Obviously an amazing trek with a pristine view of the valley and miles of Yosemite Park. It is not for the faint, and definitely has some technical terrain, but we'll worth the effort.

Traveling up the cables and down can take time due to a number of people, generally between 11am and 2pm.

Overall, it's a gem of a hike. Train well for it and enjoy the amazing views and vistas.

Very hard cores trails up and down. Needed tone in shape and bring a lots of water. When you get to the top of half Dome take you time exploring all surrounding. Climbing the cable was pretty easy only if you have gloves and hardness equipments. Try to avoid crowds so made easier.

Great little walk.

Easy enough for the kids! Great hike and such a beautiful spot!

on Bassi Falls

I hiked the trail on 8/10/18. I enjoy destination hikes, especially waterfall hikes. I had no idea what to expect at the end of the trail. I was mildly disappointed that Bassi Falls was just a trickle this time of the year. The trail on AllTrails was very different from the route that I took. The trail is in the process of restoration and if it weren’t for trail markings I probably would have been lost. I had trouble finding the trail back to the trailhead. I had to rely on shoe prints and paths that looked to have had heavy foot traffic. Hopefully they make better trail markings for the rerouted path. However, I will definitely come back to see Bassi Falls in all its glorious flow, perhaps in the Spring time.

Amazing and very rewarding hike!!! Make sure you bring enough water. I ran out right after hitting the top ( I took 1.5 liters) Thankfully I was hydrated enough to walk back down to the falls(probably 4 miles) to get more. Totally worth it!!! I was glad I had trekking poles with me, I would definitely reccomend to do the same!

Brilliant and spectacular!!!!

It's also important the company you keep on the trail to share the scenery with. Moderate hike, exciting views, with many multiple opportunities to expand your exploration.

Great hike! Just be watchful of bears. We spotted one about 15/20 feet from us while doing the hike not even half way in.

on Half Dome Trail

Did this hike on July 13th, weather was amazing and we got very lucky to finish this hike before the fire. Definitely an ass kicker but if you’ve trained for it you’re fine. I took 4 liters of water and was fine but my friends took less and filtered water at the river. Apply and reapply sunscreen because the sun is on you for most of the trail. I recommend getting a harness for the cables because although it doesn’t make it easier going up, you do have a sense of security just in case. Take it slow, it’s a great adventure worth taking your time for.. Take lots of pictures and have fun!

I loved this hike! Took my boyfriend for his birthday and it was lovely, BUT it was horrible the way back because we did not bring enough water. Please bring more than you think you need!!

Can be moderate for some due to altitude and heat, but so so so worth it. Amazing woodsy beginning and then a drop down to beautiful pools and falls.

gorgeous hike with wildflowers and a big green lake. the stream crossings are super manageable this time of year but be aware of high risk for forest fires. we backpacked in and had the whole lake to ourselves. dog friendly!

loved this hike with my family. my 7 year old daughter complained a lot until she saw the water fall and got to swim. she also swam in the lake and that made up for her complaining. it was fun for the family! you can picnic in the lagoons, lots of boaters came in and picnicked on the shore. the water is beautiful and turquoise for a lake. just loved it!

This might well be the most beautiful view I have ever seen. If you can walk up an incline, hike this trail before you die.

Good but the brush at the peak was too tall for a view of the valley .

Great hike, not worth it to do it in one day. Try and get a wilderness pass.

What a wonderful trail! The path is paved between the two beaches (about 1/3 of the whole loop) on the eastern side of the lake. It’s nicely shaded and cool from the lake. The water is clear and perfect swimming temperature. It’s super dog friendly too! The trail itself doesn’t have a lot of foot traffic, but the main beaches do. I suggest walking the trail and finding a good spot along the trail instead of seeking out the main beaches. The water itself is clear and perfect swimming temperature. I recommend swimming shoes because the bottom is rocky and some of the rocks are sharp.

Walked this trail on 7/22. Pros: probably great for kids, easily accessible from where we stayed, and had some small pools of water to put our feet in towards the end. Cons: very little to see along the way, broken glass along the path, and the waterfall was just barely flowing.

Best view of Yosemite falls in the park IMO

This is a beautiful hike. 85-90% shaded the entire way. My suggestion is to park along Emigrant Trail near the 2nd dam (parking option 3 shown on the map) and take the lake clockwise. You have to walk through some camp areas but it never felt intrusive. Not a ton of signage, but if you are not sure which way to go just take the path that keeps you along the lake.

Trail was absolutely breathtaking. So many beautiful wild flowers. A few very challenging areas where climbing or crossing creeks required the help of friends. Definitely worth the challenge!

Well marked trail that intersects with a few others. If you are interested in taking a swim, I'd suggest going counter clockwise at the start/Y. This will put you at the best swimming lake (Round) just over halfway in the loop. Round has a nice beach at the southernmost part of the trail. I estimate water temp at 70-72 degrees. Lots of folks and kids were swimming.

Had a great hike to the waterfall.

Does anyone know exactly what you are supposed to do when you get to river level? The trail map shows the trail going quite a bit past this point, but I couldn't really find a trail either time. Is it map wrong, are you supposed to climb through the rocks, or is there another trail hidden somewhere?

I did this hike in the early April and again in late July. Great hike both times, but it was definitely better in the spring when there are wildflowers, more water flowing, and it is quite a bit cooler. I started around 7:30 AM both times. Hike down to the river was pretty easy...and I didn't think the hike back was too bad, except for the increase in heat and a few points that were a little strenuous.

Have any of you hiked the Half Dome after the Ferguson Fire?We are planning to go this weekend and hike on 29th July, but it says that the entire area is very smoky and not advisable for strenous hike

This trail had beautiful views of the river and had it not been for the heat wouldn't have been too hard. Bring plenty of water. Parking is free but the lot is pretty small.

A really beautiful hike all the way around! There are 5 lakes along the way, tons of butterflies and wild flowers everywhere! This hike looks simple, but really pushes you. It’s well marked and we had no trouble finding our way when crossing other paths! Great for all ages!

We went on a Saturday (got there at 8am) and found parking pretty easily ($5). Luckily a ranger was there and gave us a map because this trail isn't well marked. You go through a few campgrounds. It was loud most of the trail. We either heard cars or the large amount of people on the lake. We had to move often for other hikers (large groups). The waterfall was VERY crowded. If you are looking for a trail that's peaceful and relaxing this is not the trail for you. It's closer to 10 miles as well. The trail itself is good for all fitness levels I would say.

Nice trail but very little shade, lots of gravel and rocks and no waterfalls in mid July. On a blistering hot day you better wear sun screen, have a wide brimmed hat and have a good pair of hiking boots. Difficult to locate the trailhead if you have not been there before as signage is poor and the elevation will wear you out quickly unless you are accustomed to hiking in the mountains. Very few people for a Saturday afternoon.

Great hike! Take your time up to Nevada falls, things get easier at Little Yosemite Valley... Until Subdome that is. I found Subdome to be more difficult than the cables. It seems like it goes on forever.

Bring good gripping shoes and gloves for the cables! I was at the summit at approximately 9AM, stayed for 15 minutes and encountered lots of hikers on the cables on the way down.

Hiked up via mist trail and down by JMT to lessen the strain on the knees.

Amazing hike, possibly second only to the Panorama-Four mile loop.
