Great trail in great shape. One of my favorite hikes. I will say this it is straight up. 46 degrees at the parking lot and ice and snow in spots near the end of the trail. If you aren’t in at least average shape you should avoid this hike.

Lots of switchbacks but still pretty steep. Fairly difficult but the view is worth it.

good day hike. remember to pack enough clothes with elevation change from bottom to the top the temperature and weather can change pretty quickly.

Climbed Table Rock on 1/9/19 with future son in law Jim. Try to climb early January each year to get the year off right. Cold but sunny day. Temp in mid 40s.
Love the climb. Strenuous is correct Well worth the view.

Hard but worth every step‼️Absolutely beautiful❤️

Really not terribly difficult, the stair portions are the hardest since they are quite the incline (calves and quads will feel it). The rest of the trail is moderate incline the whole way. The view at the top is pretty good but as of recently the last part of the trail has been closed, which is where the good view is.

The ranger was not exaggerating the amount of steps and elevation gain that are involved in this hike but as promised it has some great views. If you have knee hip or ankle issues be prepared for lots of uneven steps maybe consider using poles. We hiked this after a lot of rain so the trail was fairly muddy. No shortage of waterfalls to see on the way up. Lots of large boulders to stop and take a break. For SC this is a great option if you are looking for a challenge. Overall great hike.

A little late but we went June 2017.A great hike and really refreshing after getting to the channels on a hot day.

Great day to do the hike, especially since the state park was closed so not may tourists around. Total mileage was 12.2.

Such a unique hike! The trail leading to the channels is very straight forward and easy to follow. It is pretty much all uphill there and downhill on the way back. The channels themself feel like something out of a fantasy novel! BE SURE TO REMEMBER WHERE YOU CAME FROM! You can easily get lost down in the channels while exploring the amazing rock formations. I recommend following the lead of Hansel and Gretel and leave a trail of nuts or candy so you know how to find your way out, but be sure to clean up after yourself! You don’t want to end up alone trying to find your way out for almost an hour. If you find yourself in the area and have a few hours check this out!

View at the top is worth it! Very muddy right now, and our watches showed 3 miles each way

This trail is no joke. It is very strenuous, even for well-seasoned hikers. The view and the feeling you'll get from finishing are worth it!

Dear lord this was a hard trail. Me and my two best friends went camping together and we spontaneously decided to do this trail for some reason. The whole thing is pretty much uphill but the view... my god the view was incredible at the top. It was so breathtaking it made the whole hike worth it. Just a note: the three of us are not in peak physical condition. I’m moderately fit but have hypoglycemia and a syncope problem, one friend has asthma and hypoglycemia but she runs frequently, and the second friend just casually works out. It took a while to go up and down this monster but we managed it.

My wife and I knocked this out on a trip to the area. Well worth the work. Suggest leaving early morning and enjoying lunch at the top overlooking the reservoir. Very enjoyable time!

Great Hike. Went with about 10 people aging from 6 to 50’s. There is a creek crossing that will wet your feet if it has rained the night before. Some dogs were off leash but very friendly. I would recommend.

Loved the view from the top, but there wasn't much of a view at all till the overlook. Some of the other climbs we hiked had a several views along the way, this one was forest until the overlook.
Still, a fun hike, with a breathtaking view. The single vantage point, and reasonably heavy amount of traffic will probably keep me from going back, but I think it was absolutely worth doing once!

Great views. Not too difficult of a hike. Definitely worth it!

Great hike for the whole family! Worth it to make it to the falls. Some slight difficulties as you get to higher elevations.

One of the best hikes in SWVA. Go when the leaves are down and you'll get long range views the entire hike.

Fun trail with breathtaking views at the top! It’s a decent hike up - also super muddy from all the rain. There were also a ton of people hiking this trail. After you get through the switchbacks, it’s a steady incline up. Bring a snack and enjoy the view at the top.

Beautiful hike. I agree with those that have said it was a challenging hike, but I would add enjoyably challenging.

Very challenging but rewarding as well. We do it almost Everytime we come to Gatlinburg.

I love this hike. It is moderate. The views are stunning. The Channels are like a mystical maze. Great for dogs and children if you want to bring them along.

They mean it when it says hard. I am an experienced hiker and the elevation gain was a challenge. However, I think at a slow and steady pace most anyone can complete this. The view at the top is so worth it. There are several spots as you get to the end where you can see a full panoramic view. Great way to spend the day. Make sure to bring a heavy snack and/or lunch to enjoy at the top.

Did it Saturday, very very tough hike. Steep the whole way up to Spence field.
Great views there, the last mile to Rocky Top is a butt kicker! I hike every week and done most of the hard hikes in the Smokys and this is number 1 or 2. As hard as Rainbow falls to Leconte if not tougher.
Worth it, good views and good bragging rights.
Too us almost 7 hours up and back with very short breaks.

Absolutely breathtaking! My opinion, the most rewarding view in the Smokies. Low Gap Trail earns the hard rating but once to the AT the steep grade levels out somewhat. Like others have mentioned it took me 3.5 hours up and 2 down.
