The views are as good as it gets! We hiked on Labor Day, so lots of hikers and dogs. Not terribly strenuous and only took a few hours. The water at the lake above was cold and refreshing to swim in. I’ll definitely hike again with my dog.

amazing hike. it was 17 miles though... def not 13.9. beautiful, great weather, great trail. loved it!

I found it to to be a good amount of challenge with great views as the pay off. Took a little over 4 hours round trip but I have not done much hiking this year so I’m not in the best shape. We went at about 8:30 and the bugs were not bad at all. It’s really nice that there are places to sit and rest once you get to the falls. Great views of the city as well. My garmen showed about 5,5 miles to lower falls.

great trail beautiful scenery got some really steep hills though.

The trail leading up is extreme, it inclined so fast and steep. There is a lot of rocks and things you need to climb over. It’s beautiful, pace yourself and you should be good.

is nice place

Went on this trail last Friday and really enjoyed it!!! the lake was beautiful at the end of the hike and was perfect to relax at before heading down. the view was amazing and hoping to get back at it soon.

This hike never disappoints. Beautiful fall colors this time of year.

So hard but the views were worth it!

This hike is deceiving, if you want to see a waterfall you have to go up an extra .7 ass kicking climb beyond the 2.2 miles in the app description. The app map has you going all that way so there measurement of miles is incorrect. At 2.2 there was a nice stream but nothing I would call a waterfall, may just be time of year as the water levels are low. We were happy we did it, but may have thought twice if we had a correct map or started earlier.

beautiful and worth the effort. Last leg is an ass kicker very satisfying!

Okay, I’m from Missouri and this hike was quite the challenge for someone not from Utah. The views were breathtaking, the lake was serene and totally worth it & refreshing. Going up is a challenge as it’s rocky as you get closer to the top, and it requires a lot of leg strength. We took numerous breaks but eventually made it. It took us an hour and thirteen minutes to get down but about 2 hours to get up. The road up to the trailhead was a bit scary as you’re right along the edge but just take it slow.
Overall:
Trail difficulty: strenuous
Road up to trail: rocky&bumpy&steep

The waterfall is beautiful and worth the trip.

Better than I even expected! The leaves are starting to change.

Great views! Steep in portions, but still worth it.

We went up last Saturday. We hiked the first hour or two with headlamps because we started in the dark. Plenty of parking when we got there and a steady climb with breathtaking views all the way up. Managed to find some mountain goats. The only two complaints I have are the amount of people and that you have to hike just short of a mile across a boulder field-it hurts your feet! Will be trying the Timpanogee trail next time.

good hike, there is definitely a lot of stair climbing feel mentality to it getting up to the falls and then going up and Beyond to the Upper Falls just be prepared I'ts totally doable as long as you take your time and take plenty of breaks

One of my favorite hikes in Utah County. I've probably hiked it 20 times. The Horsetail Falls are spectacular but you need to be very careful on the rock. It's incredibly slippery.

The trail is 5 stars for biking. I wouldn’t do anything else on it because the trail for hikers gets confusing and bikers go in between the hiking trails and the biking only trails. Anyways, if you bike yes to this trail—hikers it’s best find another trail

Great trail! It takes as much as it gives. Demanding trail with an incredible view all along the way. A must!!

Best Utah county trail. A must.

The trail is hot, very steep, and long. But the payoff is probably the best view I've seen in Utah, and an amazing cirque!!

Such a good hike to a beautiful, well worth view. Our pup enjoyed the walk and being able to freshen up in the streams along the way.

Fun hike, but a little misleading for first-timers. The falls—which are awesome—are within the first half-mile of the hike. On a holiday (like today—Labor Day), that section of the hike is very busy. From there, the trail along the stream is very narrow in parts, with treacherous, loose gravel drop offs. If you have little ones like us, you’ll want to keep a hand on them.
After the first mile, which is quite steep to boot, the trail evens out and is quite lovely. We didn’t quite make it to the end, but came within spitting distance—we clocked exactly 4 miles total. Plan on around three hours if you’re going to go the distance.

This is labeled an out and back, but more accurate is an up then down. 2 miles straight up with maybe 2 or 3 very short flat sections.

Coming down is no picnic with old knees.

My watch showed 5 Miles from Orson Smith trail head up to where Trail of Eagle connects with Cherry Canyon trail. About 3600 ft gain. There is 1.5-2 mile section where trail is mostly overgrown. Could definitely use maintenance. With that said you can find the trail fine, just wear pants and maybe long sleeve shirt. Ran into one person the whole hike. Great views of the valley and pretty hiking once you get up into the trees.

Much more difficult than anticipated, but I’m not in great shape so maybe it had more to do with my conditioning than it did with the difficulty of the hike. It is very steep.

Alltrails loged 14.6 miles and over 44,000 steps on the loop going up from Aspen Grove and back down Timponeke. I only saw one mountain goat butt, no flowers, a lot of dust, and too many people at the top, but it was an amazing day! Now to nurse my sore feet and legs!
