A good morning workout!

Even during a weekday this can be a very busy trail. Its wide and well maintained and you can hear snippets of conversions from hikers concerning various aspects of the Hollywood scene.

Got there at 6am on the money. Just me and a few other people. Not a bad hike! Can’t wait to do this again! But yeah get there early was leaving around 8ish and it was starting to get packed!! Still worth the wait. The views were amazing!

Have been doing this hike a lot and I love it. You can make it a loop if you park more towards the bottom and walk up the road to the trail entrance. Very nice views of Burbank and the Valley when you get up top. If you’re feeling extra adventurous you can split off to the Vital Link trail. At the times I have gone usually late in the day there are very few people on the trail so you can get away from humanity for a bit. Love it!

You gotta make it to the Wisdom Tree! Bit of a tough incline but it’s worth it. And if you press on to the Hollywood sign the you can get right behind it and take some great photos. Love the American flag at the top too. God bless Hollywood and the US of A!

Super chill loop around Lake Hollywood. The fencing around the lake are not appealing but the views when you get to the bridge are nice. Cool to see the Hollywood sign with a lake in front of it. As easy as it gets so fun to take anyone along.

My go to trail. Perfect easy to moderate 3 mile loop. Water stop half way through. Nice bathrooms now at the start and a big free parking lot though it sometimes gets full and you have to park on Laurel Canyon. Beautiful views of the Valley and the canyon. I love it! Have hiked this at least 100 times in the past few years.

not my favorite very busy. not a huge fan of walking on streets.

did this one a few weeks back it was lovely. not too crowded.

too many people.

this was a relatively easy hike we shortened it up by going on mummy Rock Trail came back at the West End and we started at the East End things are starting to come to life because of the rain we had but the Basin is still not full

fun, finally gets steep towards the top.

Very beautiful sites and paved trail on the easy route. Very steep entrance into the trails.

One of my new fav LA hikes! It was awesome!! Tough incline but great work out and totally worth the view!! Wear hiking boots if you can.

Great views and a nice incline. Extremely crowded.

Moderately crowded on a Sunday late morning. The bottom part of the loop (from trailhead to Wisdom Tree to Mt Lee) is very pretty with clear trail; backtracking and heading up the loop counterclockwise the trail isn't really much of a "trail" at all. We ended up treating the bottom part of the loop like an out and back and then after getting back to the trailhead, went out and back on the first leg of the loop (clockwise) which had better trail. Overall a really nice LA hike and a good workout.

I love this hike, however, today there was a man on a mountain bike with a machete clearing a hiking trail so they can start mountain biking on this single track. Then on another part - where the backbone meets the Murphy Ranch trails there were 5 mountain bikers speeding down the trail and it is clearly marked NO BIKES. Hoping that Park Rangers can get out there and clearly mark that this area is no bikes. Bikes are permitted on the road all the way out to Camp Josepho.

this is a pretty easy hike but if you take the vital link Trail off of it it gets tough in a hurry

Definitely Recommended !!!

Got here round 730 ish not to crowded. This place just turned into my favorite hike! You gotta try this!!

Don't come here if you want a mtb ride they aren't permitted here but nice for views

Wow great hike and it lives up to the difficult rating. Be prepared with hiking boots and plenty of water I went to the left at the start and did the loop that way definitely will feel this one tomorrow.

Very ugly view. All you are looking at for the most part is barb wire....not inspiring. If you want to walk on sand and stare at barb wire in direct heat, this trail is for you.

Not very challenging, but do not underestimate the stairs. My buddy was dying on the way back.

Kind of hard to find the entrance. A lot of interesting graffiti everywhere. Very green right now.

After 13 years of living in LA I have finally have crossed doing the Runyon hike off my bucket list. It's not necessarily that I was avoiding it, it's just I hate going deep into Hollywood and getting stuck in traffic going back to the Westside. Anyways, this place is GREAT for quick workout. You can walk the trail but you will see alot of people jogging/running, and also doing random exercises. There's usually a good amount of people on this trail and the conversations that you overhear can be so Hollywood and hilarious. I can tell alot of Hollywood entertainment professionals frequent here. This place is very dog friendly as you will notice. Once you get to the top, there is a decent sized park where people sit on the benches and play with their dogs. If I lived in the area I could see myself doing this hike during the week after work. Lots of eye candy here too if you know what I mean.

If you are a looking for a "serious" hike, I wouldn't recommend this but this is a good workout and fun hike that is right in the city.

Believe it or not the graffiti (an the unique graffiti house at the bottom of the trail) is the highlight of this trail. Make sure you do the loop clockwise. There is a gate (more like a break in the fence) to the left just at the beginning of the loop. Go through this gate a walk down lots of steep steps. Make a left at the bottom of the steps to continue along the trail. If you choose to do the loop in a counter clockwise fashion you may have trouble finding the steps to go back up (the entrance was not so clear and you have to climb up a ton of very steep stairs. I would definitely recommend doing the loop clockwise.
