous nonetheless! the trail opens up to some beautiful meadows along the way and once you hit a space suitable for camping you have arrived at lower blue lake. would love to go back and make this a two day trip. the road out there is easy to maneuver and it definitely gets crowded pretty early. highly suggest this hike!

one of the most beautiful and fulfilling hikes i’ve ever done - every step was truly so worth it. definitely get started early to avoid the crowds. it was nice to have the lakes to ourselves for a little while before a lot of people started showing up. if you want a great “rocky mountain experience” this is definitely the hike for you. couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Absolutely stunning. Even though wild flowers had already peaked, this trail is breathtaking.

will definately do it again.

This trail is amazing! did it two days ago and it's so rewarding! It is tough in spots but it does give your legs a break in spots. It's not strictly uphill. Take lots of water and sunscreen because much of this trail is in the sun. Take your time and have fun

Great views! Definitely worth the hike and the tower stairs. Lots of nice spots to rest, and also some great rock overlooks.

However, the last 9 miles of the road to the trailhead are a very bumpy washboard so, be prepared.

Also, it was very busy today - lots of families and dogs. Perhaps a bit too crowded for me and definitely a bit too groomed, including benches along the way, for my taste.

All said and done, a very nice and rewarding couple of hours. A great place to introduce Colorado newbies!

This was the perfect hike for my wife and I’s first time being in Rocky Mountain National Park! Get there between 6:00 and 6:30am. We arrived around 6:45 and there were no more spots to park. However, we found a small parking lot for about 10 cars a 1/2 mile before the trail head so we just walked up to the trial head. Scaling the waterfall is not as hard as some people say it is if you are in good shape. It’s fairly easy, but I see how it could be difficult for those who aren’t in great shape. The view from the top was breathtaking. All Trails says it is 8.1 but it around 9.8 according to the map at the start of the trail. Also, if you are worried about being the only one on the trail with all the wildlife in RMNP then this is the perfect trail for you! I think there were in sight of my wife and I almost the entire hike. It took us about 2.5 hours to go up and 1.5 hours to come down. We highly recommend this hike!

Very good trail. The view up there is worth it. Also, camping at the lake is a good idea (if you check the temperature first)

so beautiful at the top. highly highly recommend. get there as early as possible for parking.

Beautiful hike! I’d say moderate. “Hardest” part was climbing the waterfall. Get there early!

Great hike with lots of good stopping points! Mostly shaded which I can appreciate! Dogs were all on leash which was impressive. The view from the top was amazing & the stairs were not bad at all!! Coming from a 6 month pregnant lady!!

We did this one today and it was absolutely gorgeous. The entire trail had so many different views and the lake itself was mesmerizing. We started at 6:30a (on a Friday) and there weren’t too many people. We thought the trail was confusing at a couple junctions as there aren’t any signs. There were a couple river crossings.

Perfect day hike with our dogs. Lots to see and enjoy at a leisurely pace...took us 2 hours to do the loop. Highly recommend.

Once you get past the scramble, finding the path to Sky Pond is very difficult. Walk along the lake & it will bring you to Sky Pond!
