Closed Dec 1-March 31. Wish the app told me this after I drove 2 hours to get here!

on Grotto Falls Trail

We hiked this on 3/16, so had to start at the rainbow falls trailhead. This added a couple of miles to the hike, but they were fairly easy. We encountered a lot of mud on the last 1.5 miles. We saw more than one group heading out to the trail wearing white sneakers. Needless to say those shoes weren't going to stay white for long. Views along the trail are limited, but the falls at the end are a sight to behold.

superb and inspiring.

My family had a great time. Hopefully they fix the couple destroyed viewing points. We want to go back when the water is down so we can swim at the bottom of the big fall!

Super packed with people! Suggest early rising to avoid the crowd and get decent pics!

Easy walk up to a pretty waterfall. We went off to the left to look for the mine. That made it even better for us.

Too crowded from all the visitors but great trail

I’ve been hiking here since I was a child. Great day hike and plenty of other activities to do in the park.

Very gratifying hike. We started at rainbow falls trailhead so the trip was a bit longer. VERY MUDDY. 3-6 creeks to walk through depending where you start.

Had to climb over a few fallen trees at one point but a beautiful waterfall at the end you could walk behind. Not too crowded. Icicles fall from the top of the waterfall so be careful!

Very worth it and would do this hike again.

Loved this hike, but was VERY crowded even in Mid-May.

I parked at Maloney point and walked over to laurel falls trail head. The views at Maloney did not disappoint.
There is a great bench w with a view on Laurel trail at point seven, or as the trail turns roughly northwest. Good place to have a sandwich and take in the beauty of this trail. However, the some of the best views of the landscape are between points 8 and 9.

If the tower (knew it was closed) was open a 4 Star. Used the Dome pathway as a start for my hike to Andrews Bald. Up to the tower base, across the short section of the AT and down the Dome bypass to Forney Trail.

The reward of the Dome pathway is the VIEWS coming (4 Star) back!!!!!! Even the views from the parking lot are 4 Star!!!!!!

Great hike! It is challenging, especially when you hike down to the bottom of the falls because the hike back up is a rough one. I love this state park and it holds so many different waterfalls so I would highly recommend that you try all of the falls out! Also, if you can get a chance to see these falls in the winter, I would highly recommend it!

This was a pretty cool hike. We went in March of 2018, so the road to get to the trailhead was closed for the season. But you can easily park at the rainbow falls trailhead and walk the rest of the way. It’s 2.0 miles to the trailhead and the trail itself is 1.4 miles long. The terrain of the trail was pretty rocky and rooty. We left out at about ten in the morning and didn’t encounter anyone on the way there, but encountered 3 or 4 groups on the way back. Once we got there, there were some nice photo ops from behind the waterfall.

This is my all time favorite "quick hike."

Love this place! Amazing views!!

Great, challenging trail well worth the hike.

Beautiful waterfall on a little side-trip on our way home from Nashville! Totally worth it!

Scenic trail with relaxing water sounds along the way up to the falls. I walked the loop clockwise and enjoyed the falls early in the hike. A fair amount of elevation increase going this way.
Definitely one not to miss!

AMAZING!!! We had such a great time. Kids 6,11, and 12. The waterfall was incredibly beautiful.

This place was awesome. Almost didn’t go since the staircase to the bottom is closed but it was worth the drive out anyways. The water level was extra high and very impressive. I took my dog along and he seemed to enjoy the trail as well, we’ll be back!

A nice quick hike!

It has been really rainy and the trail was rather slick, but we really enjoyed the view. It was a little strenuous for my out of shape self and still managed to walk the trail in about an hour.

highlights of this hike..we spotted 2 cubs and mama Bear playing in the trees minding there business ...we respected there space ! what a beautiful experienced...rewarded with a pretty falls on top of that.

Very easy and great for kids and families and fun to swim in! Bring some shoes with traction and clothes you don’t mind getting wet in! Young’s e to take a dip!

It was uphill but worth it when you finally reach the waterfall!

The trail itself is short but the falls are worth the trip. I was in awe. The Ranger gave me pointers on an even better hike nearby, said it’s all better come April. (It was rainy).

Nice little hike with some great views. Right now though the main overlook and the stairs to get down to the bottom of the main falls are closed. The hike is still worth it.
