Beautiful hike! I would definitely do it again, but in the summer. My car could only make it within 2 miles of the trailhead, so we walked up the road to get there. We had to stamp through the snow the entire time, which made for an adventure! However, I definitely recommend snowshoes if you hike in the winter months. The views from the top were stunning and made the trudging worth it in the end.

Hiked this trail a number of times, and it is one that is relatively easy at most points but has a few rough spots if you're not careful. Great view of the Gorge.

My all time favorite hike. But it has gotten so crowded in recent years. I visited here just weeks before the fire closed it in 2017.

Very sad. But can’t wait for it to reopen.

does anyone know someone to contact for a reopen date of this trail?

One of my favorite hikes! Done it many times and it's good in any season! Amazing views of Mt St Helen's, Mt Rainier, Mt Adam's, Mt Hood and Mt Bachelor from the top!!

Amazing views. It’s takes some climbing! Very challenging, you’ll get dirty

Easy + Fast trail. Close to town for a quick breath of fresh air. Light to moderate traffic during the winter.

One of the best in NW. Challenging hike all the way to the finish, but definitely wonderful Lake, glacier, and mountain peaks. Trail is well maintained, but on the top it gets confusing where to go for the first timers. You’ll pass a small lake to get to your destination.

Beautiful trail with an amazing view. This is not one Id call easy. Lots of climbs and stairs. Would rate it closer to moderate.

my very first trail in Oregon

It's closed! But I have gone before and it's one of my favorites! The lady guarding the road said it looks like it's going to take 2 years for some of the trails.

Not much to say about it. Overal it is a nice hike.

Very pretty trail. Short and EASY ...however, this trail is kid, family, and dog friendly. No real incline. Falls are literally a few hundred yards from parking lot!

incredible hike. you need a jeep, lifted 4x4/AWD SUV, or offroad capable truck for the final 2 miles of road

NOTE: lower portion is closed until July 2018 (I posted a pic of the map that shows where). Still a very pretty hike. Went on a weekend morning, and it got fairly crowded as the day went on. Go early in the AM if you want the trail more to yourself.

Great hike! My gps recorded this loop at a little more then 7.5 miles. Be sure to wear good shoes and bring water! The views are spectacular! Great hike in January and even better in the summer months.

Pretty views. Decent climb. Muddy!!! There is a part of the lower that is like a scramble. The last 1.3 miles is a road walk. It’s lame but there’s a couple waterfalls and some incredible viewpoints. Cliffs areas. 2 dogs have died here!

Fun trail. Hiked on 1/20/18. Needed snow shoes to get to the top.

Great Loop, close to town!

This was back in November so the access is not the same now. We were hoping for a snow shoe but the day before they broke trail and the weather changed so everything was crusty. It was just easier to use spikes. They werent even needed until about half way but I didnt use them until it was time to turn around and head back down. This hike is always incredible!

you will need a high clearance vehicle FR 4109 is in bad shape. we went yesterday and didn't reach summit due to 55 mph winds on the ridge. it was very unpleasant. there were patches of snow along the ridge but nothing impassable. I can't speak for snow at summit as we didn't make it but it didn't look bad from the ridge. I've hiked this before and thought it was a pretty cool hike. probably the best approach to silver star.

Great hike and beautiful view from Quarry Rock.

Be prepared for some serious wind up there!

Great hike but very busy.

Good hike trail is easy to follow and there are signs every mile so you can't get lost. I tracked my hike with Strava it casme out to be 10.6 miles not the 11.2 All trails says it to be . First 2 miles has the clear cut areas but then after that lots of tall trees and moss .

Great, but can be very busy!
