Fun trail. Ice underneath the snow. Needed cleats. The trail above the bridge was a little dice. Made for a little adventure

Pictures don’t do it justice, way more impressive in person! Micro spikes are a definite need throughout the trail! The last .5 mile is super steep... going up was easy in comparison to going down. Though some parts of going back down turned out to be super fun since we ended up using our butts as a sled

Great for puppers and not bad in the winter

This place was totally and completely out of my way, but it was so worth it once I got here. The entire hike is stunning. Very few people hiking here in the winter so it felt like I had the place to myself!

Hiked this today with my 10 y/o on snowshoes. It was pristine and beautiful. We blazed half the trail in 15-18” of fresh powder. Once we dropped back in we didn’t hear the snowmobiles out at the main parking. Definitely do this again to see it in the summer. Loved.

Great day hike trail in the winter. Lots of cute pups along the way and a great payoff at the end. A bit slippery coming back - Would rec bringing spikes, yak trax, poles or snow shoes if you have them. Still doable if you don’t!

One of my personal favorites, it's a quick, but steep and tiring hike to Pretty Valley and the frozen cascades are gorgeous. We climbed to the top of the big rocks and looked over the valley. Beautiful stuff. Until then the trail is well packed. We tried continuing past the massive rocks but the deep snow and time shortage prevented us from continuing. Wish we could have continued though!

Nothing short of amazing. I have done this hike four times this year but the winter brings a whole new beauty to this hike. Waterfall is mostly frozen. Beautiful take your camera.

One of my favorite trails I’ve ever hiked!! Love the river that’s right next to you and the scenery is amazing!! Definitely a must do!!

Best view of SLC I’ve seen.

Great for dogs, great for views.

Gorgeous views. Loose gravel near the trailhead, two areas where the path (briefly and slightly) narrows closer to the top. We were happy to have Yaktrax and trekking poles.

This hike is one of my favorites. The beauty and serenity of the meadows is why I keep doing it. I prefer going to grove creek and down battle creek.

Great hike, breathtaking views

The left (North) loop was too snowy to hike safely even with chains so we choose the right (South) loop. Then when we came down we choose to explore Pretty Valley. The snow got thigh deep at the upper end of the trail.

I loved this hike. I went on a backpacking trip with some of my friends up here and about 10 minutes before getting to the waterfall there’s a little fire pit and a bunch of trees where you can set up a little camp and hang up hammocks. The view is beautiful and yes it was kinda hard carrying a bunch of your gear up the trail (because it’s just straight up) but it was so worth it. There’s little ponds that you can either look at or you can swim in (only if you like freezing cold water) but either than that it’s a great trail. It takes about 1-2 hours (depending on your pace) hiking up but walking back down feels like 10 minutes.

We did this hike on 12/20 and there was a bit of snow/ice on the trail, but not on the majority and not slippery. Very few people on the trail this time of year. It's beautiful along the whole way.

Awesome views along a well maintained and varied trail. Falls were better than expected

It was a gorgeous hike. Covered in packed snow for the majority of the way, so it got a little slick in some parts. I had a toddler on my back so that definitely made it tougher in the slick parts, if I were to do it in the snow again I wouldn’t take the kid. I ended up above the falls but I think there was probably some good views I missed out on below. The way to the falls wasn’t marked so that’s why it’s only 4 stars not 5 but I’m going to try again when there isn’t snow and see if it’s better.

Nice and easy hike with some loose gravel on the way up, the view at the end is pretty awesome if it’s not too crowded.

Went on 08Dec18. A couple of areas where spikes are useful, not bad at all for this time of year.

Beautiful hike at the end of November (11/30/18). Heavy snow kept us from attempting the last quarter mile but I was playing it safe with my girlfriend. It's doable but slick. Really enjoyed the canopied hiking and rushing creek.

Our first hike in the area! Waterfall Canyon did not dissappoint. There is snow on the ground pretty much the last half mile which adds to the difficulty although it's still an easy enough hike. Falls are frozen pretty good at this point and make for great photos. Thank you to the property owners who let the public on their lands.

This is a great loop trail with no technical difficulties for 11 years old and normal adults. The scenic view at the meadow which is over G Mountain is really great!

This is rated "HARD" but find it to be intermediate; it shares the same trail for the Dry Creek Trail which is rated Intermediate. Went Mid-November 2018 and it took about 2.5 hours with stops for pictures and taking in the views. Trail was a mix of compacted dirt and some loose rocks so wear shoes with ankle support. Trail was clear of snow and there was only one icy spot about 1/4 mile up past the trailcamp meadow. I was easily able to walk through the brush and avoid it. The dead horse is still on the left of the trail just past the post for the 046 trail (on the right). The horse did not smell and was half buried, however my pup's nose had no trouble finding it. Only docking because the signs for the falls didn't exist.

Nice short hike, a bit washed out with some loose rock areas. Views are well worth it!

Great hike for all experience levels. When I went, there were plenty of families with kids, trail runners, and pups on the trail. There was no snow or frost when I went.

Difficult on the way down due to slippery gravel. Great view at top! Good hike with 2 eleven year olds.

On a clear day, it is a STUNNING view. Even on a smoky day, it’s still beautiful. It’s a steep hike up and not marked. However, it’s pretty self-explanatory. It’s well-traversed enough. You get to this first lookout area that’s flat, which means you’re almost there!
