One of my favorite trails. I did not like all the bear jams along Cade’s cove though. Took a long time to get out of the park. But we’ll worth it. Saw a total of 16 bears mostly mammas with their cubs. Wild turkey. The biggest red headed woodpecker I ever saw and bunch of deer. Great day.

There is a paved steep pathway to the observation deck. Not far but steep. Beautiful view from the top. Take the clingmans dome bypass trail back down to the parking lots it’s worth it. I wish I knew there was an adjacent trail before I saw the ranger at the deck.

The hike to the top is very steep but the views are amazing and so worth it! Parking is a challenge.

Beautiful trail! Longer than expected, but worth it. There were down trees, and a lot of rocks and roots, so you have to be cautious. The waterfall was beautiful, and I’ll never forget it. My boyfriend proposed at the fall. What’s not to love?

Nice trail not heavily used. The creek is very nice.

Hiked this trail while vacationing in Pigeon Forge with my family (10/30), it was a nice hike to the creek/small water fall. Uphill all the way to the bridge crossing mostly on an old service road, then it narrows to a rocky and root filled trail until you get to the foot bridge, we did not do the loop. We sat by the water on some large rocks and ate our lunch. All the way up you will pass small streams, you could hear the water flowing the entire hike, recent rains had the water flowing nicely. The parking is pretty tight at the trail head, but other than that it was a nice hike!

We parked in Cable Mill Visitor Center lot and trekked an extra mile to this trailhhead. The trail starts out easy and gradually gets more technical. There are lots of rocks, but the falls make it so worth it! Beautiful waterfall and amazing fall foliage this time of year!

While we had no view at the top due to weather, the drive up was beautiful! The hike is an asphalt path which was fine for footing. Saw many people in street shoes as opposed to hiking shoes. Be aware on a wet day it might be slick coming down in street shoes. I’d do this again on a clear day.

Not too strenuous of a hike, except for the quick incline. Go early morning and you’ll be the only ones up there!

Pretty hike in the middle of the wilderness. Definitely uphill most of the way so you’ll definitely get those legs burning in no time lol. Campsite 18 is pretty make sure to go right then make a quick left after crossing stream to continue up trail. Few “overlooks” but as the leaves fall I’m sure it’ll be a pretty sight. Great hike overall and weather was great today!

Short (moderately steep) walk up a heavily traveled paved trail. This hike is on most tourists short list of things to see, so the parking lots fill up quickly. Make this hike on a clear and sunny day and you'll see mountains for miles. Dress appropriately. The temperature can be about 15 - 20 degrees cooler and the wind can be strong. Bathrooms available.

Pretty good trail overall. Seen several deer while we were hiking too, which was pretty cool.

View at the top was worth it, but the crowd was ridiculous.

Beautiful hike. Much longer than expected. Lots of rocks and roots, not a wise choice for elderly or out of shape persons.

Awesome paved trail, very steep and I took a few breaks to catch my breath on the way up. Views at the top were magnificent!

The walk up to Clingmans dome from the parking area isn't very long, but it is quite steep. The path is heavily trafficked with people of all fitness levels donning all types of attire/footwear. I found the incline a little challenging and had to take a few short little breathers on the way up. There were plenty of other people breathing heavy and resting along the way. When you make it to the top of the mountain, you are surrounded by trees and there is not an expansive view until you complete the walk to the top of Clingmans dome. As expected, it's quite crowded at the top. I felt like I was in a wind tunnel with a symphony of screaming children. It wasn't the best experience due to the wind and crowds, but worth it because you get a 360 degree view. If it weren't for that, I'd say the parking lot scenic lookouts are more enjoyable.

Perfect amount of hiking for a short day hike ! Beautiful water to sit by while having our lunch ! I Highly recommend this trail

Nice trail with lots of hikers.

Love this trail! Beautiful views and so rewarding when you get to the falls.

This hike seems to be on every “Top 10 Hikes of the Smokies” list and with that kind of recognition comes the crowds. Abrams Falls trail is moderate in length and elevation gain which also contributes to its popularity. It’s a “roller coaster” type hike with a lot of ups and downs, but mostly trending down to the falls with all of the elevation gain coming on the way back. As a rule, I do not generally love hikes that are uphill on the way back. That combined with the crowds, noise and unfulfilled high expectations left me disappointed. It is a pretty trail and a pretty waterfall, but with so many beautiful waterfall trails in GSMNP, I definitely wouldn’t do this one again.

id give this hike a 4/10 for difficulty. there isnt too much to look at on the way but the falls are beautiful.
on a side note: you have to take a one way road to get to the trail and you cant pass so you are at the mercy of the cars in front of you to keep going. there were lots of deer and turkeys in the meadows and people would stop in the middle of the street, halting traffic for their pictures. it took 30 minutes to go 3 miles and its the only way to get there

I have hiked this trail many times. It is considered moderately difficult... many rocky and rooty areas. As you walk in ..3 hills and as you walk out 3 hills.
Beautiful waterfall but swimming near the falls is very dangerous.., several deaths here.
If hiking in warm/hot weather, take water.

Another SMNP must! Take the kids take the parents! It’s an easy walk but will work your lungs do the grade incline! I’ve been suggesting an escalator since I was a kid lol I’d rather hike tough terrain than steep graded paved paths!

Awesome trail! Good views, not too difficult.

Nice hike...tricky at times. Beautiful waterfall!

This is the second trail I have took in the smokies. It has a steady climb then back down. I nice spot to sit by a small fall and have a quick bite to eat to refuel. Love the campsites and plan to camp there on day. Watch out for the turkeys seems there all over the place here.

This was an awesome place! A bit of a warning though. The paved trail is a quite steep uphill walk. It would be very hard for the elderly or anyone pushing a wheelchair. Also, dress warm.

Beautiful trail, Lots of traffic. It was my first experience hiking the Smokies. I would be happy to do this trail again!! It would be fun to do in the fall.
