Beautiful hike.

Nice relatively easy hiking trail with several views that over look Golden.

This is a really great day hike if you live nearby and are off to a late start for the day. We came from neighboring Longmont and started the hike around 3. Got back to the car right after the sun went down. The creek is beautiful and it's really cool to see some local infrastructure at work. I highly recommend this hike.

Visiting Boulder from New Jersey, and a few hours after landing my friends and I did this trail. Absolutely stunning scenery. Easy enough considering we are not used to the altitude. We decided to go farther and do the Chapman Dr trail which loops back into the same parking lot that we started for tenderfoot! Nice little hike with beautiful views, I would love to do it again!

Our family did the trail today, Nov 3rd. Our kids are 14, 11 and 9, wehad a blast. We saw a elk carcass and all sorts of wild flowers dried up. The weather was perfect, we had prepared a picnic and ate it at tge 1/2 point next to the beautiful water fall. Awesome pics!!!!!

Slightly snow packed at the top, but beautiful and we almost had the trail to ourselves.

Nice easy day hike.

trail cranked me

Beautiful hike with some stunning views. Very heavily trafficked especially on the road leading to the Sleepy Lion trail, but everybody kind of spreads out after that.

trail running

Went for my second run here on 19 October. Fewer bikes on the trail than my previous trip. Weekday mornings seem to be a perfect time to run this trail.

Every biker I have passed on both trips has been considerate and riding responsibly.

The views are not intensely panoramic aside from the viewpoint at the far-point on Ponderosa, and a bit of a view of the flatlands beyond the foothills for a section of the Eastern side of Ponderosa Loop, but the meadows and forest sections are so tranquil and relaxing to run through.

I passed a group of deer about two miles in that felt inclined to stand 75 feet off the trail and watch me pass.

Hopefully running this again this week!

Good trail with decent incline at end, with great view of front range and mnts

easy with a good climb

Fun easy hike with amazing views

Beautiful hike, lots of scenery and mountains all around you covered in snow. Parking lot (due to road closure) is 3.5 miles away from the lake Isabelle trailhead, entire hike ends up being 12.5 miles. Lake Isabelle is completely frozen over and looks immaculate. Expect a 5 and half hour hike. I would arrive early to get the best views and temperatures.

Like is mentioned below, the return on this is tough. My 2 kids and I managed it with ease but some might struggle. The trailhead is shared with dozens of dirt-bike trailers and for the first 1/4 mile of the trail we could hear the dirt bikers coming & going. But after that it was calm and quiet. As of this writing there were some muddy areas due to last week's snow.

Great hike but has a couple of boulder sections of Black Bear Paw that our 12 yr old border collie had some difficulty with... heads up.

**there is a separate account for “winter” trail, but this is the first account most people go to** Beautiful hike the entire way. As someone else mentioned the road to Brainard Lake is closed. From parking and back we clocked a round trip of 12 miles to get to Lake Isabelle and back to parking lot. The trail had nice packed snow 90% of the way, the last part before the lake is a little slushy and muddy being exposed to sun which can cause it to be a little slick, so careful if you have some limitations. The lake was completely frozen on 10/20.

Awesome trail with a nice surprise at the top! Good cardio incline at the beginning, middle levels out for you to catch your breath, and then a steep incline at the top. Well worth it tho!

This is a lovely hiking and MTB trail. I had no issues sharing the trail with bikers as they were all very friendly and courteous. The views down the valley are gorgeous, especially in morning light. The Wapiti/Ponderosa/Wild Turkey Trail loop was easy/mod with sure footing and well-kept trails. I came across two handsome 8 point bucks on the north side. Nice views of Meeker and Longs Peak. Plentiful parking and vault toilets at the trail head. A real gem!

Just a heads up the road to Brainard Lake is closed for the season as of 10/15 so you have to park at the winter lot and hike the 2.5ish miles to the trailhead.

lovely trail with a noice rock at the top pretty busy though

You will need snowshoes for the last 2 or 3 miles after the Sunday storm. Close to lion lake, snow was at least 3 feet deep. We had to break the trail after junction between Lion and Thunder lakes.

This was a beautiful hike with varying difficulty in the trail throughout and lots of beautiful views along the way. we didn't make it to glacier lake but lake Isabelle was great!

great views and rocky trail makes for low mud on the rare rainy days in BoCo.

We do a lot of hiking in Colorado, and for my entire family this is our favorite. It is extremely easy, and just shockingly beautiful the entire way. I can't think of a better place for a hike. We went on a Wednesday, arrived at the park about 7:05 in the morning, and there were only two parking places left. Arriving early and bug spray are both a must!

Did this counterclockwise and thoroughly enjoyed it. Fascinating mix of super wide gravel road, steep rocky single track (moments of scrambling even) and a descent on long deteriorating asphalt. Views were great and dam, causeway and canyon walls fun to admire. Dogs off leash on the single track only (about 40%) but that worked for me.

Incredible views. Bring layers. Very windy by the lake
