We hiked during the week and there was light traffic on the way up but on the way down there was increasingly more traffic. The hike is gorgeous and Lake 22 is picture perfect! This was our first hike in WA and it didn’t disappoint.

So me, my gf, and a fellow couple we met off of IG, did this as a night hike. Legit the perfect night hike to do if you have never night hiked before. I say that because the trail is short 2.5 miles up, and is extremely wide and well maintained. We started at 4:45 Am and were to the top by 5:45 Am with about two stops for water. Just in time for sunrise, which is why we night hiked it in the first place. Be carful, the trail gets a little rocky towards the end, but other than that pretty safe. I was there yesterday and it is still very hazy and Smokey from the wild fires, but I appreciated the different perspective. Over all a great hike and would recommend to any hikers or beginner hikers. The views of the lake and every greens our our this world, and I’m saying that on a hazy day. So could you imagine a clear day ? I’ll deff be back.

The trail is very well maintained, lots of benches and break spots if ya need it! Did this hike early on a Monday and almost had the trail to myself! It was lovely!

Definitely not for sissies or if you out of shape like me. My 19 year old Army son didn’t break a sweat. Totally worth it. Too bad it was smoky to see all the beauty!

Beautiful hike, smokey today from all the fires. Hikes up around 4:30am and were only accompanied by another couple and photographer for a wedding shoot. Lovely sunrise spot, the mist and clouds looked so beautiful rolling in through the mountains and evergreens. Lots of people hiking up on our way back down around 9a.m. On a Monday. Definitely a spot to get to early. Took us about an hour, hour and a half up.

$5 permit needed for parking. No issues finding parking at 4pm. Such a fun hike given variety of nature such as little creeks or a fallen tree blocking the path. Best of all is the reward of a beautiful lake at the top!

Definitely a rewarding hike. I loved it.. by far my favorite place.

Wow. What an awesome time. I hiked out there just me and my dog for an overnight yesterday! I will say backpacking it was tough. I probably could have went with a little less but realistically I used everything I brought outside of extra food. This trail is a bit rough at first then evening out into a refreshing walk through some fields(3) then gradually getting more difficult. Divided into 3rds the final is the hardest. It begins going up past the Trap lake trail where switchbacks begin. Once at the top you will duck into some timber crossing a ridge then straight up the face of a timber covered mountain. Now that you’re at the top of that you will navigate through 3 boulder fields and over three ridges before you crest into the basin. Pay close attention to the stacked rocks as you might find it difficult crossing the fields. You will find snow melting away into a stream for water if you need it before the final push to the lake! We went all the way to the lake at the top at Thunder mountain. It is stocked with fish since 2014! Pretty great feeling having dinner at last watching fish jump right in front of my tent! Even with the smoke it was still worth every bit. Happy trails guys be safe!

beautiful and amazing trail, but there were so many bugs! seriously! everytime we stopped we would get swarmed. besides this it was a quick and hard hike. My group didn't start until about 5 and made it down by 9. The snow was unexpected but pleasant and refreshing to see.

Beautiful!! Great hike, pretty views after the meadow. Seemed a lot longer then the posted mileage.

I found this trail BRUTAL. Make sure you have a huge breakfast and bring at least 2+ litres of water and plenty of food and snacks. Only exposure to sun is right at the top so don't worry about SPF or anything like that unless you plan on staying up there a while.

It was gorgeous and breathtaking but I can't comment on whether the physically demanding hike is worth it. That's up to you to decide.

I used the trailhead direct bus from seattle, only $2.75 and drops you off right at the bottom of the trail. These run at the weekends in summer only I believe.

Trail wasn't too crowded for a Saturday and everyone was really friendly and encouraging. Some athletes ran up and down it then back up again in the time it took us to climb up!

Great moderate-difficult day hike with outstanding lake views at the end. The trail to Rachel lake can get a bit confusing as there are no marked trail signs but keep looking for where you find the maximum density of footprints and follow along. Recorded about 11.5 miles RT to Rampart lake and back.

Amazing views and a moderate hike. Would give 5 stars but the amount of people brings down the appeal a little bit. At 3pm on a Tuesday there were around 25 people at the top.

Nice trail. A lot of the hike is spent in the woods on switchbacks but the top has some excellent views. Get ready to sweat.

This has to be one of the best trails in all of WA!! Great views and not too bad of workout.

I was worried about the drive up, the bugs and crazy amounts of people. The drive up is rough like all the reviews say but my ford focus made it no problem. Just take it slow and you'll be fine. I didn't wear bug spray and they were non existent. I left the trail head at 7:30am to beat the crowds. At the top there were just a couple people and a few volunteers. On my way down (after 9:30) there was 100+ people making their way up.

The views are incredible and the actual hike itself is not bad for a fit individual. Took 3 hours round trip with 30 minutes at the top. Well worth the drive from South of Seattle.

My tip would be just to arrive early and you'll enjoy it way more!! This is a great hike.

Went up to Gothic Basin this past weekend and is sad to report back that almost every single campsite had a fire pit in a location where fires are prohibited. We disassembled some of them but was frustrated and angry to see that people have no respect for these fragile places that we are so lucky to go and for LNT principles. Please educate yourself before heading out there and leave places better then when you found it.

Loved it, get there early to get a spot and bring your Discover Pass. You can purchase a day pass in the parking lot for $10. Recommend walking sticks for the descent. Beautiful views of river and falls.
Air quality was good but a bit of a haze still lingered.

Been there on 2018/06/16 Saturday. Best hiking place. It is a package with nice lake at the base and very good views from the top. Very big parking lot. And nice picnic area at the lake. Good place for Kayaking in lake. Relatively near by and easily accessible from Issaquah and I-90.

Been there on 2018/06/02. Very good hike. Lot of crowd. Paragliding at the same point. Near to Issaquah Front street. Has a designated parking lot but small. I would go there again.

excellent trail with a great view.

Been there on Saturday 2018/08/18. Took two hours - to and fro. I did not like it. Waterfall is very small not like the pictures shown. Hike it self is not pleasant and It is more of walk in the woods than hike. No proper signs, some confusion on trail route at couple of junctions, we made it though. 'All Trails' app map helps some extent. No designated parking lot, we were there at around 7:30 and could easily find the place to park on roadside. There is no board or sign at the trail head so it was confusing and had to wait for other hikers to come and follow them. Trail head is at at the junction of Mountain View Rd & Cherry Valley Rd where couple of concrete blocks are placed. It is an easy and long walk and good for kids. Do I go there again? Nope.

Good short hike. Good elevation to get your body working. Very heavily trafficked. We reached at 8:45 am and parking was starting to get full, and while coming back there were even more people going up.
The view from the top is spectacular, only problem being the high number of people. Overall a good hike.

Pretty hike! Way too many people...

Fairly steep but great trail. Leave early to avoid the crowds.

The trail was pretty good. The weather was cloudy so very soothing to sit at the top. Only drawback was mount Ranier was not visible.
First break spot is at 1.25. Miles.
2hours to go up and 1 hour to go down for us...

Climbed Mt. Si for first time today while taking a back to school shopping break. The parking lot was not crowded. The trail was in great condition and easy to follow. It was quite the climb the entire way. It took me about an hour and 20 minutes. I thought this was great, until someone ran passed me almost at the top. It did take some others I met almost 3 hours to get to the top. I enjoyed being in the trees for most of the time until the top. I followed some others to the top of the haystack. It was quite the view, too bad it was smoky. I would recommend this hike just bring water and be prepared for a ‘great ‘ leg/butt workout.

I’m a novice hiker and this was my second hike in the PNW so far. The views along the way made it really enjoyable the whole way.

Beautiful! Moderate hike, hard on some of the switchbacks and uphill parts (depending how much weight you’re carrying). Bring a lunch to eat on the lake with a gorgeous view. Definitely worth the hike!

Good exercise, and great for your first trail run. Really crowded trail. If you are interested in great views it is better to go elsewhere.

Excellent. Hiked the entire distance in one day - started at Stuart trail , finished at Snow lake trail head. Took 15 hrs ( swimming stop and rest breaks) a bit scary hiking last 4-5 miles in the dark.
Beautiful scenic yet challenging hike. Thank you to my friend Kristen who organized this adventure !
